Discover Costa Rica
Outside of San Jose, Costa Rica is a beautiful country with an abundant variety of birds, verdant countryside, the best of tropical fruit, very friendly people and an increasing sensitivity to protecting the environment. All-in-all, it was an excellent holiday.
Most Inspirational Moment
Strolling back from watching the red and golden skies as the sun set over the sea at Manuel Antonio, we spotted a two-toed sloth atop a tree by the roadside. On closer observation we were bowled over to see that a baby was spreadeagled across it's mother's tummy. The fur of the sloths was burnished by the glow of the setting sun. A truly magical moment.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Excellent - his knowledge of the birds was exceptional but he was also able to answer virtually any question about the country that members of the group through at him and was more than willing to give up extra time show us aspects of a country of which he was undoubtedly very proud.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Take a torch! Exodus mention this as an optional extra but I'd say it is an essential - not just because some of the lodges and rooms are very dark at night but because one is useful to spot wildlife after sunset.

Vietnam Adventure
This holiday is breath taking fast moving culturally stimulating. A treat for the eyes and the mind as you experience the sights sounds and people of Vietnam. We then moved on to Cambodia Ankor Wat which has amazing history before sobering thoughts and memories of Phnom Penh.
Most Inspirational Moment
The northern part of the trip in Vietnam was just brilliant
Thoughts on Group Leader
the group leader in Vietnam was an outstanding leader, i hold him in the highest regard.
The leader in Ankor Wat was a very considerate and caring.
The leader in Phnom Penh let us down, we rushed the Killing fields we rushed the Museum and Royal Residents. he did not turn up to take us to the airport and the taxi he sent was late

Discover Costa Rica
Truly the holiday of a lifetime. Could not improve on any elements of it. The pace and variety was perfect. Loved the Eco lodges, the wildlife and was very lucky with the company. The guide was fascinating and passionate about his subject. A walking encyclopaedia of Costa Rican facts and insights.
Most Inspirational Moment
Walking through cloud forests.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Gerado made our trip. He was fun and informative and helpful.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Just go! Don't bother packing anything even vaguely dressy. Will be a waste of suitcase space but take walking boots and masses of bug spray.

Sri Lankan Highways and Byways
A well balanced programme of moderate and sometimes very challenging cycling with lots of cultural interest as well.
Our group of 16 like minded people were challenged by some rather unseasonable wet weather during the first week but in many respects this made the trip even more memorable.
The cycling was a particular challenge due to the volume of traffic in towns ( lorries, vans, motorcycles and an abundance of tuk tuks ) as well as the notorious hill climb to Nuwara Eliya ( which we completed in very heavy rain ) ; however, I think we all went home feeling a great sense of achievement . Retrospective pleasure ?
I was pleased to see that Exodus are supporting small enterprises – our stops for tea, bananas, roti etc were a delight.
The hotels were mostly of exceptional standard and our meals at hotels and local restaurants were brilliant.Perhaps I’m biased being a big fan of spicy food.
Most Inspirational Moment
Completing the hill climb to Nuwara Eliya followed by our stay at the Hill Club hotel .
The hill country ride to Ella and our subsequent walk to the stunning Ella Gap viewpoint.
I also particularly enjoyed the day when we descended 1000 metres in altitude and on to Tissimaharama over a distance of 102 kms.

Suresh is a top guy. No wonder he's won the Exodus leaders award previously. He must be in line again.
Everything was well organised with intelligent alterations to the itinerary to cater for the wet weather we encountered.
Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately Suresh sustained an injury to his ankle which prevented him from cycling for a few days. I think that many leaders would have handed over to someone else but he carried on ( bandaged and using a crutch ) and still with a smile, despite the fact that he was in pain. Brilliant!
Mention should also be made of the back up team to include Upali the driver and Sandy the mechanic. Hard working, helpful and friendly people.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be prepared for traffic fumes in built up areas - particularly Kandy. I saw one motorcyclist using a face mask but that was it . If face masks for cycling work ( I'm certainly no expert on this ) it might be worth considering using one at times.

Snowshoeing in the Dolomites
Amazing week with perfect conditions. The area is beautiful and the walks are varied. Great equipment provided lovely hotel and our leader, Sara, could not be faulted
Most Inspirational Moment
Managing every walk - be prepared for some steep climbs and descents, each one is absolutely worth it
Thoughts on Group Leader
Sara was brilliant. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and incredibly talented. Nothing was too much trouble and she is passionate about her work. She even ran a stretching session at the end of the day to ease our aching muscles!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be prepared for some challenging routes, all of which are achievable and worth every step. There was more ascents than I expected - go with a sense of humour ready for when you first fall over, getting up again is interesting fo the novice!

Enjoyable
This holiday was a great opener for those who have little or no experience at previous winter sports. I really enjoyed the Husky sledging and snow shoeing was more fun than I anticipated.
Very cosy accommodation and although the food was not in anyway gourmet it was what I expected for a Nordic menu. (Would be nice actually if you could include a cookery lesson as a optional extra)
Would defiantly recommend as a winter holiday if you want to try a bit off everything and once you have had a lesson you can be as active or lazy as you like.
Most Inspirational Moment
Defiantly the husky sledge, have always wanted to do this.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Teddy (Bjorn) was very informative and consciencious of the needs of the group.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Take lots of books, or games, helps especially during the dark evenings.

Lovely area, great Hotel, excellent food and great gudes
If you are into cross country skiing or want to learn this is a great choice. The guides are very good and extremely helpful. The atmosphere is excellent and the fact the guides return so often speaks volumes. The hotel is comfortable and warm, the rooms are not stylish but are good, upgrade id you want a bigger one. The food is very good and a wide variety available for all tastes. The staff are very friendly and helping the environment and love of the area is as important as profit at this family run hotel.
Most Inspirational Moment
Seeing the sunrise on the Rondane NP Mountains
Thoughts on Group Leader
There wasn't one! All the guides helped the guests and no specific leader was needed. There are guests from Germany, Norway, Netherlands and GB and it worked just fine.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Mitts not Gloves definitely. Take layers but you don't need too much kit as you exercise so much. Buffs are good

Cycling Cuba
Overall good experience with some interesting cycling towards the end of the tour . Cuba is a big island and a lot is crammed in resulting in the tour having an attritional feel with some tedious transfers and insufficient time to explore places such as Camaguey, Bayamo, Santiago de Cuba and for those not staying extra days, particularly Havana.
Most Inspirational Moment
Time spent in Havana but I thought the most typically West Indian place was El Salton, which was gorgeous.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Lismar is excellent, his English impressive and he is a font of information and a strong cyclist, too.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be careful of your food and drink - not only what you eat and drink (tummy bugs galore with our group) but what could have become mixed with it _ Rosie found a large piece of broken glass in her glass at the first lunch stop by the wharf in Old Havana( which Lismar took up with management) and more broken glass in her ice cream at the lunch stop at Santa Clara.

Snowshoeing in the Catalan Pyrenees
The Catalan Pyrenees are beautiful and the small villages are remote and quiet during the winter. On this trip we snowshoed through the valleys and forests with some wonderful views, while staying in very friendly local family-run hotels.
Most Inspirational Moment
The trip to the Fogueruix Pass was on a lovely day with fresh snow so the views from the col were beautiful and the descent, contouring along the valley back to Son, gave us panoramas of the day's walk.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Miguel is a great ambassador for the Catalan region and is very knowledgeable about the villages and mountains, He was also very pro-active in adjusting the routes to the conditions as we were often walking in quite changeable weather. He worked very hard to introduce us to local produce and people so that we could appreciate the uniqueness of this area of Spain.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The weather is variable as expected in any mountain in winter so lots of layers are needed as well as sun glasses and sun cream. The hotels and villages are quiet in the evenings so lots of opportunities to chat or read. There is very little extra expense once in the Pyrenees apart from the occasional beer or coffee.
