Introduction for Kilimanjaro and Safari

This is just an introduction from us for the Lemosho trip. My wife, Aileen, and I are recently retired (but youthful) from the world of Scottish education and will both be making the climb. We are lovers of the outdoors and keen (when the weather allows) walkers, skiers, cyclists, via ferratists and, most recently, sea kayakers. We are looking forward to the trip and meeting fellow travellers. We are likely to meet the group somewhat later than others because we will be travelling from Rwanda where we will be visiting colleagues, schools and young people for the week before the Kilimanjaro climb. Any tips from experienced African adventurers would be much appreciated.

Hi Charlie, my husband Tim and I are in our early 50s, and are walkers and runners. We have never done anything as ambitious as Kilimanjaro before, but we have done the 4-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and some mountain walking/scrambling in Spain. This will be our first time in Africa, unless you count a day trip to Tangiers from Spain. We look forward to meeting you and Aileen, and the rest of the group, in a few weeks.

Hi Jenny. Looking forward to meeting you (and the others) in 4 weeks time. Comments from those who have done previous similar trips are very helpful, especially in relation to final couple of days. Any further advice gratefully received.

Hi Charlie, Aileen, Jenny, Tim.
Looking forward to meeting you all on the Lemosho Route in just over a week. I am joining my friend Neil and his son Steven on this trip. Ive done a bit of trekking/mountaineering including going to Everest Base camp back in 1980, but Kilimanjaro will be a few 100 metres higher than this. I'm in my early 60's, an active walker/trekker and still working in my consultancy business that operates in recreation trail development in NZ and have recently been providing trail development strategic advice to the Nepalese. It will be great to share experiences on various places.
