Memorable trip

Cathedrals, Temples, Churches, Monasteries, ruins scatter over beautiful ‘picturesque’ landscape of rolling green hills and mountain top, and a view of Mount Ararat or Mount Kazbek, ahhh… Well organized itinerary.
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip with a company of like minded, well traveled and mature people from various countries.

Most Inspirational Moment

Karahunj (Zorats Karer) - the Armenian Stonehenge (Yey)!!! and walk up to Gergeti Trinity Church in Georgia, definitely.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Well organized and knowledgeable in many respects. They love their respective countries and enthusiastic to introduce us their land with pride. They both looked after us so professionally, even though they both very young. Armenian guide (Rafik) is a young man of intelligence and made us smile with witty sense of humor. Thanks for taking us to Karahunj (was in my bucket list last few decades, accomplished!), afternoon tea at Molokan Village, Lavash bread making demo. Georgian guide (Nino) is always cordial with beautiful smile. Thanks for ‘Daily Reminder’ each night so that we can prepare for what to expect the following day. You somehow managed not to lose any of us during the walk to/from Gergeti Trinity Church!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring your own scarf for ladies and long pants for gents esp. in Georgia. If you forget, you may be able to borrow at the entrance of churches free of charge. Bring comfortable walking shoes. Always ask if you can take photo before you enter the religious monuments. If you like history and cultural experience, briefly research where you are going to visit beforehand so that you can enjoy and appreciate it more. Both countries were cross-road of many different cultures, religions and empires along the silk roads over the centuries, made them uniquely distinct place with beautiful scenery.

Wonderful first experience of walking holidays!

Really enjoyed this trip, our guide, Liz, was excellent, the walks were well planned and we were able to explore this beautiful region, the Garfagnana area, which we had not visited before. The agriturismo experience was another first for us, our hosts were warm and welcoming and the food and home-produced wine was plentiful and tasty, it was a lovely environment. We were lucky to be with a very friendly group of fellow walkers which added to the experience and we have arrived home feeling very refreshed and keen to book another Exodus trip in the near future. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys walking and beautiful countryside.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved it all!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Liz was very enthusiastic and planned our days well, taking into account weather conditions and everyone’s needs. She was very attentive to each person on the trip and the holiday would not have been the same without her.

Book this trip!

Loved every minute....even the rain!

This trip was to celebrate a big birthday for a dear friend, and it was truly one of the best ways I can imagine to usher in a new decade. We are casual cyclists so it was great there was nothing too daunting in terms of distance and elevation – and I was so distracted by the stunning scenes that I did not mind the odd view stop on the steeper bits.

Most Inspirational Moment

I will never forget turning the corner and seeing beautiful Lake Garda - truly magical, and I thought it could not be topped - that was until Michele took us to look at the roof tops of Venice. Breathtaking!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Michele and Martino were a great team, and I think Michele's local knowledge shone through in terms of his recommendations for restaurants every evening. He's a passionate Italian Ambassador, and for sure the trip was greatly enhanced by his local knowledge and passion for this beautiful part of the world.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring a sense of humour if it rains!

Sorry, I meant to add that Exodus should perhaps delete the reference to the “library” on the cruise from the Trip Notes. The library consisted of 16 dog-eared books left behind by previous travellers. Only one was in English.

We would like to thank Graham for his feedback. We are, however, sorry to learn of his disappointment with the selection of books on the cruise. Our local operator has advised us that there are usually more books available, but sometimes a number of books end up in clients’ rooms and in other areas of the boat, such as the sun deck.  Our local operator has also confirmed that they plan to add more books to the library, in order for clients to have a greater selection. Great trip!

A thoroughly enjoyable and well planned trip. Our guide Sujan was great. Hotels of good standard. Good bunch of people.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the devotion of old people climbing Adam's Peak.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent, very amusing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Wear socks on temple visits to avoid burnt feet. Leeches are a problem, wear leech socks (£20) or poly bags inside your boots (free).

Treking in Croatia

This was my first trip with Exodus & won’t be my last (says it all really!)
Good overview of many areas of Croatia – cities, National Parks, coastal towns.

Most Inspirational Moment

I really enjoyed the final days walking as it was just a little more challenging - I would have liked all the walks to have been longer as we were often finished by 3-4pm. As I went in May it was still Springtime, so the meadows & hedgerows were beautifully green with plenty of wild flowers to be found. The company was great & our Guide made sure we were all included in decision making for stops, meal out etc.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mario was excellent - informative friendly, willing to walk at a sensible pace. Lots of interesting discussions during the day & at mealtimes.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This was my first holiday on my own & I was understandably excited but a little apprehensive. I would have no problems going alone again. In our group we were all 'singles', but it didn't matter. It was well organised & meeting up with the Guide & the group was really easy.

Religious and religious historical highlights of Georgia and Armenia

This trip is only really suitable for devout Christians or religious and historical architecture scholars, there is so much emphasis on ancient churches, monasteries, cathedrals etc. and the details of their contents. There are many long drives, and very little free time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and/or wildlife. Tbilisi is wonderful and certainly worth the journey

Most Inspirational Moment

Tbilisi

Thoughts on Group Leader

Leader in Armenia was very organised, spoke impeccable English, seemed genuinely caring for the group Leader in Georgia was enthusiastic, clearly loved Georgia but was not quite so good at keeping to the time or keeping a check on all the group Both leaders tended to lecture for too long on the religious/ history/ architecture of every building we entered

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't expect too much apart from religious buildings and long journeys to access them

We would like to thank Gillian for her feedback, although we regret that she did not enjoy her time in Georgia and Armenia. We appreciate that there are many religious buildings to see whilst travelling these countries, this is due to their cultural heritage and these are all detailed in the trip notes. We find most clients enjoy the balance between historical and current-day cultural experiences; however we are genuinely sorry that Gillian’s experience was not so positive. We will discuss with the local manager if we can include any further local, interactive activities.

An excellent adventure

A great holiday with memorable sights.

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra was amazing and two days well spent.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eddie was great.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take toilet paper and imodium. You will need both. If you drink then take duty free with you. Drinking in Jordan is expensive and hard to find. Almost impossible during Ramadan. Good walking shoes for Petra. Hat is essential.

cycle in greece

have been on quite a few cycle holidays with exodus and exp[;lore and always have given 5 or 4 star ratings, this time only 3 star. This was mainly down to the tour leader Demitreas who is a bit set in his ways. There was an unusual heat wave for that time of year and temps were up to 90degree . by midday. This would of been OK as they have you on the bikes by 8 am most mornings when its cooler. The problem was we would be only riding for a short distance, and then stop to see some really interesting ruin then a massive lunch spread laid on which is very nice.Consequently we would start off after all this food about 2pm. doing fairly difficult climbs and distance in the main heat of the day. I had numerous conversations with Demitreas with regard to changing the itinerary to suit the weather conditions but he was quite an arrogant chappy who was not prepared to compromise. OTHER than that the trip was pretty good with decent accommodation and a friendly group. It will not put me off on booking future trips.

Most Inspirational Moment

The hotel; stay up in the mountains was fabulous, good food and very chilled

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was a girl called Naovi who was absolutely lovely.,but as explained above Demitrias was calling all the shots and making all the decisions, I think he was training Naovi.Get rid of him and keep her.

A fantastic trip full of variety with amazing places to visit

A trip well worth taking. The amazing places we visited took our breath away at times. Even on the long travel days the views were spectacular making time fly.

Most Inspirational Moment

Lake Titicaca and the reed islands

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sebastian was very good - a warm man with a good sense of humour. He was tested during our trip due to travellers becoming unwell. He still made sure everyone else was ok which was very professional. He is now trying to help me with some lost shopping in Cusco which I am very thankful for.

Advice for Potential Travellers

What to wear is tricky due to the forever changing climatic conditions. So be sure to pack layers!!
