An excellently devised and run holiday week. Our guide was special and all the logistics were in place. Stromboli by night was awe-inspiring, and Etna in its colossal size as well.
Single file walking to and hearing, then seeing Stromboli's explosions.

Inspiring, energising, entertaining, funny, thought provoking……
Cambodia, the warmth, friendliness and resilience of the people I met in Cambodia utterly inspired me.
Wonderful! Our guide who followed us throughout the whole trip was really super. She thought of every little detail and dealt so well with all the quirks and demands of our group as we adjusted to our new surrounding. She was particularly good at introducing us to the local dishes and explaining the customs of each area as we travelled through.
Remember to put mosquito repellent on your bottom too.....for those all important trips to the outside loos.
A one week holiday staying at one well run boutique hotel. The location was quiet and beautiful. An idyllic setting for some fun and sometimes vigorous hikes over the hills.
I really adored the walking through the meadows of wild flowers. I was just lucky I chose to go beginning of June. Meadows in full flower and the weather was glorious.
Udo Krause our tour leader was a large lump of a hiker with a mix of wildlife photographer. He lead the goup well and he was totally qualified and experienced to explain all flora & fauna.
A lunchbox has been mentioned by other reviews. Its good to carry your diy sandwiches. During our time in June the sun was baking, do not under estimate dehydration ad sun burn.
Wonderful scenery. Great wildlife. Good food. Great accommodation. Very knowledgable leader and excellent driver.
Probably staying in the jungle lodge, surrounded by monkeys in the day, going out on the night walk and at night listening to the sounds of the jungle in our candle lit room.
Fabian is an excellent organiser, is very knowledgable about all sorts of things and kept us entertained with his stories. I appreciated his concern for our welfare and safety which was one thing that worried me slightly before we went but we had no problems at all whilst we were there.
Take a woolly hat, gloves and maybe a scarf. It was very cold walking at high altitude (which we did twice) for a couple of hours each time. If that was on the list of equipment I missed it. Don't rely on the temperature charts for Quito or Guayaquil and think that the whole country is the like either of these places. It can be quite chilly at 4800 metres on Chimborazo. We managed to buy hats and gloves locally but you might want to take your own.
This is an excellent trip for the moderate walker. It combines fantastic scenery in which to hike, a well informed, diligent and capable tour leader, excellent rural village accommodation with superb food and incredible local hospitality. The Picos de Europa is a beautiful region of Spain and rivals the better known ranges in Europe for scenery and grandeur. It is well worth the visit. The Hotel Torrecerredos is a perfect base from which to enjoy the daily hikes. It provides suitable rural hotel style accommodation but it also provides superb food, wine and hospitality. The local value for money was phenomenal, the last night night team meal in the Cafe Restaurant Cares was just 15 Euros for three huge courses with wine included.
As we scaled the summit of Macondiu we finally rose above the clouds. On an overcast day we had emerged into brilliant sunshine looking down on a sea of clouds with the peaks protruding like islands.
Alvaro Saiz was a superb group leader for this type of trip. He was concerned for the well-being of every member of the group and keen to ensure that everyone was safe and enjoying their holiday. He was well informed about the geology, flora, fauna, and history of the region and was able to share his knowledge with us. He was extremely diligent, working long hours to worry about the next day's weather and to consider the alternatives and fall-back plans if we should need them. He should go far.
I would highly recommend this trip.
One of the walks was ordinary. Like a woodland walk. Because of snow in the advertised walk we were told. But could have been a better alternative. Apart from that I would have given an excellent. Guide, Simon, accommodation and meals were all great, as were John and Jayne who looked after us.
Probably the trip to the Italian side with the views and wild flower meadows.
Excellent. Not only was he very knowledgeable, he could also tell a good joke. Natural leader and helped make the holiday. I am going to book the Tour of Mont Blanc next year, mostly because of his information about it and, of course, the taster I have had.
You need less clothes than you think!
Beautiful location in an unspoilt valley amongst the mountains of the Alpi Apuane and Apennines with a wide variety of walks possible to suit anyone from keen ramblers to the more adventurous. Accommodation is in a lovely farm estate with excellent home cooking, using much of their own produce, accompanied by their own most enjoyable light Sangiovese wine.
The panoramic view of the mountain ranges all around from the first summit we climbed. The final day spent climbing Tuscany's highest mountain.
Sara was an absolute star organising, guiding and caring for us, enabling us to achieve our aims in safety, comfort and good spirits. She was also a fount of knowledge about the area and everything we might want to do.
If you like walking through woodland up to mountain ridges and enjoy beautiful scenery do not hesitate to choose this trip.
The tour was very well organised. Our guide, Jolita was friendly, helpful and a fun person. It was an added bonus that the group was relatively small, 9people only. The transport minibus was comfortable and the drivers were excellent and helpful with the luggage. We enjoyed all the sites we visited and I would not recommend changing any of it. All accommodations were clean, comfortable and some really nice ones. I would definitely recommend this trip to others.
I am not sure that the right word is inspirational, but Plokstine was the most memorable impression of the trip and very enlightening.
Jolita was excellent, friendly and helpful, made sure the group stayed cohesive and she was fun too.
Bring warm clothes, waterproof shoes and clothes!
A great week of interesting walks through the various valleys of Cappadocia. Unique scenery and rock formations – a place not to be missed.
Although all the walks were good, my preference was the Ilhara valley. One of the reasons for this was the wildlife we saw beside the river that gave an additional dimension. I also very much enjoyed seeing the hot air balloons passing over our hotel and getting up early on a couple of mornings to photograph them.
Ilhan was great. He managed the group and individuals very well and even managed to teach us some Turkish. We enjoyed his information about the area and specifically the places we visited. We also enjoyed his stories and jokes on the bus. There was some heavy rain during our week. Ilhan changed the itinerary around so that it did not spoil any of the walks and even found us a tea house to shelter in during a particularly heavy downpour.
No - the description in the brochure was clear. The walking was not arduous at all. Moderate was the rating and that described it well.
The holiday was better than expected. The Picos are a spectacular range of mountains, and the Hotel, Hotel staff, and Group leader made the holiday one of the most memorable we’ve had.
What made this trip special were the other people on it. All twelve seemed to have something in common with the others. No loners, losers, or weirdos. Add to that a hotel staff that pulled out all the stops to ensure we enjoyed our stay, and a group leader who was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and witty ensured it was a holiday to remember.
Alvaro, the group leader, is a man in right the job. Brilliant
If you suffer from insect bites. Take antihistamine tablets, and anti mosquito spray with you.
