Fantastic Trip

This was the first time I have travelled with Exodus and I was very impressed. I have travelled with other small-group adventure companies in the past, but I have to say for smooth, efficient organization, quality of hotels, and quality of tour leader, Exodus is probably the best. I was also very impressed with the quality of the bikes that were provided.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling around the Angkor Wat site was magical. Cycling along the back roads of the Mekong Delta and being greeted by a chorus of hellos and frenzied waving from small children was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Chai was wonderful. He was very organized and kept us informed at all times. He was also patient, kind, encouraging, and thoroughly likeable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring gel seats or better still, your own bicycle seat that is good for long distances. The bikes are excellent, but the seats are uncomfortable for long distances.

Rongai - Feb 2017

I consider myself to be fit but do not underestimate the final ascent/descent…… it is extremely hard work. We completed in 9.25 – hindsight tells me we should have gone slower as I had a pounding headache and was exhausted at the end. It doesn’t help that you then have another walk in the afternoon to cope with ! The walking prior to the ascent was a breeze if that helps ! The organisation was excellent but be prepared for very early nights and then being wide awake early on … food was first class and plenty of it. We were lucky with the weather (Feb) I would not want to walk Kilimanjaro in the rain and wind. Good luck

Most Inspirational Moment

It should have been reaching the summit but I was too exhausted to be inspired by it - the views at sunrise however are absolutely incredible and the clear skies filled with stars at night

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was very motivating

Advice for Potential Travellers

When you begin the ascent, half the pace you are comfortable with .... I didn't take diamox and think my headache was caused by the hood of my jacket rather than altitude- make sure your clothing is comfortable before you start as you will be too cold to adjust it

The Best Holiday Ever!

A great way for a complete beginner to experience cross country skiing and make lots of progress in a short time. We were tutored for nearly 6 hours on each of 6 days so even a complete novice and scaredy-cat, like me, was able to have enough skill to safely negotiate different types of terrain within a couple of days. You WILL fall over, which is fun in the soft snow (although sometimes hard to get back up from) but does hurt a bit on the hard, prepared tracks. The scenery was fantastic, I never felt cold because we were active, and the company was incredibly friendly and supportive. We were with our group (14) for meals, warm up/down exercises and in the evening but we divided into 2 (ability) groups to ski, which worked well.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved all of it, from first learning to snowplough through playing on the sparkling, crisp, virgin snow on the lake to touring and seeing the beautiful views from the higher terrain. Picking up speed on the prepared tracks and successfully cornering for the first time as well as traversing down through deep snow were thrilling (even though I am not a speed nor thrill seeker and would dread downhill skiing).

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mary and Ilse were completely dedicated to making our holiday the best it could be. I was very impressed with the amount of attention we each received and their skill in coaxing the nervous as well as challenging the talented, so that everyone got the most from the experience. They were very professional, knowledgeable and great fun to be with.

Vietnam Adventure and Angkor Wat

This was an excellent tour which enabled us to see and experience the many faces of Vietnam. It was fairly “full on” with some early starts but this was necessary in order to cover so much in the time. At the same time, it didn’t feel rushed and there were plenty of opportunities to explore on your own. The Angkor Wat extension, which 4 of us did from our group, was definitely worthwhile and certainly lived up to its reputation as one of the wonders of the world. It needed the nearly 3 days to do it justice. Being in Siem Reap and then Phnom Penh gave us chance to experience the differences between Cambodia and Vietnam. May be one extra day might have enabled some further exploration of other aspects of Cambodia such as the fishing villages but overall the balance was very good.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many experiences make it very difficult to highlight just a few. Halong Bay and overnight on the boat, the overnight train was interesting even if you wouldn't want to repeat it too often!,the bike rides, the Mekong and the homestay and getting to know the people. On a more sombre note, the visits connected with the war were a cause for reflection. This applied to Cambodia as well with the visit to the "killing fields" contrasting with the grandeur of the Angkor Wat sites.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hai was a brilliant leader with great enthusiasm and a sense of humour which went down very well with our group. He made sure that we got as much out of our visit as possible by giving us numerous opportunities to sample Vietnamese life in terms of transport, food, chatting with locals and imparting his sound knowledge of his country's history when it came to sightseeing. In Cambodia, both Sokhom for Angkor Wat and Thida for Phnom Penh were first rate guides.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Read the Travel Notes before committing. If you don't like early starts and and a busy itinery then this is probably not for you. However, if you want to experience as much as you can on a tour, then this trip would be no problem.

Discover Namibia

A fascinating kaleidoscope of scenery, climate and nature. From daunting, towering sand dunes, long desert roads, breezy Atlantic coast to exciting, animal filled plains. Always something to watch and thrill!

Most Inspirational Moment

Suddenly the six lionesses that had been dozing under a bush went into action. They started stalking, very slowly, evenly spaced out in an arrow formation. The leader in front, two behind and the other three at the back. Quite impressive!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ronney had excellent organisational skills and seemed to call on his ancestors when we wished to see something. Luckily his ancestors were agreeable!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for long drives on dusty, dirt roads. Namibia is a big country.

Snowshoeing in the Dolomites

Really lovely holiday Snowshoeing in the Dolomites. The hotel was very comfy, the scenery stunning, the trip leader couldn’t have been better and the group were great.

Most Inspirational Moment

Each walk was very different and all had their highlights.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader, Sara, couldn't have been more thoughtful. She was there for us the whole time, tended blisters, provided additional snacks and ensured we all had a good time.

South Africa Garden Route Leisurely

The trip was absolutely excellent. The pace whilst leisurely, was exciting and offered real variety in scenery and activity. The accommodation was first class with again a variety of venues, the highlight being the House Martin Guest Lodge in De Rust. The owners were incredibly welcoming and the food was exceptional. The safaris were well managed and offered opportunities to see up close a wide variety of animals. The visit to Mossel Bay and Hermanus was a terrific experience, the ocean views and the shark diving will always be a vivid memory. Cape Town and Table Mountain lived up to their iconic status. The trip organisation and guiding was first class.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational element was the sheer variety and grandeur of the landscape and ocean particularly in Tsitsikamma.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Justin Barr was outstanding as a guide. Totally in control even when one of the group was hurt in a fall. He was always available, nothing was too much trouble. His knowledge of South Africa, its wildlife and geography was very impressive. He kept the group together, picked excellent restaurants, and handled any complaints (they were very few) very professionally. Having had many guides over the years he was an exceptional example of best practice.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely go shark diving its a real adrenalin rush. Take the bus tour around Cape town, there isn't a great deal of spare time but its very good value and well worth making the effort. Avoid the duplex room in Sweet Lemon.

Discover Sri Lanka

Discover Sri Lanka – does exactly what it says on the tin! I really did get a good feel for this beautiful country – the people, the culture and amazing wildlife.

Our trip was extremely well put together and provided a wide variety of experiences, sights and encounters that made me fall for the place hook, line and sinker.

There was not a single problem – everything went like clockwork and as a lone traveller I felt very safe and secure.

It was a delight from start to finish – my best holiday ever. Thanks Exodus.

Most Inspirational Moment

My most inspirational moment was visting The Temple of the Tooth in Kandy.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was very knowledgable, very organised and ensured everything ran to plan. His sense of humour was well atuned to the British funny bone and the insights he shared were fasinating.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is not a lay about the pool kind of holiday - it was a busy itinery but it never felt too much. I might just book a few days off when you get home though!

Great way to see Morocco

We started out with a great leader in the person of Reese who though only 25 we soon learned had literally biked around the world once. Service was great, two terrific van drivers, great snacks laid out at breaks and lunch everyone with a folding stool before a table spread with good food. Throughly enjoyed the group as the only American in a group of 14 from the UK, Denmark and Canada. Though we were delayed and rerouted on day one by flash floods and landslides our leader Reese adapted and soon had us back on course. Fantastic scenery, rural villages, friendly people even when we didn’t speak the same language. I’ve tried several bike tour companies over the past few years but find Exodus beats them all.

Most Inspirational Moment

Starting the ride one morning atop a cold mountain in a small village surrounded by local women and children in an area where people make their living like centuries back, herding sheep and goats, tending orchards...and sharing some chocolate with the delighted ladies.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Reese, our leader, could not have been better, was seemingly everywhere, circling back on the road on his bike checking on all of us, coordinating the two vans, meals, hotels and full of knowledge.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Plan to dress in layers as days begin cold often but warm up a lot by mid day. Bring a gel pad for you bike seat. Plan to have a great time.

Discover Costa Rica

Holiday was everything I expected and more. We managed to see lots of things that we were not expecting to see and the weather was great (we only got rained on once!). Our tour leader was very enthusiastic and made the trip extra special. All the hotels and food were of a very good standard and our transport was excellent (even WiFi on the bus!).

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably seeing sloths, an anteater and the elusive Quetzel. All the birds were fantastic and loved watching the humming birds flitting from flower to flower. Everywhere we went was different and we saw new things every day.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Andres was our tour leader and made the trip special with his enthusiasm, knowledge and friendliness. He took time out to show us lots of animals and even on his time off would take us on trips to see new birds and animals.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Always carry a raincoat or umbrella as even in the dry season it does rain!
