Vietnam Adventure - 13 to 27 November!

Hi - is there anyone out there who has booked on this trip?  Just wanting to make contact ... I've just sent off my passport to obtain my visa and hope it's back next week for a short break to France in the meantime.  These are the things you have to factor in!  Also, can anyone who has 'done' Vietnam give me any tips for what to take in the way of clothes or avoid, etc?

Thanks! Julia

Hi there

we did this trip in June and had a fantastic tiime.

Don't take too many clothes as there are plenty of oportunities to buy more. There is also two places to do laundry. Make sure you take malaria tablets, take long trousers and long sleeved shirts for the mekong delta, head / shoulder scalf for some temples although you can buy these easily.

The guides arrange a trip kitty which is really handy and you will need about £37 for this. Food and drink is cheap i spent £700 which incudes the kitty and 2 optional trips but others spent less.

Take good DEET mosquito spray....mosquitos aren't too much of an issue except the mekong delta

If you take any dollars you have time to exchange to dong at the airport..the same for using a visa card you can do this at the airport. Remember the charges though but its not that expensive. Most machines will allow you to draw out 2,000,000 a day and there are cash machines everywhere

have a good time

Just to thank John and Susie for their useful tips for this Vietnam trip, which grows ever closer! It's hard to imagine that I'll be in exotic climes just as people here are getting seriously sucked into the pre-christmas hysteria!  If anyone out there reads this and will be a fellow traveller please do get in touch.

Best wishes,

Julia Bowman
