Stunning walks in Andalucia!

As an Exodus employee, I was lucky enough to experience Walking in Andalucia and absolutely loved it. Every day felt different, with great walks at a good pace and constantly changing scenery, from mountains and olive groves to time in towns and cities. A lot of the walking felt really off the beaten track, which made it even more special. We had a brilliant group, a fantastic guide and wonderful hosts at the traditional cortijo, with amazing views to wake up to each day.

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to choose from! The Caminito del Rey is an absolute must-do experience, but I also loved the optional morning trip to Ronda and our day in Seville. There were so many different highlights throughout the week.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Teresa was fantastic. She had only recently started leading this trip, but you would honestly have thought she'd been doing it for years. She paced the walks perfectly, was incredibly organised and took the time to have great conversations with everyone. She genuinely made the trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Even in October it was hot, so I'd recommend taking two water bottles or a water bladder. Cash is definitely king in Andalucia, particularly smaller denominations for the "bar breaks" (morning coffees!). I'd also recommend good, sturdy walking boots, as some days involve a fair amount of ascent and descent. Also take time to really take in the views on your walks!

Wonderful and fascinating trip around Rajesthan and Nepal

Wow!
We ‘ticked off’ all of the sights you would expect to see, but also got under the skin of both countries a little, to soak up the way of life. India as expected is noisy, busy, colourful, fascinating. Nepal more relaxed.

Most Inspirational Moment

Riding in a tuk tuk through Delhi, a cookery lesson, sunrise hitting the Himalayas and turning the peaks golden.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jatin was brilliant. He was flexible when the group wanted to be a little creative with the itinerary, proactive in checking ahead to smooth our way and avoid problems (I'm still in awe of how efficiently he got us through the India / Nepal border ), knowledgeable, friendly...I could go on!

Advice for Potential Travellers

We went a day early and took the Salaam Baalak tour around Old Delhi - well worth it for an in-depth look around and for the chance to chat to someone who grew up as a street kid there. Clothing for women - requirements are not terribly 'modest'. Knees and shoulders covered in India but in some places even that was flexible; at no point did I need a headscarf or arms covered - other than in Chitwan to avoid bitey insects! Currency - We changed USD to Indian Rupees on arrival, credit cards widely accepted in both countries , moneychangers easy to find, Indian Rupees accepted in shops etc in Nepal on a fixed exchange rate so no need to buy Nepalese rupees. Your money goes a long way! Ear plugs are useful - some of the hotels have a lot of noise outside.

Great tour

There’s a bit of everything for those who enjoy a certain degree of adventure without going crazy… A full day trek. Two half days of biking in the countryside. City tours. Kayaking, We saw most of the country- from Sapa in the north to Ho CHi Mingh City in the south. They should have included a day in the Mekong Delta (I added it on with another company. We used every form of transportation imaginable- bus, train, cable car, rickshaw, bike, car, plane… name it. Some of the bus rides were long and not particularly comfortable. I didn’t mind the overnight train ride and slept for a few hours. The homestay in Sapa wasn’t really a homestay. It was a very primitive bed nd breakfast. A real homestay means living with a family for the night. The caves of Phong Nga were impressive. Ho An is a gem and we had some needed free time there. The bike rides were lovely. The trekking was fun but tiring. I would strongly recommend it.

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to count. I loved the bike rides, kayaking and trekking. Ho An is very special. The food was superlative throughout, as was the group.

Than is a wonderful person and very generous with his time and energy. He is dedicated and talkative. His English could use some work, and sometimes he went on long detailed tangents, but he provided a great deal of needed information- some from his own life - which was greatly appreciated.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take this tour. It is a lovely insight into Vietnam and its natural and man-made wonders. The people, food, culture, lifestyle... you get a little of everything.

Cycling the Loire Valley

This week long trip included 6 days of gentle peddling and about 300km covered. It was called Cycling the Loire Valley but is no longer listed as an offered tour. The biking was perfect, not too demanding and almost entirely off-road. We visited unbelievable castles, palaces, monasteries, and vineyards. The wine tastings were first rate. The food was unbelievable. The hotels were centrally located and lovely. The wine was out of this world. The bikes were just perfect for the terrain. I tend to be very critical of everything- I couldn’t find anything to criticize about this trip. I don’t know why you don’t offer it now

Most Inspirational Moment

Its hard to select. I loved the biking. The wine tastings were special. The picnic lunches were unbelievable. It was a perfect balance between sightseeing and biking.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ruben was a gem. I can't tell you how wonderful he is. He knows the route inside and out and always warned us when we had a modest uphill incline. He knew the history, the backroads and the scenic routes. He was a delight to be with. His picnic lunch selections included some of the best cheeses, pates, and quiche I have ever eaten. He always prepared a delicious salad to go with it all. No room for improvement He is a special person and should be cherished

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take this tour. 50km a day isn't much.... gentle rolling hills and flat routes. Unbelievable countryside and sights to see. The towns were charming. The hotels were just wonderful. I hunted for something to criticize and came up empty-handed.

Excellent tour

We had a great time in Sicily. It is a full, busy itinerary but does include some downtime to explore by yourself.

The tour, inevitably, involves a lot of ancient ruins including archaeological sites, temples, churches. It can be a bit much at times depending on your interest. The quality of accommodation varies from very good to adequate. Breakfasts in Sicily are definitely not the highpoint of the day! However, dinners are very good, especially if you enjoy seafood.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tiziano is an excellent tour leader; he is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and well organised. He gets to know the tour members and encourages comradery amongst the group. He goes above and beyond the service level required. We understand that he leads all the Exodus Grand Tours.

Cycling in Kerala

Great cycling trip in Southern India, that took us to remote areas to experience true India

Most Inspirational Moment

Bandipur National Park, where we saw an elephant and tiger together.

A gem of a country

Fabulous trip- much variety, much unexpected and much learnt. Beautiful cities, gorgeous scenery, friendly people and new food.

Most Inspirational Moment

Many to choose from and don't want to spoil any surprises- swimming in Lake Ohrid, Medieval Art Museum, glorious Berat, sunset in Kruje

Thoughts on Group Leader

Artur was excellent- so knowledgeable and concerned about our preferences. He and Diu, our very smiley driver, were a terrific double act and good company. They were huge ambassadors for their country. Artur was very good at letting us know the best places to eat and the trip was organised extremely well

Highlights of Portugal

This action packed week was an excellent overview of Portugal. The highlight of the trip was our guide, Carla Costa, whose knowledge of the history, places and Portuguese culture brought the whole experience to life.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent! Not only was Carla extremely knowledgeable of the history, geography and culture of the country, but also professional and very well organized. She showed caring for every group member no matter what their needs were. Carla puts her all into this trip and goes above and beyond every day.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to walk - some cities can be hilly!

Fabulous trip

2 weeks of exploring Peru – lots of early starts and long coach days but scenery was fabulous so worth the journey.

Most Inspirational Moment

Matchu Picchu was amazing and worth going back for a second day to see it from a different circuit. I was amazed how beautiful the scenery was.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Gisard was a good leader - he set out from the start his expectations re punctuality and this was adhered to. He is very knowledgable and looked after our health and welfare.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Embrace the early starts and long coach journeys. Take toilet paper for the toilet stops. Do the second day in Matchu Picchu .
