Cycling the Lake District of Chile & Argentina

Easy to book and well chsoen guiding businesses. The holiday is as described by Exodus and the accommodation and equipment good.

Most Inspirational Moment

Riding on the gravel on an electric bike and the wonderful countryside. Some spectacularly situated hotels. We also had warm sunny weather every day!

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was always pleasant and helpful. He was sociable with the group and he even managed to find an electric bike for a member of the group during the holiday.

Winter in the Baltics, Helsinki and Stockholm

The trip was very well organised – hotels, transportation, city walking tours, evening meals etc were all arranged perfectly. Our guide, Lukas, was brilliant and the smallish group of just 10 guests all got on together very well.

Most Inspirational Moment

Tallinn was possibly the most interesting city. We also enjoyed visiting the Museum of Occupation in Riga, one of our guide's recommendations. The visit to the chocolate factory was a lot more fun than people expected (bringing out the children in us!). And evening meals together (especially at restaurants serving local cuisine) were a great way to end the day.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lukas was a very helpful and thoughtful guide. He ensured that we knew all the details of times, meeting places etc; he kept us well informed about local history etc; and shared with us stories about himself and his family and life in the Baltic States. He was always very concerned for his group's safety and well being. His recommendations on places to eat, dishes to try and places to visit were first class. And he was open and friendly without being intrusive or dominating conversation.

Winter in the Baltics, Helsinki and Stockholm

Excellent guide and a very interesting tour with the right balance of organised guided city walks and free time to explore. The chocolate and marzipan activities were fun, too.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting all the capitals, 5 in all.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lukas is very knowledgeable, caring and organised.

Transylvania Winter Walk & Snowshoe

Well organised trip. Excellent guide with local knowledge. Good balance of experiences.

Most Inspirational Moment

Snow showing to the mountain hut. Visiting the bear sanctuary and Vulcan fortified church.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Great guide who went out of his way to ensure people were happy and able to participate. He had great local knowledge and if unsure asked google! ( eg footprints of animal in the snow!)

Foothills of the Himalaya

The itinerary was excellent, and thanks to our wonderful tour guide, Anil Kumar, the trip was well executed, and we didn’t miss a thing. He was very organized, calm, professional, and friendly. The tour itself was varied and offered the group the opportunity to experience the culture and local religions. I can highly recommend this tour.

Most Inspirational Moment

The arrti ceremony on the banks of the Ganges River and the varied experiences in Shimla.

Swedish Lapland Winter Adventure

A brilliant, varied trip in a wilderness area. Loved the talks from Lars on the predator species. Janne and Evelina were excellent, experienced guides. They would give you help if needed but also very encouraging of us just giving things a go. The dog sledding was even better that I was expecting as got to go through the whole process with the dogs before and after the sledding so felt like we were properly involved. And so interesting to meet with Henrick and hear about reindeer herding and the challenges. The added bonus was seeing the Northern Lights!

Most Inspirational Moment

The forest skiing to stay the night in the cabin was my top highlight but the whole trip was brilliant.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Janne was brilliant. He had the right balance of showing us how to do things but also just encouraging us to give it a go. He looked after the group very well, checking how we were feeling, especially as it was very cold. He had lots of interesting information about the tracks we were seeing in the snow, the local environment and the ways of life in the region.

Cycle the Back Roads of Sri Lanka

Excellent route, lots of cycling and less transfer by bus. Guide and support crew were fantastic. The balance of the rides was great in terms of distance and difficulty. The planning of the routes and the environment they went through was well thought out. Couple of the hotels prevented a 10/10. What made the trip was Ruwan the guide. His knowledge, attention to detail and friendly helpful nature was exceptional. His support staff were also excellent and made the whole experience memorable.

Most Inspirational Moment

The guides and support staff made the trip memorable. The guides knowledge of history, culture, wildlife and environment enabled you to get a true understanding of Sri Lanka.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ruwan was exceptional. His organisation, knowledge, time keeping, friendliness, management skills were outstanding. He made the trip come to life and enabled us to immerse ourselves in the culture of the country.

Cycle the Back Roads of Sri Lanka

Good routes, hotels generally v good. Tour guide and support team were excellent. Tipping was a significant added cost to the trip cost

Most Inspirational Moment

Diligent, sociable, knowledge, worked very hard, and under stress at times. Very effective and a joy to be with. Highly recommended.

Unforgettable Experience in Southern India

This was my first time to India and I decided I wanted to start in the south because I heard it was a bit more beginner friendly and I was traveling with my daughter in her late teens for our first time just the two of us. I was blown away by the warm hospitality, the scenery, the food and how well organized this trip was. The itinerary is varied and really includes a bit of everything you need to see in Kerala and Tamil Nadu: verdant tea plantations, historical architecture and incredible access to temples, welcoming and warm connection with local people and guides, spice gardens, wildlife preserves, drifting down the backwaters in a houseboat with your own cook and captain, I still can’t believe we did and saw so much. We ate a huge meal one night with a local family and then toured a village and learned about traditional crafts with another family, we got beach and pool time and watched thunderstorms out over the Arabian Sea as we enjoyed dinner as a group. Just truly an unforgettable experience every step of the way.

Most Inspirational Moment

It's so hard to name just one inspiring moment, but I will say one of the top experiences in mine and my daughter's life is going to the closing ceremony at the Sri Meenakshi temple in Madurai. You cannot bring your phone into the temple, you must remove your shoes, there are many people going there to get blessings and pray, you're just forced to be there present in the moment and take it all in. When the ceremony starts, the air fills with incense and music, the oil lights are burning, the flowers are laid and everyone is so focused on the ritual unfolding before their eyes. Truly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Then, the next day, the group goes back to see the temple during the day time and when we were there an actual elephant came walking through!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader, Biju, is truly one of the best guides in the world, if not one of the best human beings in the world. He was warm and genuinely welcoming to everyone in our group and all the local people we came in contact with really loved him too. He was knowledgeable on every subject that we discussed and I watched him tend to everyone, whether they had dietary requirements or other needs. Biju is what made this trip go from excellent to unforgettable in every way.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I would really recommend that you try to do as many of the optional excursions as you can as they each offer a unique way of experiencing southern India and Kerala or Tamil Nadu and they are all so varied. I would also recommend that if your guide offers to take you to a local place to eat, go there and try all the things they suggest, you cannot go wrong with the food in Kerala, it is sooo good!
