More than tigers.

A great trip, particularly for ‘India virgins’ and anyone who wants a variety of wildlife. Our tour leader Krishna was passionate, considerate and knowledgeable. It was good to be treated more as guests than tourists. Two warnings with this trip. a) It is incredibly dusty in the parks so those with respiratory issues may want to take this into consideration. b) It took 6 and a half game drives before we saw a tiger {thats over 23 hours off-roading in jeeps) but well worth it. So be prepared to watch the other wildlife. However we had 12 tiger sightings by the time we finished! Very busy trip, well organised with super food throughout. A vegetarians delight. (No-one in the group suffered any illness throughout the trip). The Holi festival to finish was colourful in many ways and a fantastic way to finish. Highly recommended.

Seeing our first tiger emerge out of the grass or it was the tiger that came out of the woods right next to our parked jeep or it was the visit to the red fort or it was the invite to join the community for the Holi festival or ... this is an impossible question to answer

Having done several Exodus tours I have to say Krishna was the top man. Extremely thoughtful, willing to impart information, great communicator and organiser, as well a good guide in the field. And a sense of fun.

Cambodia

This was a great trip and Bun, trip leader, was very good. Cambodia is blossoming as a travel destination following years of war and turmoil, they are not yet really geared up to separate the tourist from the $ which is really refreshing. Give it a few years and I’m sure it will be different!

The hotels are of a much higher standard than I expected including charging facilities in hotel foyers. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the condition and cleanliness of the toilets both in the hotel and outside in bars etc.

Food is fantastic as well.

Bring sound shoes as there is a lot of climbing at the temples and when you go to the Bat Cave, make sure to take the extra bus up to the Killing Cave, they don’t focus on the cave but there are beautiful temples and things up there.

Snowshoeing in the Dolomites

We have just returned from the Snowshoeing holiday In the Dolimites. We had not been snowshoeing before , others in the party had. Our guide Sara ,was fantastic at bringing the first timers and the experienced along at a pace that fitted both. She was amazing at helping individuals, encouragement and delivered everyday on a challenging walk with a spectacular visual reward at the end and “feel good” personal achievement factor.
We felt Sara was super woman, she looked after our welfare and wellbeing constantly and her attention to detail and our safety was amazing.
The hotel for this trip was also great. Small and very friendly with great food and facilities to relax with after the days physical challenges. Particularly special beds! Essential at the end of an exercise filled day.
We thoroughly enjoyed the week.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Sara, our guide, did an excellent job of working out our fitness levels and choosing the walks appropriately . We did feel there were people in the group fitter than us, but Sara made it possible to achieve the same walk at our own pace with seemingly no physical effort on her part guiding from the front and encouraging at the back! We came home with a huge sense of achievement . I do think to really enjoy this holiday you should feel comfortable with eight- ten mile walk. But, I think each group is well assessed for its potential and walks chosen accordingly. Obviously the further you walk the more you gain from the fantastic scenery . If you are looking for a strol in the park , maybe this one is not for you.

Sierra de Aitana Trek

The trip gave a great opportunity to see almond blossom in full bloom . The leader has years of experience and rearranged the walks according to changes in the weather for us to see the area at its best . It was great to take in the scenery on foot , and in good company . With my special dietary requirements , I could not have asked for more from the gluten free meals and snacks provided . The family run hotel was very welcoming.

Seeing colours and hues of the valleys shift from pink to purples with changes from almond to olive groves as we walked amongst orange rocky mountainsides .

Our leader was involved in mapping the area , and creating the paths we walked along . He researched the routes used by local people with them , His knowledge and abilities are extraordinary , He stops to talk about the history and the places , and shares this with us . He is excellent and I felt very safe walking in what can be fairly challenging conditions with him leading..

Advice for Potential Travellers

Yes, go on this trip if you like being outdoors learning about the landscape and people and are used to walking alot , especially up and downhill

Varied activities highlighting the best of both North and South Vietnam plus Angkor, Cambodia.

Trip met my expectations in terms of seeing and experiencing the best of both countries. Trip made special by our young and enthusiastic guide Nhi. She had certainly studied well enabling her to express great knowledge in places visited. Lovely engaging personality and great organisation of both listed events and evening eating experiences. As always good company among the group too helped make this trip memorable.

Visiting the Cu Chi war tunnels and seeing how mankind can ingeniously overcome threats to their existence.

As already said - Nhi by far the best leader yet on our third Exodus trip. The Cambodian tour leader was very knowledgable too but difficult to engage with all group individuals as only with us for two days.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for high humidity and temperatures in Angkor as Touring Angkor Wat is lengthy and involves climbing some steep and uneven steps not made easy by the high visitor volumes.

Discovering Namibia

If you haven’t been to Namibia and you like wildlife and stunning landscapes – book now!
Our trip was absolutely amazing, and so much more varied than I thought it would be.
I must thank our two local guides on the trip, as without them we would not have seen half the wonders we did. They were knowledgeable, helpful and unfailingly cheerful, which made our visit so much more enjoyable.

There were so many highlights it is difficult to single out any one element, but I suppose our stay in Etosha National Park must rank with any wildlife experience I have ever had. Watching lions mate whilst springbok leapt in the background, being charged by an angry bull elephant, and seeing a family of cheetah stalk their prey, will stay in my memory for ever.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We booked a flight over the Skeleton Coast when we were staying in Swakopmund and this was a wonderful way to see the landscape from a different perspective. I would mention however that if you are my height or taller (I am 1m 80), then the leg room on the plane is not generous and you are in the air for over two hours. Also, I would recommend taking a small compact camera with a good zoom, as my DSLR with a bulky zoom lens was much too cumbersome.

A holiday full of variety and interest

This holiday does not show you everything but it does give you a true flavour of the region. Vietnam is such a big country we were happy to choose this holiday as the internal flights cuts down the travelling time so that you can enjoy even more activities in the time. Everything was well organised with variety to suit all interests. Our Guide was well informed and completely professional with a lovely friendly nature. She made the holiday even better for us all. Accommodation was good too.This is our third trip with Exodus and the standards are still high. We were lucky with the weather too as we on ly had a few drops of rain on one day.

There was so many - each day brought a different experience. Halong Bay was incredible. The night stay on the river boat was super - food excellent. All the people involved did their very best to make our holiday special and they succeeded. I loved the cooking class too. I have the recipes to try at home.

Thoughts on Group Leader

As I said before, Nhi was superb. She gave us all the information needed and more. Nhi showed a great amount of support to everyone on the trip and we all valued her knowledge. Nhi was friendly and very professional at all times. We could tell that wherever we went she was well thought of by others too. She phoned ahead and arranged activities, pick ups, meals and nights out with perfection.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a leisurely trip but there is a bit of walking and light climbing - with steps involved, when you combine this with heat - it can be more physical than expected. However there is always an option not to do it all. At Hoi An there is a great opportunity to have your clothes laundered and this could help with amount of luggage. We went late Feb early March and it wasn't as cold up in Hanoi as expected. We could have got away with lighter clothing, I would reccommend having layers. Our Doctor told us to take anti malaria tablets with us but we were never bitten in Vietnam or Cambodia. Of course you need to listen to advice and make that choice yourself.

Land of the Tiger

A great mix of nature, tigers, birds and culture led by a No.1 Guide

Most Inspirational Moment

Just 4 in a jeep we are driving through the forest when - WOW - a tiger comes through the bush. Our driver, guide, us AND the tiger are surprised! We were SO close - a really precious moment just between the few of us, until he gently turned away and crossed the road. Such beauty and such power. But we were lucky - many ,more special moments. Drawn into a small local community to celebrate the festival of light; the tiger with her kill of barahsingha; the glorious stags of sambar; the marsh deer; the plain of vultures drying out; the efforts of our guide, the sun rises and sun sets; learning how jiggery is made - and tasting it!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was one of the best - in fact the best I've ever had. Knowledgeable, fun, experienced, calm in emergencies - and he went that extra mile - or marathon! He had a birthday cake driven 70 km for one of our group; he got up at 3am to get tickets for others - a star!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

I took a hot water bottle for the nights and a mini hot water bottle to put up my jumper for those hours 6-9 a.m. in the jeep. Enjoy Indian food - such a range of flavours and fresh local food. Put oil on your face if you go to the festival of light - or the dyes wear off slowly!!
