An absolutely breathtaking and fantastic trip

This trip was everything I hoped it would be and had been on my bucket list for some time. And it is almost impossible to put into words.
I have been lucky enough to travel with Exodus on numerous occasions, and this trip is one of the best I have ever been on. I was lucky enough to be with a wonderful group of people as well.
The itinerary is perfectly thought through – from the historical sights of Amman and Jerash to the walking at Petra to the occasions to relax (especially at the Red Sea and the Dead Sea.)
Jordan is a stunning country; rich in culture and history with extraordinary landscapes. From the grandeur of Petra to the serenity of the Wadi Rum to the relaxation of the Dead Sea. Jordan really is the total package.
The people of Jordan are amongst the friendliest in the world, and need us as tourists right now. If you are wondering whether it is safe – IT IS!
The transport used was very comfortable with WiFi, charging points and air conditioning on the coach. (Our driver was also great – felt very safe with him at the wheel.)

Most Inspirational Moment

I have two, and I cannot decide which one should be most inspiring! 1) Petra was everything I had imagined, and the "reveal" of The Treasury as you walked down towards it was breathtaking. 2) The night in the Wadi Rum was perfectly serene - from watching the sunset, to star gazing to seeing the sun rise was just magical.

Thoughts on Group Leader

I was very lucky to have had Mikhled as my Tour Leader for this trip. Mikhled is a wonderful leader. We could not have asked for a better or more knowledgeable Tour Leader. He shared his knowledge and love for his country with passion together with a sense of fun. He guided us with sensitivity, kindness and with the patience of a saint. Exodus are truly lucky to have him as a Tour Leader, and as a proud Jordanian he is a true representative for his wonderful country of Jordan. He went above and beyond on several occasions including sharing some wonderful historical photos of Amman, Jerash and Petra after we had visited them - a real insight.

Advice for Potential Travellers

GO! Jordan is totally safe, in fact I felt safer in Jordan than I do in London. The people of Jordan need our support as tourists. Hope that Mikhled is your tour leader. Be prepared for large meals - the Jordanians like to feed people! Take loose comfortable clothing. Take some cat treats - there are dozens of friendly cats. Mind the salt in your eyes in the Dead Sea.

Mont Blanc Highlights Sept 28 2024

I recently returned from an unforgettable hiking trip with Exodus, exploring the breathtaking Mont Blanc highlights, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived in Chamonix, we were enveloped by the stunning beauty of the Alps. Our chalet was a true gem, offering incredible views of Mont Blanc that made every morning feel magical.

Chamonix itself is a vibrant hub, bursting with life, charming shops, and delicious eateries. Even though we experienced a couple of cloudy and rainy days, the weather didn’t dampen our spirits or our hikes. In fact, the dramatic skies only added to the allure of the landscape, enhancing the beauty of each trail we traversed.

A standout moment of the trip was our free day when we took the Aiguille du Midi cable car to the summit of Mont Blanc. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking, a highlight that I will cherish forever.

Our guide, Jeffry, was exceptionally professional and organized, making sure that everything ran smoothly throughout our adventure. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the region really brought the experience to life. Additionally, we were so well cared for by our chalet hosts, Tom and Sol, who made our stay comfortable and welcoming. Their hospitality truly made us feel at home.

Overall, this hiking trip was a perfect blend of adventure, breathtaking scenery, and wonderful company. I can’t wait for my next adventure with Exodus!

We recently returned from an unforgettable hiking trip with Exodus, exploring the breathtaking Mont Blanc area. From the moment we arrived in Chamonix, we were surrounded by the stunning views of the Alps. The room in our Chalet directly faced Mont Blanc, making the morning views picturesque.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Overall, this hiking trip was a perfect blend of adventure, breathtaking scenery, and good company.

Dramatic Dolomites

Wow…we have done years of hiking and climbing in mountains all over the world and the Dolomites do not disappoint . The geology and WWI history make the mountains very unique. Add in the charm of walking through green pastures with the sounds of cow bells and church bells, and you have quite the scene. Be ready for some good elevation gains and not a lot of switchbacks. The strudel and coffee stops at the Refugios help fuel the hikes. Hotel Adler is a great base camp. Spacious rooms and equipment storage with boot dryers plus old world charm. I wish I could say good things about the dinners. The billed Tyrolean special dinner was all fish (?). The vegetarian offerings were sad. The pasta was hard as was the risotto, and when I mentioned it to the waiter I was told dismissively it was “al dente”. The breakfast was delish and varied.

Most Inspirational Moment

The circuit around Tre Time was worth the price of the trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Andrea was super capable and personable. We felt he was a bit of an introvert and almost uneasy talking to a group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The hikes are rated 3, but they are not easy! Be in shape for some elevation. Mid September was 10 degrees below normal temps and there was new snow a few days before we arrived. (The snow was gorgeous on the peaks) Bring plenty of layers. I used hand warmers on every hike.

Cinque Terre

My walking review is slightly truncated because of an Achilles injury ( this was our third week of walking). Our guide Michelle was wonderful. He did a great job of shifting the schedule due to rainy weather. He provided lots of historical and cultural information along the way. He did a great job of handling the folks that were not experienced hikers. Please pay attention to the hike ratings on this trip. A 3 rating is not easy! If you are not comfortable on rocky terrain or slight exposure this is not your trip. Moneglia is a delightful base village. Very low key and not overrun with tour groups. However, even in October the 5 villages got packed, but fortunately we spent one day there. Even though I spent a couple days with my foot on ice it was an enjoyable trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Michelle is great. Enthusiastic and informative. He truly loves sharing his country with others.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a trip for strong hikers. The trails are straight up and straight down. Lots of stairs in places and some exposure with rocky sections.

Mountains and fun memories

A tour that covers a lot of the south of Tirana. Lovely, mountain scenery, some delightful towns, (some not so pretty). The days were full and varied, we learnt about Albania’s history, met welcoming locals and swam in the warm Ionian sea. And we ate Very well! Great food for veggies.

Most Inspirational Moment

Berat was delightful and the hotel, particularly my room, in Gjirokaster was enchanting. Loved swimming in the sea. The parfait in Berat... yum!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Edjon was brilliant. He is a natural group leader. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Albania, always happy and smiling. He made the trip most enjoyable with fun filled days, adding additional spots for us to enjoy. And Medi, The Best Driver! We did some hair-raising drives, but we were in the safest hands with Medi. Along with Edjon, they brought much fun and laughter, joined us every evening for dinner and dancing. Their bond and laughter made it such a fun trip. We were very lucky to have them.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's getting popular, best visit now before it gets busier and buildings go up. It's easy to change money in the bigger towns.

Highlights of Morocco

Great trip

Most Inspirational Moment

Sunrise and sunset in the desert

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very good

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don’t over estimate their ability .

Did I Mention the Stairs?

A great way to visit the beauty of Amalfi without the huge crowds. Staying in Bomerano and hiking each day was a great alternative to a through hike with the associated heavy pack. Chance to set you own challenges on free day. Down the stairs, and up!

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting back after a monumental hike down to a nearby village , then the ascent through the village’s hundreds of stairs, back to the Path of the Gods.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very knowledgeable about flora and fauna, geography, history and quick witted, capable, competent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You’ll need to be hill fit. If you are, it will be the time of your life.

Lovely landscapes, vibrant towns and hidden gems

An ideal trip for those looking to get off the beaten track and learn about this country’s interesting and long history first hand, and enjoy its food.

Most Inspirational Moment

Village of Lin with its ancient mosaic and stunning views over Lake Ohrid.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our tour leader (Ed) was great and he enhanced the trip with additional visits and food/drink tastings. Medi is probably the best driver we’ve ever had (in 30 years of group travel). He was a safe and thoughtful driver and great fun, joining in with almost all our activities.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You don’t need walking boots for this trip – good trainers are enough.

Beautiful Albania

Albania is a beautiful country, complete with incredible mountain scenery, beautiful cities, mountainous towns, and stunning seascapes. This trip enabled me to see a lot of Albania, learn about its history, and sample its delicious food. Though it was pretty tiring changing hotels almost every day, that was a price worth paying to discover so much of this magical country.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved looking at the breathtaking scenery from the window of our mini-bus. I ordinarily don't like buses, but Diu, our bus driver was an incredible driver, who often stopped to buy us fruit on roadside, and made sure we were all enjoying our trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was kind and knowledgeable, though I wish he had spent some time on the bus teaching us an occasional Albanian word, asking us how we were doing, etc. For those interested in archaeology, because he is an archaeologist, our group leader supplied information at several archaeological sites.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You will see a lot on this trip, but changing hotels almost daily can be exhausting. Accommodations were almost all very adequate.

Once in a lifetime experience

This is the most incredible experience, we travelled in September 2024 and the more we look back and remember it, the more unbelievable it feels. We wild camped in tents in the African savanna!
This isn’t a holiday. It’s an adventure.
I can’t imagine a better way to travel on safari. We saw everything we wanted to, and learnt a lot about the animals, birds, and environment. Highlights included the mokoro through the delta, a large pack of painted dogs in Savuti, and leopards in Savuti and Moremi. When you are wild camping you are in the middle of the parks and reserves so you are the first group in the action. This safari trip will be very hard to beat as one of our best ever travel experiences.

Most Inspirational Moment

It's so hard to pick one. Everyday had a new and different experience. The thrill of morning game drive in Savuti will be hard to beat. Driving with determination and excitement to the next sighting had us holding on to the vehicle in anticipation!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Big Friendly Brian made this trip for us. His enthusiasm and experience makes for the best wildlife experience. Safari is about being in the right place, at the right time. And Brian puts you right there. He also made us feel very safe during the wild camps with clear instruction and daily briefings. We were also supported by the excellent Mike, Timoth, and Moreti who drove the support vehicle, set up camp, and cooked amazing food. The full service camping, having tents set up and ready for us in camp, was great. And we always had a friendly wave and warm welcome into camp each day.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for long bumpy drives, permanently dirty dusty feet, warm drinking water, and early mornings. But it's all completely worth it! We used our binoculars everyday. Bring a day pack that can fit under a car seat in front of you otherwise it can be cramped. You have the chance to buy beers along the way for evening in camp, but would also recommend some soft drinks and snacks to help the drives go past. Bring podcasts and headphones, or a book, for the long drives. Be sure to try the bush shower, cooling and amazing views at the same time. Tips in the Okavango are 30 USD per person. There's opportunity to change USD to Pula which can be useful for tips or crafts. Most places accept credit card. We travelled in September and it was warm. We had our sleeping bags with us, but most nights just used a thinner liner. It's hard to know how many clothes to pack but we only wore about half what we took. So really think about what you will feasibly wear. Best kit was a thin, quick drying shirt you could rinse out in camp.
