Good, reliable skiing. Even when snow is thin there’s always something, and this season conditions were more than adequate – I could finally reach the Cortina cross-country centre (I’ve been waiting since 1988 to get there).

All were great
A well planned and varied itinerary which provided a good insight into the people, culture and landscape of the island. All the activities were very enjoyable and there was plenty of free time for relaxation at the various hotels. Cycling, walking and the river rafting were a great way of seeing local life and working off some calories from the generally good food. The lunches in the Tsunami House and local cafe were a welcome opportunity to sample local food in authentic surroundings.
There were many including-Sigirya Rock, elephant safari in the rain, rafting and swimming with locals in the river at Kitulgala and visiting Galle.
Roshan was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide with a very calm and relaxed approach. Although not appearing to get overly involved, everything ran very smoothly under his guidance and I welcomed his laid back input. The driver did an excellent job on the mainly busy and chaotic roads and the co- driver was also helpful and courteous.
Be prepared for lots of hotel buffet food which was generally fine and varied, but there are a couple of opportunities to eat out in Kandy and Columbo. There were a few long drives but nothing compared to other similar holidays and we generally arrived in good time for a swim or relax. Don't be afraid of the grade 3 river rafting, it was really fun and not too scarey !!
Excellent trip with a lot packed in to such a short time. You get to see much more than if you had just booked a trip to stay in Reyjavik. One of the most beautiful Countries I’ve ever been to.
Seeing the Northern Lights, seeing the seals playing in the lagoon and ice walking on the Glacier. Beautiful! (Couldn't narrow it down to just one!)
Excellent. David is from England but has lived in Iceland for 10 years. He knew everything there was to know about Iceland and coupled it with a British sense of humour! He was keen to make the experience as great as possible for everyone whilst being safety conscious at the same time (you can't influence the weather!) True professional!
Take lots of layers as the weather is changeable. My head was lovely and snug, however one pair of gloves did not keep my hands warm when taking photos! Take a tripod for Northern Lights photos.
This was a great holiday – I arrived feeling exhausted, left feeling rested, but without the slovenly feeling that lying on a sun lounger gives you. The sun shone every day, the views were incredible, the people were great and I had a super time. Our group was quite mixed in ages, and only 4 out of the 14 knew each other, so if you are thinking of coming on your own, you would be in good company.
We had a great day last day walking to frozen lakes way above the village - it was a hard 5 hours walk to get there, with an hour over snow but we were met with an amazing view, including men fishing on the lake shores. Sitting on the terrace in the sun with a mint tea watching the sun go down each evening was just lovely. An afternoon spent in the village hammam was an eye opener, and and experience never to be forgotten!
Hassan was great - very knowledgeable, hard working and funny. He was professional, even in the face of difficult clients; I'd actively choose one of his trips if I were returning to Morocco again.
Although the days were hot, the wind was very cold, and as soon as the sun went down, it was freezing! The gite has no heating, other than a gas heater in the room where you eat, so it's pretty nippy. Make sure you take bring a few layers, and a good warm sleeping bag. The gite sells a few chocolate bars and water, but a few snacks from home didn't go amiss on the long days walking. Rubbish dumping seems to be a bit of a problem throughout Morocco, so if you've got a water filtering system, or water tablets, it's well worth bring them so you don't add to the mound of plastic water bottles lying around.
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We were a small group of nine people.
Pepe our leader was very good and kept us up to date with all the schedules and where we would be walking to on the day as sometimes due to weather conditions changes needed to be made.
I went on the upgraded trip (no camping) and I found all of the hostels and hotels very comfortable and the staff were accommodating.
Some of us were lucky to see ice being calved from the glacier – that was amazing.
Walking on the glacier and being mesmerised by the stunning colours of the icebergs and glaciers. Walking in the Tierra del Fuego National Park Hiking to the base camp of Fitzroy
Pepe was very good group leader. He was very informative, had a good command of the English language. He was resourceful in arranging trips and booking tables at restaurants at short notice for us. Pepe had a good sense of humour and kept us entertained.
Be prepared for the very long road trips in the mini bus.
A great trip. The cycling (in terms of interesting views, countryside and twisty/rolling roads) steadily improve over the 2-weeks to some fantastic days that mix fascinating countryside with oxen plowing the tobacco fields, hedges alive with flowers and weaving through the traffic in the form of ponies and traps, rickshaws and 1940’s cars as we head through little towns.
The local kids shouting encouragement as I tried to get up the hills.
Great. full of anecdotes of Cuban life, always with both sides of each story.
Take your own (soft) saddle, bike water bottle and just go (even if, like me, you haven't done much/any cycling before).
For me, this was one of those times where I had little in the way of understanding of what I was letting myself in for, yeah, it’s rated as a 7 out of 10 (tough), can’t be that hard right? Easy, I can make it. Actually I did ‘make it’, don’t get me wrong this is a physically challenging ‘holiday’, I found the altitude the hardest part. Even though I found it tough it was hugely rewarding and I would absolutely recommend this trip.
For me, three things; meeting someone who'd completed the trip the day before saying, "would you like to have my hot water bottle" - I'm a guy, no hot water bottle for me (mistake) Meeting someone who was easily 65+ and had completed all the treks with a smile, if they can do it so can I right? The second trek, maybe not as high as Toubkal but by far the most fun! Kept me going.
Top, very tentative, informative, good group leader. Even managed to keep up with us on the - end of trip party - just.
Read the trip notes and take note of the recommended equipment to take. (I missed I needed a sleeping bag) during the winter walks, I'd rent the Ice Axe and crampons on offer rather than taking my own, this is more from a weight perspective than anything else.
What an incredible holiday! Everything exceeded expectations from the excellent knowledge and planning from our guide to the food and fabulous scenery Vietnam provides, it’s going to take a lot to beat this trip.
Being involved in a New Year world record competition at our hotel in Nha Tring
Fantastic
Great week with congenial company, brilliant guide and instructor and excellent range of activities.
The range of available activities, driving my own snowmobile and being in charge of a dog sledding team.
Henri was amazing, so patient, cheerful and encouraging at all times. He was knowledgeable and fun.
Take a hairdryer, and don't expect luxurious surroundings. Basecamp is great, but it could be felt to be a bit spartan.
This is an amazing and very spiritual place. The scenery is absolutely spectacular. The stars are unrivaled. The hiking is technical and challenging, and makes you focus in a way that is very rejuvenating. The homestay was a wonderful experience. The crew that we had while camping were amazing, and we were always in awe when it felt like we had hiked so far away, and then two of our guys would show up with tea or lunch!!
I have to say although it was very brief, the most inspirational moment was catching a glimpse of a snow leopard in the wild. What an incredible animal, and I feel very lucky to have seen it in it's home.
Chosphel Sonam was excellent. He has a good sense of humor and made sure everything was done for our trip to run smoothly.
Of course you want to see a snow leopard in the wild. But it is certainly not a guarantee. We didn't see one until the last day, and even then it was just a few seconds. I was actually surprised at how desolate the place is. Besides snow leopards, I thought we would see other wildlife. We did see signs of wildlife, but really saw very little. The scenery and experience is worth it, but if you are expecting to see a lot of wildlife you will be disappointed. Also, it is really, really cold at night so take the absolute best sleeping bag you can!!!!
