KERALA & TROPICAL INDIA

Excellent trip. Great mix of scenery and biking terrain. Highly recommened. Please read final section here about the average trip mileage.

Most Inspirational Moment

1 - The climb at Ooty, shame I wasn't feeling 100% though, rather fancied going for a good time.2 - The descent off of Ooty the next day. Crazy downhill bits, unexpected pot holes, incredible views. 3 - The food4 - Relaxing on our veranda looking directly out on the backwaters5 - The chill out "hippy vibe" at Varkala

Thoughts on Group Leader

Safi was superb. Very caring both towards the clients on the trip and all the locals we encountered on the trip.Nothing was too much effort for him. One of the best guides I have had on all my trips.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As with all Exodus trips, please read the trips notes so you are fully aware of what you are potentially booking. The accent and descent off of Ooty are tough, several of our group walked to the top. Don't be put off however by this. Good padded under shorts are a must. Drink plenty of water. Take anti bacterial gel to help minimise health problems. Listen to your guides and their advice on places to eat, or not.The cycling is not a race, enjoy the company of your new found friends and all the lovely local people. For those more experienced riders, look out for group members less able.

FINNISH WILDERNESS WEEK

A trip I could repeat again and again and never get tired of it.

Most Inspirational Moment

Loved the huskie dogs. So good I did it again on the optional day. Great location where you feel a million miles from your day to day life.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The leader made the holiday. The whole team work so hard and the food was fantastic.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't think twice go for it.

ATLAS PANORAMA

Very good trip, excellent information beforehand.Trip could include a little more walking, in total 2 days of 5 km and 3 longer days was a bit less than I expected, certainly with one of the days being only half a day.Gite is excellent in catering and not nearly as basic as expected.

Most Inspirational Moment

Being on top of the Panorama and playing card games at night in the gite. The food!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Guide (Hassan) was very good, clear instructions, not overly present but allways available and very kind.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring warm clothes in winter, also expect snow and rain. Trip notes are a little optimistic in that sense.

CUBAN HIGHLIGHTS RIDE

I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end! Lovely group, a beautiful place to cycle to and a vibrant and friendly place, and a brilliantly organized itinerary.

Most Inspirational Moment

Well, I loved the evening out in Trinidad when the group meal included dancing and joining in with the band on percussion! Such a laugh! An evening that makes me smile just to think about it! After that we  found a bar where we watched some gorgeous camp young men (great fun!) do synchronized salsa and they invited us to join in with them, and then danced salsa in the street as there was a festival on. The locals are great fun and have a real love of dancing and for life and love dancing with the tourists!I also loved the cycling, especially the fourth day, a fabulous way to see the country. Last but not least the day on the catamaran where we did some snorkelling and then had lunch on a Caribbean island was also to die for!!! Can't think of a better way to spend a holiday!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lovely! Tony is a cool Cuban knew all about the island and could answer any question. (and could salsa, as could everyone from what we could see)

Advice for Potential Travellers

Yes, when I arrived at Havana airport and was waiting for the rest of the group to get through immigration (a long process) I went to exchange some money. As I was a bit confused to begin with the girl on the exchange pretended that I had given her less money than I had. She went through an elaborate procedure of looking for the extra 50 euro note that she said I hadn't given her. Eventually, when I wouldn't back down, she 'found' the missing 50 euro, just in front of her underneath a shelf. So be careful! The locals don't ask for money but all would appreciate pens and soap, if you want to take some extra!!

TRAILS OF VIETNAM

Well when I decided to take this holiday I was thinking that I would love the country side the trekking and cycling part bit ,  but it was fantastic every second of the whole holiday. Did not want it to finish. Every day somthing different and beautifull.

Most Inspirational Moment

It very hard to find one moment as Holong Bay was really somthing and was nice to jump early morning for a swim. Our last day of Cycling on the way to Vinh Long passing through small villages seeing children waving at you adn passing through roads with rice fiels at each side was really great.Well can't forget the floating Market as being over there in the middle is a fantastic feeling. Minh Island. Vinh Long wished we could have stayed more then one night there.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Phat our tour leader was great/fantastic person. He was all time ther to make sure that we were all having fun. Only rested when we almost all went to bed as for the rest he was always happy to show us around and to make us see and feel like Vietnamese people. We usually ate Vietnamese Food which is really nice. Most important regarding Phat is that im Allergic to Nuts and fresh tomatoes and he always made sure to inform the restaurant or the village fanilies were we were staying. I felt relaxed and could enjoy my holiday.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Not really. Just take diferent layers of clothes as the weather does change completly at times. Important to take few warm sweaters as in the evenings especially in Holong Bay and also when we stayed at the Thai hilltribe longhouse. One need a warm cap and very warm clothes also to sleep with. For the rest mostly summer clothes , thin trousers and top will do. But always take waterproof  breathable trousers and jacket. I used them more then I taught.

FINNISH WINTER ADVENTURE - FAMILY HOLIDAY

This was action packed but relaxing too.  It was a great mix of organised activities and independence.  We learnt some new skills and then had time to practice and explore.  Being active in the dark was a particular novelty with the help of head torches.

Most Inspirational Moment

The setting of Oulanka National Park is breathtaking.  The landscape is monocrome - our bright coloured clothes the only colour in the black and while wilderness.  The sound of the husky dogs barking - so eager to be off is unforgettable.  Then whooosh we were off - very fast.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The staff were relaxed and friendly.  They couldn't do enough for us.  We really appreciated how relaxed they were about us changing our equipment for dry or additional.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You lucky things.  Don't worry about warm clothes - just base layers for adults will be all you need as everything is provided.  Although I was pleased to have brought my welly bobs for walking between our room and the dining hall.  I bought the blueberry syrup from reception and it is delicous and a lovely souvenir.  Don't be too disappointed if you don't see the Northern lights - we were pleased not to have such cold weather which usually comes with clear skies.

DISCOVER COSTA RICA

A wonderful experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about his country, the wildlife and conservation. Staying in eco lodges brought you closer to nature. The locals were very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting up at 5am and glimpsing not 1, but 5 resplendant Quetzals, Also, seeing Capuchin monkeys at Manuel Antonio National Park. Made the holiday for me.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book now.  It's very humid and clothes tend to get damp in your kit bag. Bring plenty of spares

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: VENABU

It was very nice hotel with excellent food, bus connection to the airport is comfortable. Our ski instructor are all very helpful and nice. Feeling like going again next year 🙂

FINNISH WILDERNESS WEEK

Fantastic- from start to finish, this really was a holiday to remember. Not only was the place incredible. The people I met on the trip were fantastic! Even before the trip the organisational skills from everyone was brilliant and I felt very well looked after in such a tranquil environment.

Most Inspirational Moment

Well, it would have to be that 10km walk on the very first day we arrived, but really everyday was brilliant. With such a variety of activities happening it day, it really was an excellent way to explore in the deep snow- whilst of course spending a lot of time on your bottom!

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was brilliant. Always happy and chatty and even spent evenings with us around the fire which was lovely. All the staff at Basecamp were excellent and were always there for you to answer any questions you might have. A very welcoming evnviroment

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you take a snood with you!! You will certainly need it. As well as thermals. They are provided but it is nice to have your own as well, so that you have an extra layer Be yourself and enjoy every minute- in the evenings you will be able to enjoy the hot tub and sauna, so after a long day in the snow you can relax!

GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

This holiday was outstanding in so many ways – it was a truly fantastic trip. If you are thinking about it, my advice is just get on and book it – you won't be disappointed!

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many highlights - it is hard to choose just a few.I loved swimming with the baby sea lions. They are so playful and come to have a close look at you.Snorkelling with turtles, rays and sharks was wonderful. The 'crossing the equator cocktails', the panga rides, the birds, the sunsets.....

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader, David Paez, was absolutely great. He was friendly, enthusiastic and fun as well as professional and ensured that everyone respected the wildlife. He was very knowledgable (biology degree and Galapagos Guide additional qualifications) and really made sure that we got the most out of every part of the trip. Thank you David!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book it!Don't take shampoo, shower gel or towels. These are provided in Quito at the hotel, and on the boat you have to use the environmentally friendly shampoo and soap provided. There are towels on the Cachalote for use on board and separate towels for beach use. There are power sockets and a safe in the cabin, also air conditioning which works well. Food is great and always a good selection. Snacks available after snorkelling/walking etc so no need to take any with you. Dress is informal. Pack light if you can as space is limited in the cabin. There are pegs and hooks to hang a few things inside the cabin and you can dry out your wet gear out on deck. The suggested tips may seem high at first glance, but the crew work so hard that they really do deserve them.
