A WEEK IN JORDAN

A fascinating week, packed with things to do and see, and very well led.

Most Inspirational Moment

The first sighting of the Treasury at Petra - yes, it looks like all the pictures, but it still is magic.

Thoughts on Group Leader

First class - knowledgeable, interesting, prepared to answer all kinds of questions and clearly not concerned to "give the party line".

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a universal plug (not electrical) for wash basins.  Several of the hotels have minor snags like ill-fitting plugs, doors that fall off wardrobes and so on - so if it bothers you, and you are handy, also take a small screwdriver.

CYCLING VIETNAM

I don’t think there are any words to describe this trip. It by far exceeded expectations, incredible landscape, extremely friendly people and amazing food. If you’re thinking of doing this trip, stop thinking and just book! It’ll be one of the best things you’ve ever done.

Most Inspirational Moment

I think there were a few great moments, the landscape at the end of the 100km day and the feeling of finishing it. Halong bay and the kayaking was so much fun and Halong bay is beautiful. Having clothes tailored in Hoi An was a lot of fun, make sure you take some pictures with you!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lam was fantastic, really felt that he cared if we were having a good time. Was attentive to detail and made the effort to interact with the group and really got our humour. Also recommended some really good restaurants.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's a very full on holiday so if you have the spare annual leave book a bit of time off when you get back. Use good sun screen. Don't pack too many clothes, you'll spend most of your time in cycling gear. If you have a good bike seat, take it with you!

HIGHLIGHTS OF MOROCCO

A good introduction to Morocco, packing in most of the country’s highlights. It was a terrific trip to a hugeley varied and interesting country – go and visit!

Most Inspirational Moment

There are lots of highlights. For me they included- tour of the city of Fez. Amazing place - like going back in time a few hundred years- the countryside of the Atlas mountains. Lovely scenery, and a different way of life- Essouria -indulging in the seafood and a lovely relaxed atmosphere- camel trek into the desert. A little adventure.- shopping in the souks

Thoughts on Group Leader

Husein is immensely patient and very informative.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I was with a party of 4 ladies and we did some independant exploration and we never felt threatened at any time, but take some comfy shoes - it's hot! Most of our group had stomach upsets at some point (although nothing too major), so do take appropriate medication with you. We left some unwanted clothing with the villagers in the mountains which was gratefully receivedParts of Morocco are becoming westernised and prices are rising accordingly, particularly in Marakech. (This was my third visit in 5 years and I noticed the difference). However, it is still a very different culture. See it while you can.

MOUNTAINS & VILLAGES OF EVIA

Overall good but there were also some drawbacks

Most Inspirational Moment

I would not describe any aspect as inspirational.  However, our favourite aspect of the holiday was our lovely hotel room with a great view out over the sea.  Despite being a fairly basic hotel, the owners were very friendly, helpful and relaxed and the location could not have been bettrer.

Thoughts on Group Leader

We had two group leaders, with a switch mid-week.  One was better than the other and the switch led to some discontinuity and some confusion when plans did not seem clear at all times.  Each day was fine, but not all questions about arrangements for subsequent days could be answered.  Would be better to stick to one group leader.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are a strong walker, don't do this holiday.  Advice for organisers - when the pace is slow, don't stop so often.  One day when we walked to a beautiful beach, we stopped so much on the way there, that we barely had time on the beach.  A small number of us snatched a quick swim then we were off.

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - LEMOSHO ROUTE

Well organised trip, good leaadership,  good food, great group.

Most Inspirational Moment

Wakening most mornings to sunshine with clouds below us and Mount Meru in the distance.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mussa was the perfect leader. As well as having a good sense of humour, he continually but quietly checked up on our state of health and kept an eye on what we ate. He was certainly a good role model for the other guides.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take camel back water system as that lets you use your walking poles without always having to stop for a drink.

CYCLE INDOCHINA & ANGKOR

Fantastic trip, wonderful guide Nee made the trip an unforgettable experience. The food was good and cycling really interesting through villages.

Most Inspirational Moment

The home stay with Kareokee, the food and sights of Angkor wat

Thoughts on Group Leader

Nee was fantastic - best your guide ever

Advice for Potential Travellers

Have a day in Bangkok before you join the tour

FINNISH WINTER ADVENTURE - FAMILY HOLIDAY

A wonderful family and ability friendly activity holiday.

Most Inspirational Moment

Snow shoe walking to the old mill with my sons. the power of the water and the weather made it a magical experience

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tessa was lovely, nothing was a problem, she was great with the kids and she had the patience of a saint!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take snacks and hot chocolate as we did, the odd cuppa soup wouldnt go a miss too especially if you have picky kids as the availability of food is minimal after meal times(all food was beautiful) except for finnish mars bars at 1.50 e a pop. plenty cards and cluedo scrabble and jenga available for after dinner, my 2 found their ds very useful as there is obviously no tv computer access. and evenings are long, but you will find the kids are shattered!you really dont need clothes. every imaginable layer is provided, gloves, hats, shoes, just take your own thermals and plenty of big socks, and disposable hand warmers were useful too. no one dresses for dinner, the clothes you arrived in are enough.Ruka is very expensive is hire the equipment and have a lesson for the day, at least 400e for a family of 4 before your lunch, if you love downhill skiing great but be warned,

WALKING ON THE GREEK ISLANDS

A well organised trip with an outstanding guide and very nice fellow walkers. The walks were just right for our age and fitness.

Most Inspirational Moment

The walk down the Byzantine way on Paros was spectacular. We, also, both felt a tremendous achievement in completing the 13kms. walk on Santorini.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was outstanding and lead us with humour and understanding. His knowledge about everywhere we visited was very good. He also was able to pass on lots of information about the long term history of where we visited. He knew some great restaurants and drinking "holes"

Advice for Potential Travellers

It was impotant to us that we selected the correct grade of walking to suite our age (over 70). It worked out very well and we did not feel that we were holding the walking party up!

MARRAKECH & THE SAHARA

This trip was not on the agenda as initially I simply wanted to do the Mount Toubkal trip, however I decided to make the most of my time in Morocco and experience as much as possible by adding the Marrakech and Saharah trip and all I can say is I am very glad I did!!! A whistle stop tour of some of the most beautiful parts of Morocco which only left me wanting to come back again and again.

Most Inspirational Moment

It's difficult to pick any one element from such a varied trip as everything was so different and special in its own way but the camel trek and camping under the stars in the desert has to rank up there as one of the highlights. Ultimately however it was the little, unexpected things that made the trip so good - chilling on the balcony of the Gite watching the sunset in the mountains, drinking mint tea by candlelight in the desert, shopping in the souks of Marrakech, seeing the city by horse and carriage at night and sampling the delicious Moroccon cuisine.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hassan is a fantastic group leader, knowledgable, experienced, patient and incredibly good humoured. He was instrumental in making the trip a good one, always ready with a smile and an interesting story. His knowledge of Moroccon culture and history is comprehensive and he went to every effort to ensure everyone had a good trip and that we were all well looked after.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Beware the heat! It is easy to forget just how hot it can get, especially in the summer months. Bring a large, light scarf/shawl for the camel trek - it takes a couple of hours to get to the desert camp and there is no shade so something to cover up with is essential as applying sunscreen while on the back of a moving camel is no easy task! Don't forget your camera :-)

FINNISH WILDERNESS WEEK

An awesome trip with amazing lovely people and happy helpful staff, I would recomend this trip to all.

Most Inspirational Moment

Stood in the middle of a frozen lake ankle deep in snow in perfect silence!Listening to the huskeys howl with excitement at the forthcoming ride we were about to do!Reaching the top oif the ice wall after battering away at it on three previous attempts!

Thoughts on Group Leader

The staff in general were brilliant, always helpful, always smiling, always eager to fulfill our constant demands even when they were understaffed and rushed off of their feet.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Plan your trip well as the extras can be expensive!
