Your words, not ours

This was our first winter trip with Exodus, and our first Premium Adventure. We had a great time. The weather was excellent, and snow conditions better than we had expected. There was relatively little snowshoeing because the snow was compacted and there had been freeze/thaw conditions before we arrived, but Jenny, the leader, had arranged micro-spikes for us to fit over our boots which were brilliant – the feeling of confidence they give even on sheet ice is remarkable. We were able to do all of the treks planned and even managed a more extensive walk on one of the days because we were managing so well on the terrain. The group worked very well – there were a range of abilities but all taken account of. We had to be organised in the morning for a prompt departure at 8.30 but we all managed. The hotel was simply superb -the meals were outstanding and the staff attentive and friendly.

This is an excellent trip around Sri Lanka, combining activities (rafting, hiking, cycling), culture (temple visits, tea and cinnamon farms) and nature (safaris, whale watching), with a generous amount of pool and chill time. The many optional activities allow for doing as much or as little as desired, and there is plenty to keep occupied with when down time is available.

The included activities gave a fascinating insight into daily life, including the Sri Lankan games (I don’t think any of our groups will be winning prizes in those games for a while!). The locals were all so friendly and hospitable, and the hotels exceeded my expectations throughout.

Non stop trip with so many memories made. From villages and local markets to the chaos of the cities. Cycling tiring but great support and well balanced days to make it manageable.

If you are reading this review because you are thinking of going on this Exodus trip, I have to say I’m quite jealous of you! If you decide to go you have an amazing holiday ahead of you. This is an opportunity to see some of the best this beautiful country has to offer in a relatively short period of time. Yes, it was exhausting because we packed so much in, but what a rollercoaster of fun and experience. And most days there was time to relax and recharge in the vehicle.

Very varied experiences from city life, to tea plantations, to a Homestay and Houseboat overnight trips. Good optional excursions which majority took. Visits to Hindu temples with explanations of the culture and way of life, as well as other churches. Don’t hesitate book it. It was brilliant.

Fantastic tour, and our guide was excellent (Jon – spelling?). Only thing is that it would have been preferable to have more weather specific guidance regarding gear that would be helpful – such as crampons with ice spike etc.
