Superb Atlas Descent

If you enjoy cycling in any form, love being outdoors in a superb remote country then you will love this trip.
Seamless organisation with an extremely professional guide (Liz-you made it!!) resulted in one of the best holidays we have had.
How hard is it?? Don’t underestimate the distances, but if you are a regular fit cyclist its straightforward, but a 7km ascent on single track is tough in anyone’s book.
As one review which sold it to me said ‘just do it’, you will not be disappointed.

Most Inspirational Moment

travelling for hours with no signs of humans!!!

Liz was exemplary in her firm professionalism, a credit to Exodus, and handled all the situations with panache. 10 punctures in 10km did not ruffle her composure! Extremely fit and enthusiastic about cycling earned ever bodies respect.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The fitter you are the more you will enjoy these trips but the 'wagon of shame' is there if you want a lift!! Use the Exodus bikes, I was tempted to take my own, but if/when a mechanical happens it maybe tough to fix. The 29 ers were great and Liz even had a spare bike for the worse scenario. You need to carry nothing but 1 inner tube and a bottle as the support vehicles are there, so you can leave all your spare clothing/kit in them.

Walking the French Riviera

Wonderful holiday in stunning scenery. Menton is an ideal place for a base – its so easy to visit other places on the Cote D Azur from here. There is a great train and bus service and within an hour you can be in Monaco, Nice or even Italy. The walks are great with some wonderful views of the hills and coastline.

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably the walk down to the charming village of Eze.

Stephanie was great - nothing was too much trouble. She was informative and had a wonderful sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just go and enjoy!

Brilliant Botswana

We had an amazing trip, Botswana is stunning with friendly people amazing wildlife. wild camping in the Okavango Delta and walking in the bush amongst the wildlife are experiences that I will never forget.

I would have rated the trip as excellent if it were not for the itinerary change mentioned below and the very cramped vehicle.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing two packs of wild dogs was amazing and spotting lions lazing at the side of a main road was very special. Listening to the sounds of the night and trying to pick out the different animal calls was spectacular.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sam our group leader was very god well organised and was always there when you need him, Mello,s cooking was outstanding . Sten our Botswana guide tried his best but the lectures on geology and were not the best, it was difficult for him has Moremi was completely devoid of any wild life so he was trying to keep us interested.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The drives are long and uncomfortable, pack light for the truck and take lip balm and a scarf. We went in October it was very hot you wil not need a sleeping bag just a liner wil do. Go with an open mind and you will love it the people are friendly and the scenery is stunning only surpassed by the amazing wild life in Chobi and savuti. The Victoria falls were fantastic you will be ther for two night so take the opportunity to explore and try local fare, I recommend Mopani worms at the Boma, check it out it's amazing .

Cycle Tuscany and Chianti

A spectacular cycling trip with a ‘wow’ at every turn and summit. It blends fantastic scenery with exactly the right amount of culture which a cycling holiday in this region rightly deserves. The food and wine are likewise to the exquisite standard you would expect;so don’t go in the hope of loosing weight.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling in to all of the beautiful Tuscan towns in which we stayed were inspirational. However, our triumphal entry to our very own room with a view, Florence was extra special.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alex and Simon were both extremely encouraging, professional and knowledgeable. Being relatively new to cycling I found their advice and guidance plus technical tips extremely useful.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Buy yourself a little handle bar bag (available on line) they are big enough for everything you need with you throughout the day and for any extras the van is never too far away. If you want to treat yourself to a commemorative cycling jersey go to the little sports shop on the square in San Gimignano they're expensive in all the towns but slightly cheaper there and well worth investing in as a great memento of the trip.

Sierra nevada and Grenada

A lovely week of walking in Las Alpujarras through pretty white villages, woodland trails, hillsides covered with wild lavender and thyme. As it was in early October there was also the added bonus of picking walnuts, almonds and ripe figs from the trees. The group was lovely and each day ended with a well earned beer in a local bar. We were made to feel very welcome in the hotel – the food was always excellent and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. And last but not least Sami the dog made an excellent member of the walking group.

Most Inspirational Moment

I have wanted to visit the Alhambra for many years so this was an excellent end to the week. Although it is impossible to see everything in one day so I now need to go back to see the rest...

Thoughts on Group Leader

George was excellent. He was organised in a laid back way - everything happened as and when it should. He was very good at managing the different walking abilities and speeds within the group without any fuss. He was very knowledgeable about the local area and culture and shared just enough stories and information.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you book your Alhambra tickets on line before travelling. The walk descriptions in the brochure were pretty accurate so the level is what I was expecting - there is always the worry that it is going to be too easy or too hard.

Bill McOwan

An excellent trip even though we could not complete the circuit because of the disaster on the Thorong La pass. My and I am sure the rest of the groups thoughts are with the families and friends of those who died or were injured in the storm.

Most Inspirational Moment

The views of the mountains at Manang. Our Nepalise guides and porters who were always very helpful and always had a ready smile.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Kumar is an excellent leader and a credit to Exodus. He should be commended for a job well done.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure your kit is in good condition as you never know what weather you will get in the mountains - Monsoon rain to snow blizzards. Get your visa before you travel as the process at Kathmandu can take a very long time.

Atlas Mountains Trek

An amazing and well organised trip made even more enjoyable by a knowledgeable and personable guide. Breath-taking views surround you on your journey through the mountains and up to the highest peak of Toubkal.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking through the Berber villages and seeing how people live within the mountains.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was inspirational; he was knowledgeable and took great care to make sure each one of us was enjoying our trek. He was incredibly sensitive to everyone’s ability levels and took great care to make sure we stuck together as a group. He truly made the experience even more amazing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The trek can be pretty tricky in places, single file walking along a rocky and haphazard pass. Walking poles also a must on the summit!

Hidden Treasurers of Jordan

I can sum up the Hidden Treasurers of Jordan trip in one word “fabulous”. I normally go for the more involved type of holiday involving lots of climbing etc but thought I would give a more relaxed trip a go. I’m so glad I did. Jordan a country which seems to be going through a tourism crisis at the moment due to its neighbours Iraq, Syria, Israel, Gaza and Saudi should be classed as a “must visit” and due to the lack of tourists its a great time to go. The country is stunning, the people warm and friendly and the country is above all safe! The cuisine is a mixture of Arab, and European and very tasty. Its also the only Arabian county I’ve visited where wine, beer and spirits is freely available! What resonates the most is the sense of history that permeates Jordan from prehistoric to Roman, Byzantine, Crusades, First World War to the modern issues. Its a snapshot of world history wrapped up in a beautiful small country! The trip itself managed to avoid being a one trick pony with plenty of trips to the desert and a boat ride in Aqaba. The 12 day trip allowed me to see so much of this but also left me hungry for more! I was also very lucky that the rest of the group are fab people, it was a great trip with a great group. The only downside was leaving Jordan. How soon can I go back?!

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting Petra. In the media, the impression I got before visiting Petra is the Treasury building and not much else. How wrong could I be! We spent two days at Petra and I could have spent much more. The area is vast with temples, churches, mosaics who whole 9 yards. Its thought provoking to consider that so much of this stunning valley is still under the sand! There is also plenty of opportunity to eat and drink at Petra in particular the pomegranate and orange juice drink is to die for!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alah was great. A fount of all knowledge and very personable. In particular Alah arranged an excellent boat ride at Aqaba which allowed us to see parts of Jordan from a different perspective and tailored the trip to ensure we had time to visit the Jordan Museum to have a gander at the Dead See Scrolls. Thanks Alah!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just go! Pack your bags and get to the airport! Jordan is amazing! Actually, try not spending as much as me on shopping, but that's another story!

Cuban Highlights - Cycling

I had an excellent time on this trip. The cycling through rural areas was great and the knowledge, help and organisation by our guide, Yazel, exceptional.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing how local Cubans live with their "daily struggle".

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic. Yazel was approachable, funny and well liked by our group. He did his best to ensure that we had an excellent time. His dancing was great as well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I think the trip notes say it all.

Walking on three Greek Islands

The holiday includes one night in Athens, one night on Paros, two on Santorini and three nights on Naxos. The walks are relaxed and although rugged in places the description of leisurely is appropriate. The ferry trips between the Islands could be a down side of the trip, the first one seemed quite long. However, the group learnt the best area for sitting, up at the top of the ferry, under cover but with plenty of air and the best views and the trips became enjoyable as we were well prepared and appreciated time to chat with the group. The trip was extremely well organised and we had many wonderful experiences packed into one week.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational moments were looking at the many stunning views, the walk on Santorini was particularly beautiful once our walk took us away from the crowds in the town. The view was constant all day and the picture postcard buildings are memorable.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cecile was outstanding, she took great care to ensure the holiday was an enjoyable experience at all times. She was well organised, very sensitive and kind and good company.
