Thai Indochina Grand Tour - 11 Dec 16 - 09 Jan 17

Hey there!

Is anyone here on the Thai Indochina Grand Tour this December? We're trying to figure out what type of luggage we're going to need, all I know at the moment is pack light and pack bug spray! lol.

Can't wait for this trip! yay!

Hi Claire

I've booked onto the trip this weekend!

No idea what to pack, going to start investigating but am thinking walking boots??!

Don't know why it has me as anonymous but never mind!!

Hey! Welcome aboard! I don't know about you but we're extremely excited for this trip, have you been to this part of the world before?
Walking boots are a must from what I've been told. A few other things have been recommended such as a sleeping bag liner, lightweight waterproofs and thermals. We've also been recommended not to take any valuables with us which could make us a target.

Oh, and perhaps take some padded shorts for the bike ride! lol

Hi there , I'm booked on this trip , going to travel light ... as we have internal flights as well ... we had to separate our luggage last year in India as the internal flights only had a minimal weight allowance ... we picked up the rest of our gear from the coach a week later ! Think I may have to find out , great to make contact , Tess x

Hey! We're aiming to pack light too as I know we can get laundry done really cheap. I've printed out the trip notes and packing list and not it just got very real! I'm thinking about taking my own cycle helmet, not sure what others' thoughts are?

Hi, we will be on the trip and looking forward to meeting you all. I have been in touch with Exodus about luggage and they have confirmed that the checked in luggage allowance is at least 20kg for all the international and internal flights including the new one they have had to add between Luang Prabang and Vientiane. They said that hand luggage allowance for that flight is 7kg, they did not specifically say about the other flights but probably reasonable to assume a similar allowance.
As for cycle helmets I notice that one of the reviews on the tour website comments that they thought it was unnecessary to bring a cycle helmet.
We are flying out a day earlier so probably will not see you all until Bangkok.

So, it's getting close now, exciting! I'm pondering what money to take and whether we should take solely USD and exchange as required on the tour, what are everyone's thoughts on this and how much to take?

Hi Clairey , I've just picked up £200 worth of American dollars and £100 worth of Thai Bhat .... exchange rate is pretty poor :-( but using my cards at the countries too ... really looking forward to meeting you all , had to get a visa at the last minute for Thailand as I am going back in after Cambodia ... only took just under a week !! Panic over !!

Hi ... at the terminal 4 Hilton Heathrow ... night before and looking forward to meeting all you travel buddies ... tried to pack light , but didn't manage it !! See you tomorrow "happy "Flighting"xx
