THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAVELLING AS YOU STATED BUT THE BUS WAS ONLY JUST BIG ENOUGH FOR 13 TRAVELLERS. tHE ACCOMMODATION WAS MOSTLY VERY GOOD..WE WERE ALL DISAPPOINTED BY THE ABSENCE OF WILDLIFE IN SOME AREAS SUCH AS BELL A CCOLA.

We had a brilliant week – fantastic scenery, a great group and an excellent and enthusiastic guide in Veriano.
Climbing up Monte Tre Calli and seeing the view along the coast and to Capri for the first time.
Veriano was a great guide with excellent local knowledge and boundless enthusiasm.
You need a good level of fitness as the walking is undulating, with lots of steps (mostly down) and it is made trickier in the heat.
This was a great holiday . Andrea was an excellent guide , we visited some really interesting places on and off the beaten track.
Arriving in Matera
Excellent - nothing was too much trouble and he knew so much about the local area.
Book it
A truly excellent week! This trip takes you to a relatively unexplored but beautiful mountainous area of Spain – most days we met no-one. The scenery was spectacular – stunning limestone cliffs, sea views, olive groves and traditional villages. Our guide was exceptional – Jose shared his local passion for the area he’s grown up in; whilst also deepening our own appreciation of the area with his wealth of social, cultural and historical knowledge.
Hard to pick one - but the combination of glorious views out to the sea, some exciting walking, tasting fresh figs and carob off the trees, and the lovely fragrance of rosemary and pines along the trails: all stand out as memorable.
As mentioned, Jose's enthusiasm, expertise and efficiency made the trip a particularly enjoyable experience. He really did go above and beyond in terms of dedication. For example, even on the free day, he helped me plan my own local walk, source the relevant map and sorted out a drop off and pick up too. The local version of paella he cooked on the final night was a real highlight too!
The highlights of this trip speak for themselves and were excellent – we particularly enjoyed Maligne Gorge near Jasper, walking at Lake Louise, walking on Athabasca Glacier, the ferry from Bella Coola to Vancouver Island, the raft trip, the whale watching trip and the optional sea kayaking. However, Canada is vast, so don’t underestimate the time you spend travelling. There are a number of VERY long days in the minibus, which can be quite cramped if it is full to capacity. With a maximum of 2 nights stay in any one location, you are always either unpacking or packing, and with various early starts it is quite a tiring holiday. What it does do is give you a great overview of this area of the Rockies and Vancouver Island. There were some great locations worthy of spending more time in, perhaps in future
Spending time with wild Orca off the coast of Vancouver Island. The weather was calm and the sea was flat - it was absolutely magical seeing the long dorsal fins break the surface of the water
Marie-Josee was great- we think this was a hard trip for a tour guide- it was a full two weeks with long drives, cooking and food preparation, but she was brilliant, well organised and helpful. We encountered a problem at the Nimpo Lake lodges- initially 8 of us were booked into one lodge, and although technically there were 8 beds, the group sleeping, seating and bathroom facilities were not really big enough (perhaps they would have been suitable for a family group). Marie-Josee listened to the group's comments and got another 2 rooms organised as soon as she could.
The trip is varied with historical sites, geological wonders, cultural sites and scenic beauty. I particularly liked Pammukale, Cappadoccia, and the ancient cities.
Walking through the scenery of Pammukale under a full moon.
Alp was very informative concerning the history and culture of the region. He was also patient and available to help us.
Prepare for hot weather and a substantial amount of walking.
Great week of hiking in the beautiful Sierra de Aitana. Itinerary was great involving steep ascents and descents across rocky terrain and sometimes over scree means but worth it for the challenge and the views – poles are good to have. Jose was a brilliant guide – super knowledgeable about the area and the mountains (he is a local and a climber) and ensured we ascended and descended safely and reached the summits before the bad weather rolled in on the two days it rained for a couple of hours. He also made fantastic sandwiches for our packed lunch and cooked paella for our dinner on the last night, giving us a lesson on how to do so in the process, The hotel (Rincon de Pepe) was simple but clean and comfortable and Raquel, the owner, made us tasty three course traditional Spanish meals each evening. Thank you Jose and Raquel for making the holiday so enjoyable;
Climbing o the summit of Aitana
Fantastic - Jose went above and beyond what is required of a tour leader
Poles are helpful
An excellent itinerary that showcases some of the finest historic sites in Jordan. I highly recommend this trip. The usual well thought out arrangements by Exodus for hotels, restaurants and recreation.
The impressive crusader castles with their water systems and defences Petra, of course The Wadi Rum camp with traditional style Bedouin tents, zarb cooked in the sand and the night stars The imposing caravanserai conjouring up thoughts of silk route travels
Very keen to show us as much as possible of Jordan in a short timeframe. Excellent knowledge of the history of his country and the sites we visited Well organised travel, meals and hotel arrangements It is quite an intensive trip and it would be good to develop a leadership style that caters for different levels of physical ability. However, group members were very supportive and we ensured nobody got left behind on their own.
Be prepared for fast moving, riderless donkeys descending the narrow and slippery steps at Petra and flatten yourself against the wall. The walk to the High Place of Sacrifice is long and can be very hot as there is no shade and heat reflects off the stone so wear hats, sunscreen and take plenty of water if you decide to do it. Be prepared for your tour leader to say in front of local vendors that they have families to feed and offer fair prices. Leaders are in a difficult position as they need to maintain a good relationship with the people on the sites they take visitors to. Your leader may also say privately to your group that you do not need to purchase anything. You will make your own mind up if the items are worth the prices asked.
The first time I have visited Croatia and although others had told me what a beautiful country it far exceeded my expectations. Although Trogir, Lumbarda, Split and Dubrovnik are the main destinations, the islands were absolutely beautiful. So many different experiences were offered: Catamarans/Ferries, Vineyards, Olive Groves, GRK Winery, Olive & Liquor Tasting & Beaches amongst many. It felt like I had been there much longer than a week, as we visited so many different attractions.. I was concerned initially about being part of a group of 15, but what an amazing group they were! The Hotels were fine, improving as we progressed, with the Hotel Splendid in Dubrovnik, excelling my expectations. Ivan, our guide was absolutely superb and so informative in the history of his country. His patience, assistance and management of such a large group was off the scale. He also had a great sense of humour! Be ‘warned’ – lots of walking and steps!! My Fitbit states: 126,836 steps, 96 km and 236 floors, but it was so worth it!! I can’t recommend this trip highly enough
Learning about the history of the country, from Ivan and the 2 local guides
Ivan, our guide was absolutely superb and so informative in the history of his country. His patience, assistance and management of such a large group was off the scale. He also had a great sense of humour and appeared to enjoy our company individually as well as the group as a whole. On some of the more tricky walks, he always made sure myself and others were OK and helped where needed.
The hotels do not have lifts, so be prepared for hiking your case up a few flights of stairs. Almost everywhere is accessed by countless steps and some of the terrain had large boulders to manoeuvre. The pavements in Dubrovnik are polished limestone and are slippery if you don't wear shoes/sandals with grippy soles. We were very luck with the weather and only had sun, but they would be lethal if raining.
A fabulous trip, very well organised to include many different areas. We saw 4 of the Big 5, but not the elusive leopard! Our guide Adonia was very knowledgeable about every aspect of these beautiful countries, and together with Sifiso our driver we learned and saw a lot. Both were very patient and kind and went out of their way to make the holiday special, always with a great sense of humour. Quite a tough going trip with early starts and a couple of long drives but well worth it.
Probably the young girl who showed us around the Painted Dog sanctuary. She was passionate about her work and positive in very challenging circumstances. All the people involved in the holiday were very warm and welcoming.
Adonia was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of these two beautiful countries and enthusiastically passed on his knowledge. Together with Sifiso our driver, they made sure we had a great time, always with patience, kindness determination and humour. Very special people, and great assets to Exodus.
Some long drives and early starts so get to bed early!
