Mallorca’s coast and mountains with wonderful guide

My 4th trip with Exodus, and one that I would highly recommend.

A lovely mix of coastal, inland and mountain walks. Contrasting accommodations: a coastal hotel in Soller and mountain monastery retreat at Lluc. Great local food, lovely group.

Most Inspirational Moment

Every day was great. Beautiful coastal views, followed by mountain peaks, but not too challenging. I took a boat to Sa Calobra and Torrent de Paréis on the free day, which added another dimension to the trip.

Jacob was lovely. He quickly got the measure of the group. He had great local knowledge, bringing the walks to life as he shared information about the history, flora and fauna of the area. His humour and energy were inspiring. Great snacks too!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book it. Take walking poles. Be prepared for more basic accommodation at the monastery.

Great trip

Great small group, bonded quickly and the guide was fantastic. Hotels comfortable and clean and in great locations.

Jacob the guide was very informative both before each days hike and during the hikes providing lots of local information.

Jacob was also more than happy to provide additional guidance for any local hikes outside of the planned daily ones.

Most Enjoyable Trip

I recently completed an 8-day hiking tour in Mallorca, Spain. Each day brought a new adventure. The hikes were 7-10 miles a day. Most of the hikes were over moderate terrain interspersed with rocky paths.The hiking tracks allowed us to view dramatic coastal areas to beautiful mountain views. Our group quickly meshed with each other. The camaraderie made the trip more enjoyable.

A week to get off the grid and explore Mallorca's stunning Tramuntana mountains!

My husband and I took this first departure of 2024 in the first week of April, the weather was cool but sunny and the trip was fantastic. It was our first visit to Mallorca and a great introduction to the northwestern part of the island and this mountain range. There are several small towns, or villages, that you will visit on your hikes, including Soller, Puerto Soller, Deia, Lluc and others. Several of the hikes through olive groves and orange orchards had stunning mountain and sea views and were scented with orange blossoms as we hiked through. We were on a level 3 departure, graded so for the ascents, descents and rocky paths – be prepared for the rocks and bring your hiking boots and poles. The locations of both hotels in Puerto Soller and Lluc are excellent on this trip, so unique, and Lluc in particular, is so tranquil and scenic.

Jacob was fantastic; funny, kind and very capable on the hikes. He was very well organized and we felt very well taken care of. It was a pleasure getting to know him during the week. Since he was a local to the area, he was extremely knowledgeable and provided insight to the culture and customs and context to the geography and history of the area. Thank you for a great week Jacob!

Advice for Potential Travellers

The dry stone path in Mallorca is very rocky, so hiking boots and poles are very recommended. Bring your refillable water bottle, at least a 1.5L, for the hikes, there are plenty of places to refill. Have a plan for your free day, the guide can point you in the right direction, but if you will go to Palma, the cathedral closes at 2pm so you will have to go in the morning. If taking the historic wooden train back to Soller from Palma on this day, you will need to book your tickets ahead.

A great week

Varied walking in mountainous and coastal scenery. Good to have the opportunity for city viewing in Palma and Soller. Some rocky descents which were quite challenging as required a lot of concentration.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Boots with a good ankle support , I think, are essential. A pole helps with the descents which, especially on the 2nd day , were quite long and a bit arduous . They demanded a lot of concentration so watching your feet rather than the view was required. Not many wild flowers to see on this 1st Easter departure date but a good temperature for walking. The wooded sections would provide much needed shade later into the early summer.

Rocky walking

I did the grade 3 version, I found the walks easy in terms of height gain and distance, but a lot of the paths have very uneven rock and stone surfaces and I would recommend proper walking boots to avoid twisted ankles.
The Hotel in Port Soller was plain, clean and comfortable with a good breakfast. Quality of the diners in local restaurants was variable. The Monestry (wonderful buildings) is really an hotel/hostel adequate breakfast but ldisappointing evening meals. Picnics were a piece of fruit and a filled roll, fairly basic.
The walks were pleasingly varied and our guide was excellent.

Beautiful and challenging!

This was a great holiday. The walking were challenging but well planned and Jakob our guide took great care of us brining extra treats along the way. The accommodation was nice, and I liked the contrast between busy Port de Soller and quieter Lluc. A couple of walks ended with the opportunity to swim which was particularly lovely!

He was great. He managed a group of hikers with varying paces well, and brought extra snacks. He was good at looking after our safety in the mountain.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you are booking on the right grade of trip- there had beed some confusion in our group with some travellers thinking they had booked on a moderate week when it was in fact challenging. Everyone managed the walks-with Jacobs help-but good to get what you expect!!
