Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Start Kas.

There are no activities planned today so you are free to arrive in Kas at any time.

    Standard Hotel

  • Day 2

Explore dramatic Saklikent Canyon with optional tubing; afternoon walk and relaxation on Patara beach.

Saklikent Canyon is one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in the Taurus Mountains. Over the millennia, the rapid flowing and extremely cold Esen River has cut a deep canyon through the ancient rocks. Using a walkway, we explore the mouth of the canyon (entrance to Saklikent Canyon is payable locally; see extra expenses) and, depending on seasonality, can progress further in by getting our feet wet! Waterproof sandals may come in handy here (or plastic shoes can be rented locally at nominal cost). There is also the opportunity to go tubing depending on the season. Tubing is a fun activity in which you sit in a circular rubber tube with a paddle and head off down river.

After a relaxing lunch near the mouth of the canyon, we take a short transfer to the start of our walk. The route offers a combination of great views and Roman ruins before arriving at Patara beach (entrance to Patara National Park is payable locally; see extra expenses) one of the most beautiful in Turkey, where we can relax and swim in the turquoise sea.

    Standard Hotel

    Meals included: Breakfast
  • Day 3

SCUBA diving day; beginners get a 'Try Dive' whilst certified divers have 2 guided dives.

Today we have the chance to try scuba diving. We use a highly recommended PADI registered dive school for this activity. They have top-quality European equipment and have a purpose-built dive boat. For beginners, we offer a 'Try Dive' course, which includes a one-on-one dive with an instructor or Dive Master. Qualified divers can take a couple of boat dives. Kas boasts some of the best diving sites in the whole of the Mediterranean and it is possible to see turtles and Triggerfish if you're lucky!

The group will usually be split in two, depending on the size of the group, with one half diving in the morning and the other in the afternoon. All dives, including the "Try Dives" are from the dive boat. During your free time, there are opportunities to soak up the sun. Those who do not wish to scuba dive may take the excursion and snorkel instead.

You must be in good health and will be asked to sign a medical disclaimer and show a doctor's certificate for any medical conditions. Qualified divers will be required to show proof of qualification.

    Standard Hotel

    Meals included: Breakfast
  • Day 4

Full day canyoning; abseil, swim, climb and jump into pools of cool water in one of the various canyons around Kas.

The mountains behind Kas are riddled with deep canyons. We normally visit the Kibris Canyon, which offers some of the most impressive natural phenomena in the Taurus Mountains; a spectacular gorge, where springs and waterfalls cascade into the rapidly flowing cold river. It is ideal for canyoning - swimming, abseiling and leaping into pools of mountain water. You will be provided with a wetsuit, harness and a helmet. You must be able to swim, and light summer walking shoes (or old trainers) are essential. The day is long and strenuous at times - please make sure you are confident of your physical fitness and physique, have a head for heights, and to see if you have the courage to jump a few metres into pools of water.

Please note: At no point is jumping obligatory; there is always the option to climb, abseil or walk down at these points.

    Standard Hotel

    Meals included: Breakfast Lunch
  • Day 5

Free day in Kas: optional paragliding, SCUBA diving or relaxation.

Today has been left free to do as little or as much as you like. Options include more SCUBA diving, a local hike or walk, a Turkish bath or just a stroll around Kas. For the more adventurous and adrenaline-seeking there is the opportunity to take a paragliding flight. The start point is 600 metres above sea level and the flight takes us out over Kas and the surrounding islands. (See Optional Excursions section for prices)

    Standard Hotel

    Meals included: Breakfast
  • Day 6

Full day sea kayaking; find out how the Turquoise Coast earnt its name.

Today we spend a full day sea kayaking in the sheltered bay near Kekova Island. The day starts early in the morning; we will depart at 7:30 for a 50 min (approximately) transfer to Ucagiz Village. After preparations and technical briefing, we will paddle towards the island and the site of the famous sunken city. Although it is no Atlantis, you can clearly make out the harbour walls disappearing into the sea and see the layout of rooms and houses below the water. Kayaking is an excellent low impact way of exploring the site. Later we paddle to the village of Simena (Castle Village) to have our lunch. This spectacular spot is located on a peninsula and is inaccessible by road. The village is overlooked by a hilltop Ottoman castle with excellent views of the whole bay. To participate you must be able to swim and have the physique necessary to fit in the kayak.

    Standard Hotel

    Meals included: Breakfast Lunch
  • Day 7

Biking day; transfer into the hills and explore the forests and coastal roads with some great descents; night out in Kas.

We will transfer approximately 1.5 hours to the start point in Sütlegen which is at 1200m. From here we will get on the bikes and head up into a cedar forest, following the trails traversing the wooded valleys and the Kibris Gorge on the left, with some fast descents and a few challenging climbs to the highest point 1450m Akörü. After a delicious home-made village house lunch we head towards the sea, either through Sinekci or Izne village, depending on the season. The day ends with long fast descents on rough tracks, and ultimately on to mountain roads, all the way back to our hotel in Kas. This activity is fully supported by our driver and minibus in addition to our guides, meaning it's possible to opt out of any part of the ride.

Ride approx 50km. Min. height to fit bikes: 1.52m

    Standard Hotel

    Meals included: Breakfast Lunch
  • Day 8

    End Kas.

Our adventure ends after breakfast today. Those on the group flights will be transferred back to Dalaman for the flight to London.

    Meals included: Breakfast

Essential Info

Visas

Turkey

Holders of UK, Austrian, Irish, Portuguese, Spanish and US passports require visas. Visa's must be obtained in advance, passengers need to obtain an e-visa prior to their arrival. This can be done online at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ for approximately US$20. The visa is valid for a stay of up to three months (dependent on passport holder's nationality). For a longer stay a visa from a Turkish Embassy is required.

Vaccinations

Turkey

There are no mandatory vaccination requirements.

Eating and Drinking

All breakfasts and 3 picnic lunches are included.
Food in Turkey is generally very good and varied, making use of fresh local ingredients. Breakfasts normally include boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, honey or jam and yoghurt, olives and bread. Picnic lunches are provided on specified days.
For dinners, there are plenty of excellent lokantas (cafes) and restaurants in Kaş for you to choose from. Some specialise in locally caught fish dishes, others in various lamb dishes. There are also plenty of cafes and snack bars where 'pide' (Turkish pizza) is served. Most restaurants also offer selections of meze (mixed starters). The Turks have a sweet tooth, so expect plenty of pastries covered in honey, as well as cakes and ice creams. Your group leader will normally assist in organising group meals. Vegetarians are well catered for.

Weather

If travelling in July and August you must be prepared for high temperatures up to 38 deg C and it is not always possible to avoid the heat of the midday sun. Rain is unlikely in the summer months although the occasional storm can't be ruled out. Protracted spells of bad weather are unlikely at any time of the year.

Kas

Is this trip for you?

Activity Level: 3 (Moderate)
This trip gives you the chance to go sea-kayaking, canyoning, and diving in addition to the Exodus staples of mountain biking and walking. There is also the option to try paragliding. A perfect trip for those who enjoy plenty of adrenaline along with sun!
As with all our multi-activity trips, no experience of the activities is required for this holiday and those that have experience will not be bored, as there are a wide range of levels and grades to suit all. However, to enjoy this trip to the full, a fair level of fitness, skills and physique are required.
The itinerary is very active and long periods of time are spent outdoors or in water. As so many of the activities are water-based, we do not recommend that non-swimmers book this trip. There is a certain amount of rough and tumble and a few minor cuts and bruises cannot be ruled out.
Please note that the Tour Leader reserves the right to refuse participation of any client on any activities on safety grounds or if they feel that their participation will compromise the safety and enjoyment for the rest of the group.
The order of activities may be changed to suit local weather conditions.
Our local partner may ask you to sign an 'acknowledgement of risk' form before undertaking some of the more adventurous activities included as part of the tour. In signing this you will not be limiting your legal rights, as these are governed by our booking conditions and your contract remains with Exodus.

    Action packed!

This was my first Exodus trip, i was not disappointed. We had a busy week filled with fun activities and hosted by a fantastic local guide who made sure everyone was included and felt happy with all of the activities from abseiling to kayaking to a mud bath. Our group was a varied mix but we all had the same aim, to have an active week with lots of laughter and to make some good friends, even our day off was filled with invigorating activities which were sorted out with ease by our guide who was a definite asset to Exodus.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Pushing boundaries to take a leap into a canyon pool from 10m, and making the leap from 1800m while paragliding, you really can do anything you want to with Exodus.

What did you think of your group leader?

Our group leader Torgut, was Fantastic, he was helpful and encouraging and nothing was too much trouble for him. He engaged with all of the group and made sure that everyone was enjoying their time in Turkey . We could not have had a better guide.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

If you want an active trip with something different each day this trip is for you.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The only down side was the two flights to get there despite there being direct flights available into Dalaman from various airports.

    Fantastic!!

This was my first trip with Exodus and it has been a great choice , non stop activities all week, expect to be kept busy with exciting things to do all week.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

having your boundaries smashed while canyoning and doing new things which will be remebered for a long time to come.

What did you think of your group leader?

our trip was led by a great local guide called Torgut, who seemed to know everyone in the town of Kas and was able to arrange restaurants and additional activities at a momens notice for a group of 14 despite breaking his phone halfway through the week. He was a definite bonus, and made sure that we all came home with some great memories.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

if you are looking for a very active week with very little down time don't hesitate , just book it.

    Lovely and great guide!

The Lycian way - The english way - the turkish way - a perfect planned and well organised activity by Exodus. Super sportive and still the taste of the turkish way of relaxing. For us it was perfect having a week without thinking about anything except to choose the right shorts in the morning. Definitely come back again!!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Every single activity was a highlight in this tour. We really enjoyed the last day of the tour, where we had a boattrip including a BBQ at the end of the day. Totally unexpected, totally a perfect end!

What did you think of your group leader?

Turgut, an amazing guy with a lot of positive energy and vibe! Enjoyed every single moment with him. He planned extras without asking it twice, he planned everything so well, he performed great during the tour, he smiled all the time, as this is for us a really important characteristic :-) After the tour, we came back to Kas and even he invited us to his house, enjoying good talks and drinks with him. He still helped us finding the perfect activities for the rest of our free week we had. Thank you so much for letting us the best insight in your hometown!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Enjoy more days for yourself, you will find so many activities around that wonderful place. It is worth to spend minimum two weeks in this wonderful village.

What did you think of your group leader?

    Non stop action!!

Go! go! go! from the moment we landed to the moment we left. The activities were well-organised and well-timed. Nothing was ever a problem. Kas is a gorgeous town on the coast and our hotel (Hotel Phellos) had a lovely pool. Great company! Great guide! Fantastic food!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The most inspirational....hard to say...as different highlights were brought to the table everyday!! Every activity was safe including the canyoning where I was completely out of my comfort zone....there is a best kept secret involved.....shhhhhh!!!!! And that was AMAZING!!! Never ever in my life would I ever have thought I could do it.....Diving kayaking....tubing....trekking...swimming in the sea....the fluffy hamman...laughing...canyoning.....biking....the company.....All ACE!!!

What did you think of your group leader?

Turgut was AMAZING! Always calm...always kind....He could arrange everything with passion, enthusiasm and a smile on his face! We had so many amazing extras which weren't on the official itinerary because he went above and beyond! For our final evening meal, he organised a gulet for a cruise and an evening bar b que cooked on board. I'm not sure the rest day was a rest day for him as he arranged phone calls for some of the group to do yoga and have massages and hammans...others took the ferry to the local Greek island...whilst 4 others chartered a diving boat and we had lunch delivered by speed boat....a true James Bond experience!!! Turgut made it happen and deserves a holiday medal!!!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

You don't need to take a wetsuit. Important items for me were: Canyoning boots (I bought the brand high 5 which were just the job!) Flip flops Towel Biking gloves Insect repellent for the evening 3 swimming costumes

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Turgut took photos of the trip and put them onto a CD which was great as there was no way you could carry a camera during some of the activities. This was a really nice added extra extra extra bonus!!

The most fun I've had in ages!

This was my first booking with Exodus - and far exceeded my expectations. I can honestly say I spent most of the week laughing. A great bunch of like-minded people, and the activities were exceptional. There was a good mix of adventure with enough downtime to relax or go out and do your own exploring. Our guide (Barbaros) was excellent, extremely knowledgeable about both the area and history as well as the activities. He entertained us all with his stories whilst gently encouraging some of the less confident to join in with all the activities. The weather in May was perfect - hot and sunny enough to feel like you are on holiday but not so hot that the sportier activities felt like a chore.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The canyoning day had to be the highlight - jumping into pools of water, abseiling down a waterfall and just generally laughing our way through the day.

What did you think of your group leader?

Barbarous - I honestly can't praise him enough. Excellent sense of humour, he could spin stories for hours and coped with the various demands of the group admirably whilst taking everything in his stride.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Book it! You wont be disappointed.

AWESOME - Well rounded trip - NOT TO BE MISSED

I had no idea what I was missing all these years I didn't visit Turkey. And Kas is a beautiful Mediterranean town, full of life, party, relaxation, delicious food and very friendly welcoming people. The programme is brilliant, full of fun activities, the Kayaking was really fun, the Canoyoning was the highlight of the trip, it was as fun as it was challenging. Cycling was exhilarating and not very tough, though the steep downhills were a bit scary and fast at times but Barbaros was there to give us a very helpful briefing which I found helped a lot. Diving was also lovely and we spent the day on the boat sunning ourselves. The combination between the activities and the downtime was just perfect.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The Canoyoning day was the most fun I'd had in years. Cycling was super fun and the paragliding which is not to be missed.

What did you think of your group leader?

Barbaros was the whole package, he was super funny, super knowledgeable about the history of the region and about all the activities and what needed to be done. He looked after every one of us with great care and attention and entertained us endlessly. We all loved him. The group was a mix of capabilities and fitness and Barbaros managed to deal with that with great professionalism, allowing us all to have some amazing fun and returned us all safely.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

A good level of fitness is good for the Canoyoning and the cycling, everything else is easy and relax. Essentials I found I needed were: -Trainers for the Canyon and not ankle-support hiking boots - no need to take these with you, the sole of the shoes have to be flexible enough to allow a good grip on the rocks and for you to feel your way about in the water. - Swim suits - multiple as you get wet a lot. - A fast drying towel could be useful, though most people used the hotel ones, so something else you don't need to worry about packing. - Flip flops and water shoes, although I did ok without the water shoes. - For the cycling - you can wear anything flexible with some protection. Helmets are provided.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Please organise more trips to Turkey :)

    Fantastic Lycian Trip

They always say that the sign of a good holiday is being sad about leaving and wanting to book another one and that's exactly how I've felt after coming back from the Lycian adventure. Superb range of activities, set at the right level for most people. A really nice bunch of fellow travellers, delicious food, average weather (36 degrees most days!) and time to chill out in the evenings too. Highly recommended 👍🏽

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

It's difficult to pick one moment as we packed a lot into the week. My personal three favourites were - seeing a five foot turtle during the scuba dive, the 10k mountain bike decent and paragliding. Some of the more sedate activities were brilliant too. We fitted in a trip to the Turkish baths which was super relaxing and had a great night out listening to a live blues band.

What did you think of your group leader?

Maho was a lovely guy. I think he went above and beyond what was expected of a tour leader including showing us the sights of Kas on an evening. I never once felt uncomfortable or at risk doing any of the activities and he was always cheerful and encouraging.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

It's a very busy week but I find that having great activities to do gives the group something to laugh about on an evening and makes the beers taste even better. Also personally I found being this active on this holiday helped me unwind much more from work than any beach holiday would. I packed really light - just a large rucksack for the week. This was great for the travelling but looking back I probably needed more than 5 t shirts!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I went as a solo traveller and was fairly nervous about going all that way and meeting a bunch of strangers. I shouldn't have worried as the travelling was straight forward and the people I met were without exception welcoming and easy going. Very enjoyable!

    Incredible Lycian Activity Week

This trip has most definitely been the most memorable weeks of my life with stunning scenery, fun activities and hideouts to chill.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Thats's a tough question, there are so many to choose from - Kayaking over the calm sea to Kekova - no wonder the area is called the turquoise coast, or sliding and jumping into pools through the Salikent. Floating over and flying with the hawk whilst paragliding over Kas =D

What did you think of your group leader?

Ali was great fun and very hospitable, will always remember many laughs we had. He was very motivating and was always keen to meet the needs of the group.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Don't miss going here! It's absolutely amazing, and there are no troubles at all. The lack of tourists at this time makes it more of a gem =)

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

I think when we were mountain biking was the best part of the trip. just looking at the view from the mountain top made me realise how great an experience i was participating in. its a moment ill never forget.

What did you think of your group leader?

The group leader that we had was outstanding. He was excellent in bringing the hole group together on the first day of the holiday. most of us were solo travellers apart from one couple, but by the end of day one we had all bonded well. An overview of flight options

Exodus is committed to making joining our tours as easy as possible, wherever you live. We generally only block book seats from London, but this certainly does not mean that you need to fly from there. Depending on the route and airlines available, there will usually be various options available for those who want to fly from their local airport.

This page aims to provide a useful overview of the options available to our clients. However, the best flight arrangements should be tailored to your personal requirements, so please contact our Sales team for expert advice.

What kind of options do I have ?

1. We can book for you: Flights from anywhere in the world - not via London

Depending on the route, this may be direct or via an overseas hub like Amsterdam, the Middle East or elsewhere. On short haul routes there may be direct flights with low cost airlines, charter flights or scheduled airlines. Exodus can book most, but not all, of these for you. The most appropriate airline may be different to that which we use for the group flight from London, but many people now travel on different airlines and meet up with their fellow passengers at the destination.

Pros Cons
  • May be the most direct route
  • Often the extra fare compared to the London flight is minimal.
  • As you will be in the hands a single airline for your entire journey, the airline will be responsible for your bags and your connections.
  • You may not be able to join the group transfers. However, we can usually arrange private transfers, or book your flights to try and coincide with the group transfers. See notes on transfer arrangements below.

2. We can book for you: Connecting flights from your local airport to London

Exodus can book connecting flights to London so you can join the group flight there. Connecting times will be followed according to airline advice, or as requested by clients. There are two types of fares we can use for this option: a 'through-fare' or a 'published fare'.

a) A 'through-fare' is where you will be in the main airline's care throughout. You change planes, but your bags are checked all the way through to your final destination.

b) A 'published fare' ticket is completely seperate from your onward ticket from London. It is usually cheaper than a through-fare but will need to be paid for and issued as soon as it is booked. This can be a problem if your tour has not yet reached minimum numbers. On 'published fares' neither airline is aware that you have connecting flights, so Exodus is responsible for timing your connection, not the airlines involved. The tickets are also usually non changeable and non refundable.

Pros Cons
  • Depending on the fare type, Exodus or the airline is responsible for flight connections.
  • Through fare tickets can be expensive.
  • On a published fare, tickets must be issued immediately; tickets on published fares can be very difficult to change if onward flight times change; bags are not checked though to your final destination.
  • Published fares are non-refundable.

3. Booking some or all of the flights yourself

You can also book connecting air travel yourself, either to London, or all the way to the start point. There may be certain airlines or routes we don't have access to, so this is always an option. However, if you make your own travel arrangements you become liable for any delays, cancellations or missed connections, and Exodus is not required to offer refunds if you have trouble reaching the start of your trip.

Pros Cons
  • You might find cheaper fares, or routes not available to Exodus.
  • You are responsible for any delays or missed connections, and the cost of the tour is not protected should you miss your flight be cancelled.

 Notes on transfer arrangements

Sometimes it is possible to travel on a different airline to the group flight from London. Where this is the case, we need to think about ensuring you meet up with the group with minimum extra cost and hassle.

  • On certain trips, it is easy to arrive on a different flight and still meet the group at the hotel with time in hand. We can usually arrange private transfers (at extra cost) or offer advice on taking a taxi to the start hotel.
  • On other trips (especially in Europe), the transfer meets the group flight and then travels some distance to the first night's accommodation. Where this is the case, our Sales team will try to arrange flights that arrive before (and depart after) the group. However, we do have to make it clear in your final documentation that if your flights are delayed, the transfer cannot wait for you. While Exodus or our local operators will do what we can to help you reach the start point of the tour, any additional costs must be paid by the client.
