Bike Ride in Bali

Eat, Pray, Love – The Edits Edition

Elizabeth Gilbert’s 2006 bestseller, Eat, Pray, Love charted her quest for happiness as she travelled through Italy, India and Bali. And if you’re ready for your very own search for everything in 2021, we’ve got it all mapped out for you, Edits-style.

Eat in Italy

Neapolitan Pizza

First things first: food. Gorge on the freshest, most delicious cuisine on an Italian discovery – and perhaps, like Elizabeth Gilbert, you’ll gain 25 pounds too (hey, no judgement here). Our Street Food & Sunshine in Sicily trip puts food firmly in the spotlight. Feast on rascatura croquette and gelato in Palermo and indulge your sweet tooth on pastries and granita in Taormina. And at the foot of Mount Etna, you’ll visit a cellar to sample some of Italy’s sublime wine, paired with local dishes.

If, like us, you can’t get enough of the indulgence of Italy, head north to the Amalfi Coast for jaw-dropping scenery, copious limoncello and pizza, pizza and more pizza. There’s the chance to work off some of the extra calories when you kayak through sea caves, snorkel off the coast of magical Capri, and hike the famous Path of the Gods to Positano.

Pray in India

Taj Mahal at Sunrise

With a full belly, next up is India. This is where Elizabeth spent time scrubbing temple floors. And with all due kudos to Liz, we think enlightenment can be found in other ways. So while you too will visit a Sikh temple in Delhi on our Bazaars & Backwaters in India trip, we’ve packed the itinerary with much more besides.

We’ve factored in plenty of time with the locals - you’ll have your eyes opened on a tour of Delhi guided by an ex-street child, meet local families and artisans at a Dhula village, and help farmers milk cows in rural India. There are moments of peace and solitude as you practice yoga at sunrise in front of the Taj Mahal, try some healing Ayurveda in Kerala, and take a bamboo raft ride through Periyar National Park. This Indian immersion finishes with a stop at Vypeen Island, to kick back and listen to the waves.

Love in Bali

Rice Terraces in Bali

In Bali, Elizabeth’s final stop, a medicine man taught her the meaning of life and love. While we can’t guarantee your very own Ketut Liyer on our Sunrises & Summits in Bali trip, amid explorations of ancient temples and daybreak yoga, you’ll receive a blessing in full Balinese attire. Between those moments of reflection and calm, there are hikes and cycles through rice terraces and a volcano climb at dawn that’s toasted with a champagne breakfast at the summit.

It seems only fitting to celebrate a year of epic travel in style. So, our Bali trip offers plenty of opportunity to party. You’ll sway to music at the famous Jungle Fish pool bar, head to the island paradise of Nusa Lembongan for a beach BBQ and try your hand at mixing cocktails at a swanky club. Surely the best way to end 2021 with a bang.
