Highlights of the Amalfi Coast

Our guide, Veriano, was amazing displaying genuine care, humor, and attention to detail; The Hotel Due Torri was the perfect homebase for the week; and we truly enjoyed each of the places we visited

Most Inspirational Moment

Hiking the Path of the Gods plus the visits to Ravello and Capri

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was outstanding! Clearly proud of his Amalfi coast home, he shared much about the area to improve our understanding. He demonstrated caring and concern for all, always had good humor, and the transportation planning was so good it seemed magical

A unique experience - but the booking info and trip notes need a review please !!!

This was my first solo long-haul adventure and I felt privileged and grateful to be immersed in such a unique, fragile and important environment. The wildlife was abundant and spectacular – on land, air and sea. The boat accommodation was excellent and the guide and crew were always on hand, helpful and good-humoured.

Most Inspirational Moment

For me, taking a cooling dip in a shallow bay after a hike and finding myself swimming with sea lions who had no fear of me, just curious and playful. This is how man’s relationship with wildlife should be.

Fabricio our guide was a knowledgeable naturalist who also knew about the history of and geology of the islands. He was outgoing, personable and witty, able to engage a mixed group of nationalities and ages.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is the important bit for Exodus and potential travellers! The trip notes and information provided in advance of the trip were not correct in some key aspects. A fundamental error, although it did not ultimately matter as I thoroughly enjoyed the journey, was that I was informed I was on Itinerary C but was actually on Itinerary B! The trip notes state that a transfer is provided from Quito airport to the hotel for the first night and that the guide meets the group at the hotel and there is a welcome meeting. None of this is correct and I was left entirely to my own devices until I actually reached the Galapagos. Fortunately the hotel provides a shuttle service to the airport. Another thing very important for travellers to know is that the advice in the itinerary and trip notes to not carry a suitcase or wheeled bag and use a soft holdall or rucksack due to space on the boat can safely be ignored. Basically it is up to you to decide how much of your cabin space is taken up by your luggage! I crammed over a week’s worth of gear into a rucksack only to see everybody else’s hard and large wheeled suitcases comfortably accommodated on the boat. I was asked more than once where my luggage was!! Not at all clear why Exodus advise this. Otherwise it is worth noting that Quito and Quayaquil airports have good facilities and seem to run quite efficiently, although passport control at Quito is pretty slow. Staff were helpful.

We’re really grateful for Chris’s review and are so glad he had such a good time in the Galapagos!

We noted Chris had some concerns about a couple of aspects of the trip, firstly about his arrival transfer. We arrange for a local guide to meet customers either at the airport or the start hotel in Quito to explain the schedule for the coming days, and are surprised that this didn’t happen on Chris’s trip. This has been raised with our local operator and we are looking into what happened, but this is certainly the first time we have been made aware of a guide not being present on arrival.

We’re apologetic that Chris felt mislead by our trip notes regarding the size/type of luggage needed for the boat – we are changing this in the trip notes as a matter of priority, as customers are able to bring any size of luggage onto the boat, as the suites are around 23 square metres and can comfortably accommodate most standard pieces of luggage.

We hope this can show that we take this kind of feedback seriously, but are very glad that overall, Chris had an excellent time on the trip.

Iconic Dolomites Hikes

Loved the hikes…views and Villabassa and surrounding areas were charming villages

Most Inspirational Moment

Hiking day 3. Enjoyed the prepared meals...although diner tended to drag on.

She was great. Patient answering questions. When needed she took the lead to ensure the safety of the group. She was able to assess strength and weaknesses of individuals and accommodated. Overall she did a great job and I am grateful to have met her. Very interesting and honest individual.

Excellent Trek - Do it whilst it's quiet (April 2026)

For a new trip, we were really impressed. Excellent organisation and adaptability. A few tweaks from Exodus regarding the itinerary and hotels can make this a best seller. We were only a small group (3 single travellers and us – a mother and daughter), and we had a fantastic time!

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking through the tea plantations and through the cloud jungle of Horton Plains. Apart from the walks around Ella, we saw a handful of walkers the whole trip - giving us a peaceful and special experience. Go now before it becomes more popular.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mac went the extra mile throughout the trip. He arranged for leech socks to be bought for us (these weren't included on the Exodus packing guide and were needed during our trip). This is not a trip that can be done self-guided, as signage was sporadic and you could easily get lost in the middle of a tea plantation. Our deputy / tracker particularly looked after the back of the group, especially in poor weather (ensuring their safety). He was also a wealth of knowledge about the local flora and fauna. Conversations with Mac were always interesting and illuminating, particularly on the topic of Sri Lankan culture.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Leech socks are a must. Be prepared that there are some challenging walking days; particularly some days of long ascents, and some with back to back stages. One person in our trip added a day in Kandy to the start of the trip, which was a good idea to be able to see the city and it's attractions. We added some extra nights on the coast at the end of the trip (near the airport), which was lovely icing on the cake to relax after the walking.

Windy

Porto and Lisbon are fabulous places to discover if you have a few days and love coffee shops. Lots to do there, lots to see,eat and drink. I could happily spend 3 or 4 days in each city. Some of the small fishing ports were fab too. On the whole it was a little too windy cycling along the coast and uphill but i’m glad I did the trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The magnificent and beautiful Lisbon.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Dinis but the 3 of them were equally good.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get some cycling done before you go, you need to have plenty of miles in the legs .

Walking in Albania

Lovely itinerary with good mix of walking, culture, authentic Albania off the beacon track and key sites l. Well organised throughout pre and during tour

Most Inspirational Moment

I genuinely enjoyed all of the elements. Walking was beautiful and weirdly liked the beauty of the snow. Nice to have a more basic night (but just one!), and the towns were all worth seeing. I liked all the sharing meals like the lunch at the end of the hike by a local family and the meal on the first night

Thoughts on Group Leader

Phenomenal leader. Really organised and made it all feel seamless. Perfect English and knew everything about Albania. It was a harder trip for him as we had snow which was unprecedented and made the trekking much harder. He also had to change some routes. He was unflappable and made us all feel very safe and looked after. Nice sense of humour too making it really fun. Dorian (the local tour company owner) also joined us given the snow and was great

Discover the Baltics

Overall the trip was excellent with time to explore alone and with company.

Most Inspirational Moment

The guide in Tallinn, strawberries at the border in Estonia not Latvia, the Witches Hill, Klaipeda to name a few.

Thoughts on Group Leader

We were the first tour of the season and he thought his English would not be good enough. It was excellent. He made suggestions of where and what we could do with our free time. Helped us understand the history of the States and how it affects/affected life. We felt we could ask him anything. He kept us together when necessary.

Borneo Wildlife Discoverer

Well organized, hitting the highlights of Malaysian Borneo. Guides were knowledgeable, good communicators to make agendas and expectations clear.

Most Inspirational Moment

Sepilok and snorkeling in the South China Sea

Thoughts on Group Leader

Nik - organized, excellent communication skills and command of English. Readily able to make recommendations on restaurants and where to find what we needed along the way. Nostalia - great energy, great organization, preparation, and reporting of spending for tips, good communications skills, however, at times I think members of the group had challenges understanding her accent

Cycling in Albania

The trip was a nice balance of visiting a beautiful country, with a great guide, good group of fellow travellers, and nice cycling.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Albania and interacting with the people. Our guide was outstanding, as was our driver.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was excellent - passionate about Albania, knowledgeable, conscientious, meticulous with planning and follow through on details. Always fun to be with - a true leader.

Hiking in Andorra

My two daughters and I joined the May 9th to 16th, 2026, hiking in Andorra Exodus trip. We were based in Canillo, 20 minutes north of the capital, Andorra la Vella and stayed in the Hotel ‘Roc Meler’. The hotel featured a huge Irish Pub with a bar menu, a pool and spa area, and a dining floor. Large buffet breakfasts plus a bag lunch were included. The hotel is built on a very steep slope so entry was on the top floor with all other floors down. Interestingly the individual room temperature is controlled by the front desk. We found this hotel to be very comfortable and the spa was very rewarding after a days hiking, it cost extra to go to the spa but it was so worth it!

We had 5 days of wonderful hiking. Steep mountains mean, a lot of steep trails. This last winter saw the most snow in 30 years so three of the hikes on the itinerary were not possible. Our guide Alfonso did an excellent job of finding alternate routes. A gentler day was a 13 km walk down a river valley seeing the local houses, farms and an old iron mine on the way. We stopped mid way for coffee, and finished up with beer in Ordino. Every hike offered something different and the scenery was incredible. The high lakes were still frozen. All five hiking days were sunny in the morning with either snow or rain by dinner time after we had finished. We thoroughly enjoyed each day and if our guide didn’t tell us, we wouldn’t have known the itinerary had changed.

Our “day off’ was saved for the last day due to the forecast. We had lunch in Andorra la Vella and spent the afternoon at the spa. The city itself is modern, clean and offers duty free shopping. Even though it is on the pricey side, I highly recommend you try the Caldea spa if you are ever in Andorra. Overall, our week was “moderate” with a few challenging parts because of hiking on snow. Local transportation was by taxi. The pick up and drop off to Barcelona airport worked beautifully. We had a fantastic week and highly recommend booking this trip!

Most Inspirational Moment

The highlight hike of the week was pic de Casamanya (2740 m) which we did on the second day. A light dusting of snow from the previous night added to the beauty of this hike. It was sunny and warm at the top and by turning 360 degrees, you can see all of Andorra! This hike is normally saved as a grand finale of the week.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide Alfonso was very knowledgeable, well organized, patient and responsive to the needs and ability levels of the group. My two daughters are in their early 20’s and absolutely loved this trip. Alfonso was thrilled to have their energy, and made the trip a lot of fun for them. It was a pleasure to spend a week with him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are thinking of booking this trip early in the season like we did, there is the possibility of snow on the ground. Come prepared with layers, rain jackets, a hat, etc. With the variable terrain, we would also highly recommend bringing hiking poles.
