Relaxing, Adventuo

I’ve just returned from this tour and can honestly say it exceeded all expectations.

From start to finish, the trip was exceptionally well organised, with every detail thoughtfully planned.

The cycling routes offered a perfect way to take in Kerala’s beautiful coastline and local culture. Each day brought something new and memorable, with a fantastic range of activities and experiences that really made the trip special – with lots of surprise cultural experiences that we did not expect.

The food was excellent throughout, fresh, varied, and full of flavour and the hotels were of a great standard. Having access to swimming pools at many of the accommodations was a real bonus and a great way to relax after a day’s cycling.

Overall, this was a truly fantastic holiday. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-organised, active trip with great food, comfortable accommodation, and unforgettable experiences.

There are so many! From the local wedding we visited, to learning and watching local craftsman keeping traditions alive to all of the super friendly locals and even a Hindu procession.

Thoughts on Group Leader

A special mention must go to our group leader and his team, Safi, Shibu and Vinnie who were outstanding throughout, professional, supportive, and genuinely passionate about making sure everyone had the best possible experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't be put off if you're not a regular cyclist or haven't been on a bike for a while, the route is very flat and there is no hurry or race to get to the next stop, its a very good relaxed pace.

Cycling Morocco

Absolutely fantastic, you can focus on your cycling, the culture and the natural beauty. Everything else is taken care of.

Most Inspirational Moment

Having lunch 4000ft up a mountain.

Muhamid was a fantastic leader, as well as all the other members,

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do it!

A fantastic country to visit

Colombia is the second most bio-diverse country in the world behind Brazil. The landscape is truly breath-taking. Hilly / mountainous and very green and lush. A bit like New Zealand only with lots more trees, really beautiful. We felt safe the entire time, it’s reputation for being a “dodgy place” is no longer justified, the days of drugs and violence are in the past.

Most Inspirational Moment

Many things. The Tatacoa desert (not strictly a desert) is an amazing landscape, the likes of which I have never seen before. Also really loved Communa 13 in Medellin and Cartgena.

David was simply the best guide I have ever had, really went out of his way to be helpful, such a genuinely nice guy.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book it, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to take binoculars, there are so many birds here!

Highlights of Albania

Well put together and managed trip. Fab trip with varied itinery, good hotels and expert guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Berat, Gjirokaster and Butrint.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was passionate and knowledgeable about Albania and shared this with us building a clear picture of Albania's history and importance in Europe. The love for his country really shone through. He has a cracking sense of humour and really made the trip special. A huge asset to Exodus, keeping us all on track, well fed and happy.

Vietnam Highlights

We had an excellent 8 days trip in Vietnam with many highlights. We met new people & most importantly had a fantastic guide called Lucky, who was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Most Inspirational Moment

We had many highlights - going to the Hanoi Market, visiting many temples, our boat trip to Harlong Bay, our cycling tour around Hoi An and also attending the cookery class.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very friendly & knowledgeable

An amazing experience

I enjoyed this trip so much, we saw so many animals in the beautiful National parks and the lodges were comfortable and relaxing at the end of the day. Each day was very full and there is a lot of moving from place to place, but that meant we experienced different environments and were able to see a great variety of birds and animals. It was also interesting when we passed through towns bustling with people, on Sundays children in their best clothes going to church, lots of little stalls with fruit and veg, children going to school and Masai herding their cows, sheep and goat by the side of the busy roads.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many, but maybe seeing Mt Kilimanjaro appear from the clouds as I walked to breakfast one morning. Also when I startled a giraffe that I thought was a statue as I walked by in the half light!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our driver/guide was full of interesting information and kept us all informed and on time. The vehicle was always clean and there were only four in each one so it was easy to get a good view. He managed to spot a variety of animals and was able to answer all our questions fully and clearly. He was always very calm and experienced and made me feel absolutely safe.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This week is very full on and there is virtually no down time. The rains had started so we could not access all the tracks due to flooding and the potholes were little craters. We got caught in a massive traffic jam, but that is part of the experience. The vehicles are very comfortable and not cramped at all but on the travel days I suggest you take a snack in your bag, just in case you are very late for lunch. There was always plenty of drinking water. The Carnivore Restaurant that we visit on day 4 has a very delicious and varied menu for non meat eaters.

Fantastic trip

It was a beautiful ride, every day a little bit different. Joao was an excellent guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

The amazing Atlantic views at Mira and Sao Pedro de Moel

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Told us each day what to expect with expert knowledge and made me as a fairly inexperienced cyclist at my ease. It is important to be prepared and confident though.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for long days but the coffee stops are great. All restaurants are well chosen so beautiful meals.

Discover Guatemala

This is our second trip with Exodus. My wife picked out the company and our first trip from a Google search of five words……. Serendipity. We’ve found our travel team.

Most Inspirational Moment

Tikal and Antigua Guatemala

Eli is the ABSOLUTE BEST!! He put the trip over the top. We found Eli eagerly greeting us at the airport upon arrival (our flight was a bit late). Within 15 minutes we knew he was going to be good. You could sense the pride he has for his country, yet he gives you a seemingly unbiased lesson into the history. His communication skills are excellent, and if ever asked a question he didn't know the answer to, he found it quickly. Nothing bothered Eli, as he bounced from one thing to the next. He took us to some very "local" and off the path spots. We witnessed things we never thought we would. Eli was always accessible and concerned with everyone's comfort and understanding. On top of being the consummate guide, he is a character! Eli is funny and humble and smart and, as my wife says, too cute. The country of Guatemala is beautiful, and I can't think of a better representative of it than Eli. Don't ever let him go....

Covering a huge area in this vast country of contrasts.

This was a full-on tour covering a huge part of Brazil, and although you by no means see the whole country this trip is a great taster and feels like you’re getting deeply into different diverse regions and not just skimming the surface. The busy beaches and spectacular sites of Rio are as promised but a real surprise was the huge inner city rainforest park at Tijuca, just beautiful and a real oasis within the madness. South onto Paraty: a unique combination of preserved 17th-century Portuguese colonial architecture, vibrant culture, and natural surroundings. It is a UNESCO-listed site known for its charming cobblestone pedestrian streets, lively nightlife, boat trips to local islands, and exquisite local dining.

There followed an early rise and drive to Sao Paolo to fly to Iguacu. Of couse the Falls didn’t disappoint and for me fulfilled a long ambition to visit. We were told it was relatively quiet but still felt very crowded. But in the heat and spray there was no rush, and watching all the selfie-takers provides its own entertainment!

Another flight to Manaus led us into the hot, humid rainforest Amazon region by boat, and a small lodge run by local people. They looked after and fed us well, and it provided a base for several boat trips and forest walks at day and night. It feels remote and peaceful and allows plenty of time for spotting wildlife in beautiful natural surroundings.

Most Inspirational Moment

To choose one single moment is difficult as this trip covers a wide area, and of course each day finds different experiences. One thing that surprised me was the excellent food. Brazil’s food culture is incredibly diverse, shaped by a blend of Indigenous, African, and Portuguese influences. Each region offers its own specialties, from seafood-rich dishes to hearty, meat-focused cuisine. Staples like rice, beans, cassava, and tropical fruits form the basis of many meals. Every time I ate fish it was fresh and beautifully presented. Meeting the indigenous people at the cassava processing place was a lovely time as they demonstrated the incredible uses for their staple crop.

The leader Frederico Crema (Fred) was the ideal guide for this kind of tour. He had extensive knowledge of the tourist sites and local customs, wildlife and a talent for logistics, organisation and communication. This was the first outing for this trip for Exodus but not for Fred. He had a lot of experience in trips of all kinds around Brazil and he handled everything with enthusiasm, ease and good humour. It was a small group and he kept us informed and entertained. He had a love of food and music and these things came in useful as he arranged for us to eat at some unique and special places, and suggested live music venues on several evenings. The Bottles Club (birthplace of the Bossa Nova) in Rio was a real highlight.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack light as it's a warm climate with varied environments. Breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and swim wear for beaches/rivers. The walk in Tijuca can be steep and wet under foot. Water bottle to stay hydrated. Carry a copy of your passport, and a small day bag for outings. Power adapters are 3 pin Type N, but I'd buy one in Rio as they are much cheaper there and you probably won't need it outside Brazil. There are some long drives and early starts for internal flights, but as this trip was in development and our feedback to the leader is taken on board this could be adjusted in future trips. If Fred is your guide trust his judgement, if he suggests something just do it. You won't regret it 🙂
