Step into the Amazing Amalfi Coast!

We had a wonderful week walking the quieter part of the Amalfi Coast, seeing the coastline, beaches, small villages, wooded areas & climbing down a LOT of steps but they were worth the effort & aching legs to arrive in wonderful places!
The hotel is lovely with very welcoming staff & the food is traditional home made Italian which is really nice!
We enjoyed the little extras too like the pizza making & tasting evening, the kitchen tour & a visit to the local cheese maker (THE best ricotta cheese we have ever tasted!) We didn’t want to leave!

Most Inspirational Moment

Turning the corner & seeing the Vesuvius crater for the first time! Visiting Ravello which is a gorgeous little village & much quieter than bustling Amalfi!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Veriano had a great sense of humour & shared his knowledge of the local area with us. He built in lots of rest stops, especially when negotiating the many, many, many, many steps! He always ensured that everybody was happy & didn't feel rushed which made it a good experience all around!

Advice for Potential Travellers

The best bit of advice is to train for the thousands of steps that you will walk on, especially 'step down' exercises to lessen the burden on your knees or use poles if you are confident with them. There were 3 walking & 1 sightseeing group at the hotel at the same time as us so be prepared for itinerary changes-we ended up walking 3 back to back 7 mile walks which can be challenging! Come prepared & have a fantastic time!

Stunning views, stunning hotel and good workout!

Blue skies, sun and absolutely stunning mountain views where the Dolomites meet the Alps. This trip offers plenty of fresh air and exercise. And then after trekking all day coming back to relax in the sauna of the gorgeous Adler hotel and then look forward to a delicious evening meal in the hotel’s beautiful dining room, or wine cave was a real treat. The hotel staff were just fabulous.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many incredible moments: enjoying fresh, deep snow, blue skies and sunshine; trekking through woods and feeling on top of the world on the Durrekopf peak and Monte Piano with spectacular views across the Dolomites; the cosiness of the hotel and wellness centre and from a culinary point of view, the Adler breakfasts and the Strudel at the Alp Nemes Hutte were something else!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Jef was brilliant. He was super organised and his evening briefings were thorough and clear. He was also hugely knowledgeable about the mountains and the nature. He was kind and considerate e.g. in helping with snow shoe and feet issues, but also 100% professional and I felt he had everything fully under control. He was probably one of the best Exodus guides I've been away with.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We did 50km over 4 days on snow shoes and spikes and part of the 12km treks we did involved fairly long ascents. The snow was also pretty deep in places so if you slipped off the track you might end up up to your thigh in fresh snow which was a lot of fun. I'm definitely not unfit but let's put it this way, with the altitude and trekking most of the day I slept really well. I would suggest a bit of uphill training wouldn't go amiss on this trip.

Wonderful introduction to a quieter, less touristy Japan

Delightful variety of experiences, wonderful group leader. This trip was definitely more than the sum of its parts. Many of the visits to artisanal towns, ie, for porcelain, candles and to castles didn’t really resonate with me personally. There were more stays in cities than I would have liked, as I expected this to be more rural-oriented. Yet somehow, the whole experience, with the outdoor-orientation of the group, great food, wonderful hotels, an unforgettable group leader, added up to a trip I’ll always cherish. It was a perfect introduction to Japan for me.

One of the great highlights of the experience! So kind, sweet, attentive and organized. A remarkable human being!

Advice for Potential Travellers

I am a pretty experienced hiker and cyclist, yet I found one of the hikes a bit challenging and the cycling pace a bit fast, given it was my first ride of the season. However the group was organized flexibly so the slower hikers or bikers were accommodated. Though I'd initially thought that the days separated from our main luggage would be an inconvenience, it turned out to be a blessing, making for easier, lighter traveling.

Super happy friendly locals, very varied terrain, loads of wildlife and a wide ranging introduction into Sri Lankan culture.

Most Inspirational Moment

An assault on the sense. Bright colours in flowers and clothes. Excellent tasty food everywhere. Paddy fields and mountains. Challenging cycle climbs and some stupendous descents.

Suresh was amazing. Anticipating everyone’s wishes and delivering. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Have no doubt this is one of the best. So glad we went.

Glorious scenery

Stunning lakes shimmering in sunlight with volcano summits in the haze.
Some challenging but thoroughly enjoyable rides interspersed with some stunning and relaxing boat rides.

Difficult to pick but the stunning terrain, friendly locals and warm welcomes.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lau was a very competent leader ensuring we were all safe and comfortable. She had a great rapport with her support team. She negotiated the border crossings in a very calm manner no matter what happened. A special moment was when she introduced us to her father who played as part of a tango group. Splendid evening.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It’s tough but if you are fit and resilient then a sense of achievement awaits. Beautiful countries.

Fantastic Experience

Would thoroughly recommend this trip if you are looking for spectacular scenery. Photos really do not do it justice but the mountains, forests, lakes, glaciers, waterfalls and even the clouds are breathtaking.
The trip starts in the city of Buenos Aires which is a mix of old and new and would suggest adding a day or two to the trip to see more of it as we did.
Our trip was in their autumn, the last trip of the year and the autumn colours in the national parks were beautiful.
We were lucky with the weather and only one of the hikes was cut short because of heavy rain and no view.
The additional trips are well worth taking. We did the tango show in Buenos Aires, then Perito Moreno glacier boat trip and the boat trip in the Beagle Channel in Ushuaia although it was disappointing that we were not told in advance of our trip that the penguins had already migrated. We did still see sea lions and a whale sighting was a bonus but not guaranteed.
Our tour leader, Lara, was superb as were the guides who joined us on each of the hikes.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting the Perito Moreno glacier was awe-inspiring and very poignant as we witnessed a fairly large calving as huge chunks fell in the water.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lara Musumeci was superb. Very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and an obvious love for her country. Nothing was too much trouble for her and her advice and recommendations were spot on.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I'd recommend training in preparation for the trip by walking long days and doing some serious steep, hills with lots of steps. Do your homework as to what time of year you do the trip. Autumn was beautiful but bad weather might restrict hikes, summer could be tougher in the heat. Don't underestimate the wind. It can be extremely windy and you just have to crouch down and ride it out. We found we didn't need as many USD as recommended in the trip notes as you could pay for the extra trip with cards. Cards were accepted everywhere and local currency was only really required for tipping although even that was an option to add to the card in a lot of places. If you are well prepared fitness wise and clothing wise you will have a ball.

Sicily in the Spring

A perfect trip around Sicily with cloudless days and perfect temperatures.

It is impossible to pick a single event. It was that good.

Alessio was a great guide. His knowledge of Sicily is fantastic and he looked after our group of 7 very well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Sicily is even best in Spring. The weather might be mixed, but we were very lucky. April was not too hot and the island is covered with beautiful Spring flowers. After a couple more months it will be very hot and the best of the flora will have passed.

From Trails to Tasting Rooms: The Unforgettable Algarve Experience

Discovering the Algarve in Portugal was fantastic. Experiencing its beauty by exploring scenic hiking trails was the right way to go. Meeting charming local business owners and talented artisans along the way enhanced the trip. Hearing the story behind a family-run olive oil press or discovering how locally grown berries are transformed into liquors gave us insight into the passion people feel for their land and how they live on it. Sampling the local wines and savoring delicious meals at cozy restaurants was a bonus.

Most Inspirational Moment

The third hike was the most difficult for me, and completing this hike felt like an important achievement. There were other hikes where we had more of an elevation increase; this one felt more challenging. The day after this hike we took a break, and it definitely felt like a well-earned break.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Inês was a kind and thoughtful leader. She was well-organized and kept everything running smoothly. She was flexible and adapted how/what she communicated to us based on the types of questions we asked. Ricardo, who acted in a supporting and guiding role to Inês, was also observant of our strengths and weaknesses and supported as a group and as individuals. They worked very well together, and we all benefited from positive leadership.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Hikes were approximately between 5 and 8 miles long, and the pace was about 2 to 2.5 miles per hour. The first two days, we did quite a bit of uphill walking. (Note: I live and walk at sea level, so consider that.) You may or may not need hiking boots, but ankle support is useful. A windbreaker is a good idea. Definitely bring layers, some times of day can be chilly, and the hills are cooler than the coast.

Great boat trip through the Maldives with daily snorkelling sessions looking for reef fish, turtles and manta rays and an occasional visit to a local island

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don’t chase after the mantas, stay by their path and try to lie quietly and horizontally in the water and allow them to come to you. Avoid the month of Ramadan if possible as the staff can tire out with the food and water fasting and exertions in the water.

A Trip to Remember

We felt that this was a unique trip as it managed to combined culture, cycling and hiking with seamless public transport.

Most Inspirational Moment

For me the Kaido cycle was a highlight. The views from the bridges, purchasing oranges from the market as we cycled past. Who knew there were at least twelve varieties. The quirky cycling hotel at our start of our cycle and the beautiful traditional style hotel waiting for us at the end. We also enjoyed the use of public transport as it felt part of the trip and not just a means to an end.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ayako was an excellent guide. Navigating the public transport system was not an easy feat and we never once missed a connection. She was open to our suggestions and encouraged us to sample the local cuisine and the tradition off onsen bathing.
