Thoughts on Group Leader
Eli was an excellent guide… enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaging… was able to come up with lots of additional off piste activities that gave additional insights into local life.

Really enjoyed the hike up Pacaya volcano… but would probably say Tikal was the biggest highlight… a fabulous site.

A very memorable experience travelling from the amazing museums in Cairo, and then down to the tombs and temples of first Aswan then Luxor. We followed the stories of various characters, learning how to recognise Pharaohs and gods from their pictures and symbols. It was dusty and polluted in Cairo (and the traffic was indescribable!). Aswan was fresher and more laid back, and Luxor between the two (I was glad of my hat and drank lots of water – the sun in Valley Of The Kings was unforgiving!). The hotels were great, with beautiful pools. I was really pleased that I had chosen rooms with a Nile view where available. The food was good but for a non meat eater sometimes a little unimaginative. The Nubian restaurant in Aswan (included) and Abydos Nile View (not included) were highlights. I was also pleased that I chose to stay an extra two nights in Luxor- the pool really does float on the Nile!
So difficult to choose! Obviously the pyramids are iconic, and why I chose this trip, but there is so much more! But if pushed - the mummies in the Museum of Civilisation and Abu Simbal. I have also returned home with a new inspirational hero in my life - Queen Hatshepsut!
Mohamed made the whole experience. His knowledge and storytelling brought the characters to life, and this developed as we visited all the sites throughout the trip. But his kindness, patience and thoughtfulness brought such pleasure to our whole group (7 of us). Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. He was our friend, teacher and mother! He even brought us baklava baked by his Mum in Aswan. He knew everyone where we visited, he gave market sellers the evil eye if he thought we were being given a bad deal and he had an endless supply of £20 notes for toilet trips!! All the drivers were brilliant- how they cope with Cairo traffic and the endless potholes I do not know! The two local Exodus reps in Cairo and Luxor were excellent in guiding us through the airport process (security is long, inconsistent and thorough).
Go! Use your hat and sunscreen. Drink your water. Be prepared for journeys that are much longer than expected, and much more uncomfortable. Use the hotel pools and enjoy the Nile views. The pace is fine but you see an awful lot in a relatively short time which can have an overwhelming impact on all your senses. Take time to reflect, it will be over in the blink of an eye.
Great leader, nice itinerary, good standard of accommodation
The leader (Jordan Pratt), the scenery especially around Mount Cook and Milford Sound, Christchurch and Queenstown
Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, organised, considerate, helpful, nothing was too much trouble
Fantastic leader in Ruwan, with an excellent support team made every thing happen smoothly and with many smiles. Great cycling and Ruwan knowledgeable told us about many aspects of Sri Lankan life and its history. Lots of interesting activities and places visited as well as great cycling. We were extremely well fed and watered, with a huge variety of local food and snacks. The roads bikes were great and well maintained.
Completing the big climb! The gradient is relatively kind, which really helped! The leader, his team and a great group. Cycling through the tea plantations.
Ruwan is a fantastic caring leader with superb organisational and communication skills. He has a deep and wide knowledge of all things Sri Lankan and his passion for history shines through.
Trip itinerary really covered all the highlights. Melissa, our guide, was EXCELLENT! She was very informative, enthusiastic, and patient.
Basilica cistern. Visiting different mosques really helped me to understand the history of the Ottoman Empire and more fully appreciate the Muslim religion. We were a really tight group, and everyone helped each other.
Best trip leader I ever had! She even went out of her way to help me celebrate my birthday with the group. She also tried to teach us some Turkish and shared her recipes with us. I truly hope you will use her again and again for all your Istanbul/Turkey trips.
Our trip to the Kruger National Park was nothing short of unforgettable. The itinerary was incredibly well planned, giving us the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. We had more than enough time to explore the park’s beauty, and still enjoy peaceful downtime by the pool, soaking in the atmosphere and the breathtaking surroundings.
The scenery was truly awe‑inspiring—from holding our breath as we watched lions in their natural habitat, to being completely mesmerized during the panoramic route. Every moment felt magical.
A huge part of what made this experience exceptional was our guide. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable, but also a true people’s person—engaging, warm, and passionate about the wildlife and the park. His insights and enthusiasm added so much to the journey.
This trip was an incredible blend of excitement, beauty, and serenity. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and meaningful experience in nature.
God's Window
fantastic
This is a phenomenal trip for nature lovers and photographers. Remember your insect repellent!
The Kruger National Park, known for being one of the best places on the planet to have the chance to view the Big Five. It is a must visit for first timers to South Africa. The itinerary is beautifully balanced with safari and a chance to view natural wonders along the Panoramic Route. I would highly recommend this trip if you are a wildlife enthusiast!
The amount of wildlife viewings in a single drive was incredible. The food was outstanding
Our group leader was knowledgeable about wildlife, nature conservation and the natural wonders and very pleasant. I felt he handled the group well and could answer all of our questions
Invest in a good pair of binoculars, sunscreen even when it is cloudy and apply anti insect spray. This is the trip for you if you are a photographer!
The trip was so well organised from start to finish.
Loved seeing the orangutans and the boat trips on the river in Borneo. Staying in Malacca just before the Chinese new year was amazing. Fantastic trip through the mangroves in Langkawi! Loved everything!
James was an amazing leader - everything planned and discussed with us beforehand. Timings were always agreed upon, restaurants discussed and then booked. He always asked whether we wanted to eat together - which we did! James always went over and above what he had to do, in our free time he offered suggestions as to what we would could do and often took us! He had so much knowledge and stories that we loved listening to. A great leader! In Borneo everything ran very smoothly with Beverley, she was a lovely guide who quietly organised everything for us. Her local knowledge was great and we saw so many different animals and birds.
The trip we went on was Borneo and the Malaysian Peninsula. I knew so little about the areas other than the fact that there were orangutans, sun bears, proboscis monkeys, and rainforests, which had a great draw to me. There was so so much more! Having James Ling as our guide made it one of the best trips we have experienced.
Naturally, seeing the orangutans, Proboscis monkeys, and Sun Bears was a highlight since that was something I had wanted to see. Having our guide, James Ling, made an amazing trip even better. We have been fortunate enough to have traveled on many guided trips and would rate James Ling as a number-one guide. He is such an asset to Exodus Travels. Seeing the many many sights of Malaysia was a highlight as well. Going into the trip, I did not know much about Malaysia, and it was a country I was so taken with.
James Ling---outstanding leader and guide!!! James did so very much to make the experience good for us. There were 16 people with individual needs and wants, and James did his best to help and take care of those needs. He has so much knowledge of all aspects of Malaysia and enriched us in our knowledge of that. From the very first arrival at Kuala Lumpur, James greeted each and every one of us by our first name. James added extra activities to the trip, and we came away with such an appreciation of so many aspects of Malaysia. He kept us informed of times, etc., via WhatsApp, which was helpful to keep us all organized and knowing times and other information deemed important. James also let us know some of his own life and family, which made him more of a "person" rather than just our guide. I continued to be impressed by his ability to inject so much into the trip, making it a trip to remember. It seemed as if he had an identical twin (or even a triplet), as he had so much energy and got so much done. If we asked a question, he either knew the answer or would figure it out for us. The only thing I would have suggested was for James to slow down a little on the walking, as my husband and I are 76. We were able to keep up, but his pace was so fast. We understood that after the fact that there were so many things James wanted for us to see and do so that excused the fast pace. He knew restaurants that were good in taste and safe for us to eat at. It was appreciated that we did not eat at "chain restaurants" but experienced local food. It was also appreciated that he added so much to the itinerary. James is so appreciated for all he showed us and taught us. His patience was apparent each and every day. He was what made the Malaysian part of the tour so great. I would encourage other travelers who are going on this trip to find out if James Ling is the tour leader. My husband celebrated a birthday while on the trip and James made arrangements with the hotel for us to have a special room to eat and celebrate as well as getting a cake for us. James did so much each and every day.
Lovely short break to an interesting City with centuries of history. Excellent organisation prior to the trip and very good short break. The guide was exceptional.
The visits to the mosques and underground water storage bulidings. Learning about the Roman and Ottoman empires.
Melissa was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Turkey and the history over centuries She was well organised and arranged everything on public transport and the boat trip as well as entrance to buildings. Her English was excellent.
