We would like to thank James for his feedback. We were pleased to read that he found Machu Picchu to be brilliant, although we are sorry that he has concerns about the cost of the trip. Following previous correspondence, we have responded to these concerns on an individual basis. Taking into account all of the reviews we have received, we remain confident that the price of our Inca Trail & the Amazon Rainforest tour offers excellent value for money and we feel that we are very clear in our trip notes about the expected tipping amounts.   Sarah Ahern – Product Manager

Varied riding in the sun

This is a great winter getaway for people with at least some off road mountain bike experience, most, but not all of the rough and technical sections can be avioded but there was nothing which was excessively technical.
The scenery was impressive with a good variety of landscape to enjoy.
Dont think this trip is all downhill, there are some demanding climbs.
The leaders, Liz and Ranu were excellent, looking after everybody from skilled riders to the less experienced.
Hotels were pretty good, food was adequate rather than good, apart from the lunches on trail which were always good, plenty of snacks and drinks always on hand.
A quibble which didnt affect me personally was that some of the bikes were supplied with the brakes reversed, which is an accident waiting to happen, and unfortunately one of our group needed a trip to hospital for a clean up and a stitch after braking hard to avoid a child, unfortunately he was used to the brakes the UK way round and pressed hard on what he thought was the rear brake, and went over the bars as he pulled hard on front brake which was were the rear normally is ! Unfortunately the first time we saw the bikes was at the first trailhead so no time to swap and bleed the brakes.
But overall it was an excellent trip with a large but lovely group of people, highly recommended, just check the bikes are set up properly.

Most Inspirational Moment

Riding some of the rough sections and the descent on the last day.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure the bikes are set up for your preferences, take a saddle, handlebar grips and pedals so your contact points are what you are used to.

Excellent trip

Most Inspirational Moment

Traveling through the different landscapes and climate zones

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alex Aguilera is a very good group leader.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's the excellent opportunity to see different parts of Chile in a single trip but any future traveler should be ready to spend a lot of time commuting from one place to another. It’s absolutely worth it but should be noted.

Riding up rocks

Great trip with excellent leaders, stunning landscapes and challenging trails

Most Inspirational Moment

Every day the landscapes and rides were exceptionally good but the final days ride was great for the views and variety of trails and the amazing descent to the sea

Thoughts on Group Leader

Liz and Radu were always professional and expert in their management of the the varied skills within the group . Their knowledge of the area, bike skills, good humour, planning and organisational skills were excellent. They made the holiday run safe, smooth and well.

Amazing trip - a real ‘Pearl’ in the Indian Ocean

2 weeks of ‘Heaven’ – a full on and busy trip with ‘free’ time if needed – the trip included a bit of everything – temples, Buddhist sculptures, tea plantations, ancient cities, history, religion, hiking, wildlife and amazing scenery etc.
I loved meeting the tsunami victims and the local farmers and I loved the variety of transport – coach, jeeps, tuk tuks, cycles, tractor, train and ferry.
The hotels were outstanding although the Bandarawela Hotel did not reach anywhere near the standard you would expect on a Premium trip – it was a very dated, tired hotel – luckily we only stayed there for one night.

Most Inspirational Moment

Adams Peak climb and reaching the top was amazing! Visiting Lions Rock with its wonderful views of the surrounding area.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ruwan was an outstanding group leader! He was knowledgeable, super organised, professional, helpful, friendly, approachable, was always smiling and he even had an ‘English’ sense of humour! He is clearly passionate about his country and his job. Every day he gave an excellent history lesson of Sri Lanka which we all found extremely interesting! Our bus driver, Roshan, was an excellent driver and made us feel safe on the hectic, busy Sri Lankan roads.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go with an open mind - be prepared for some early starts and if possible, do everything that is on offer - you won’t be disappointed!

Undiscovered Atlas

What an excellent trip. The scenery was stunning, night skies breathe taking, the sunsets and sunrises beautiful. Lassan, our guide had great local knowledge, was patient, paced well and always had a plan B when required. We received great support from the whole team and special mention to the chef Hussain who produced very tasty food. The walking was great, hard at times but pitched at the right level. The icing on the cake was a great bunch of fellow traveller. A most excellent adventure indeed.

Most Inspirational Moment

Feeling like you are wandering in the wilderness, just our group and no other tourists.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just do it.

Enjoyable week of snowy activities

A wonderful week in beautiful surroundings and well organised activites by the team at basecamp. An opportunity to experience the full beauty of Finland and try a variety of snowy activities. Comfortable warm lodge, varied and plentiful wholesome food, a welcoming and client-oriented basecamp team and a great mixiture of snow sports and actiivites. One of my favourite Exodus holidays.

Most Inspirational Moment

I love everything, but in particular the dogsledding. It was very unexpectd to walk into someone's home and be so welcomed. A great experience all round. The dogs are so well looked after and well behaved. The owners were adorable.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fab. The Exodus leader was great. Our team leader at Basecamp was brilliant. She did all the right things and ensured that everyone had equal experince of activities regardless of level and experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do it. It's a great experience, and take a dressing gown to get you from your apartment to the sauna.

An unforgettable experience

The cycling was challenging at times due to ascent and temperature but the local guides were realistic and supportive. The trip through three Indian states showcased the amazing friendliness of the local Indian people. The trip demonstrated the wildlife of Indian, the heritage of the area, history and heritage of the locals and the cycling challenges.
Recommended as a great way to see the real India. Please don’t see each day as a race and get into the Indian time zone and slow down and enjoy the time cycling rather than try and finish first.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing tigers and elephants in the wild.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Joseph is a Kerala local who cares deeply about his clients and has great local knowledge.

Review of A week in Jordan trip

This is my third trip with Exodus and overall I have to say that it was a great experience – with lots of variety and some fantastic highlights.

Most Inspirational Moment

Definitely Petra - the best thing about this trip is that there is two whole days in Petra and your really need it as the place is VAST!!! With this trip you get to see huge areas of the lost city - especially away from the crowds around the Siq and the Treasury - we basically had the place to ourselves - and it really added to the experience. I do acknowledge it was the low season and we were lucky with the weather! Indeed, the blue skies and cool temperatures (15c) helped make it very pleasant to do the all walking and climbing steps - there is a fair bit of walking involved around Petra! The highlights for me was walking down the Siq to the Treasury - its very length created real anticipation which was rewarded by the final view of the treasury!! Also the trek up to the Place of High Sacrifice was incredible - again a little of the beaten track so devoid of any crowds apart from our group. Another highlight was the roman city of Jarash - I thought it would just be a few interesting ruins but it really exceeded my expectations - it is vast and very well preserved - and again due to the time of year we had the place pretty much to ourselves - which was great for taking photos!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Issa - was a great tour guide - very professional and if you asked him for something...be it an ATM, a toilet break, Pharmacy he would make it his priority. He had a great knowledge and love of the country and went out of his way to show it. I should also mention the bus driver Admed - who also great at his job and very careful on the roads (unlike some past travel experiences I have had). Despite his limited English he was also very friendly and courteous, easy going and had a great sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Overall I would say definitely go.... but when you do keep in mind the follow issues: - Be prepared for long days (leaving the hotel at 8pm -so really up before 7am) - this is needed particularly in the winter as it gets dark in Jordan at 4.30 pm and lots of sites close at sunset. -I'd advice people to bring some snacks, cereal bars etc as the days are long and you stop at a lot of places to buy snacks which are ridiculously over priced for the country - for example I was charged between 1 and 1.50 dinar for a Mars Bar in a touristy type service station but paid 0.3 dinar for one in Amman in a regular shop. - Bring sandals to wear into the Dead Sea - I cut the bottom of my foot pretty badly on the extremely sharp salt crystals on the seabed - this caused me a lot of grief in the subsequent days when I was hiking for long periods.
