An Incredible Holiday

This was an amazing trip, and I cannot wait to revisit Nepal. The scenery was stunning, reaching Everest Base Camp was awe-inspiring, and Exodus took care of all of the organisation. The whole trip was well organised, and everything ran smoothly thanks to the work of Exodus and our leader and assistant staff.

I had never done anything like this before, and so to anyone who is currently wondering if they would be able to do it – if you have a good level of fitness, enjoy walking and are determined – go for it, you will not regret it.

Most Inspirational Moment

Finally reaching Everest Base Camp was a truly incredible moment. The scenery in the Himalayas was always breathtaking as well.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader, Pasang Bomjan, was excellent. He provided help and advice when I suffered from altitude sickness, and I was always confident in his ability to lead the group safely and competently.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do not underestimate the altitude. However, if you follow your leader's advice - ascend slowly, drink lots of water, keep eating even if you have no appetite - you will be able to complete the trek. The route was surprisingly dusty, so I recommend bringing a buff/scarf to cover your mouth.

Dubrovnik & the Dalmation Coast

A lovely varied holiday, combining walking , sight seeing & the history of Croatia.

Most Inspirational Moment

The wonderful different views from various places were all inspirational.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader Ivan was brilliant, he was very attentive, full of information & nothing was too much trouble, he explained thoroughly what would be happening next on the tour & kept an eye on everyone.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The first walk was harder than I had envisaged but was well worth it for the amazing view from the top.

Western Explorer depart 30 April

Overall an excellent trip. There are a couple of full days driving but this is necessary to cover the number of locations in the itinery

Most Inspirational Moment

The waterfalls in Yosemite

Advice for Potential Travellers

Before booking, consider travelling a couple of days early so you have time to explore San Fransisco - my flight arrived mid afternoon which left no time for that. Similarly, as there is not an overnight stay in Las Vegas at the end, you may want to consider staying on as my departure flight left only a couple of hours mid afternoon in the city.

Tropical Delights

This was a fantastic trip and a great way to discover the delights of Costa Rica. From the lush tropical rainforests of the Caribbean coast to the misty cloud forests to the fascinating pacific coast. A truly memorable trip

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably our zip lining experience in the cloud forest, which was just fantastic and something I will never forget, but we also loved the volcanic hot springs, and of course seeing sloths, monkeys, toucans, crocodiles, scarlet macaws, etc, etc...

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic. Knowledgeable on the flora and fauna and on Costa Rica generally and managed the tour to perfection.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The optional activities (zip lining and volcanic hot springs) are really worth doing and I would highly recommend them. Make sure you buy your souvenirs before you get to the airport, as the prices at the airport are more than double the price outside.

Sierra Nevada and Grenada.

The trip met all my expectations The walking was excellent and the company brilliant
Our leader was enthusistic, patient and extremely knowlegeable.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top of the path ---- every day!!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

As above Would recomment him to anyone as a guide and leader

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book early to gain entrance to the Alhamra--- if you really really want to go because its full, ie really full of tourists!!!!!

Walking in Tuscany

This is our 3rd walking & trekking trip with Exodus and what a fabulous trip it was. Staying in the beautiful family run Braccicorti Lodge, drinking their home made Grappa and chatting and laughing together as a group. We were 4 couples and 3 singles and everyone enjoyed each other’s company. Some were faster than others but our guide ensured we operated as a group. My husband would have liked another week sitting by the swimming pool.

Most Inspirational Moment

It is hard to pick out one inspirational moment but getting to the top of the hills each day felt great every time.

Sara Bull was absolutely fabulous. Her knowledge and passion for the local area was a joy to behold. She looked after us quite beautifully, making sure the walks were carefully paced, that we were properly equipped and topping up our energy levels with biscuits and sweeties she carried in her Mary Poppins bag. We would definitely look to be guided by her again and another couple were on their 3rd trip guided by Sara. I'm sure it was Sara that ensured the English passion for cups of tea was catered for in Braccicorti.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Read the trip notes carefully - this is Northern Tuscany and hilly.

Mrs

This was the first activity holiday I have ever been on. Our group consisted of ten female friends with an appointed guide for the week. The whole week went smoothly, we met each evening to discuss our next day’s itinerary so we were told what we needed to take, which was very helpful. All walks were well organised and the guide was very informative and he organised stop offs at wonderful little coffee-shops/restaurants with some fantastic views. Hotel Le Due Torri where we stayed was family run, the food was lovely and freshly prepared (included pizza and cookery demonstrations on two separate nights). The staff were friendly and helpful.

Most Inspirational Moment

All the organised walks were amazing, the coastal views were breath taking especially the "Walk of the Gods" On our day off, our guide organised a trip to Capri. What a beautiful island, not to be missed.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was brilliant. He liked us to be punctual which is a good thing, meant no hanging around. He organised everything right down to lunch breaks and comfort breaks. He was supportive of the slower members in our walking party and helped when any of us were struggling with pathways along cliff edges.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Come with an open mind.

Almafi Coast April 8th-15th

AN amazing holiday lots of lovely views and great company

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking along the crater of Mt Vesuvius, I was so glad Albert convinced me to walk around, its not as narrow as people may think,

Thoughts on Group Leader

Albert was an amazing tour leader, he looked after us really really well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take some walking poles.

Ann Fisher

I knew about the long coach journeys and early starts – but I did find the travel more tiring than I expected .

Most Inspirational Moment

Flying over the Nazca Lines was amazing Also going to the floating reed islands on lake Titicaca and watching The Condors flying in the Colca Canyon

Thoughts on Group Leader

Diana was an excellent tour leader- first aider, kitchen assistant - she did everything she could to make the trip go smoothly

Advice for Potential Travellers

Really think if the really long and frequent travel days are right for you

Cycling in Albania

What a fantastic trip! Superb cycling on quiet, scenic roads in beautiful Albania. Three of the days are quite challenging, but none the worse for it.

Most Inspirational Moment

The hotels and guest houses are all in great locations - waking up in the mountains in Benje and looking forward to another (easier) day of great cycling, good food and sunshine.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Dhimi was good fun with a great sense of humour. The whole trip was very well organised and well thought out. We all contributed towards a kitty at the start which worked really well. At every coffee stop Dhimi would organise drinks and snacks, which meant we could sit down straight away and still get served quickly, which can be challenging in a group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Dhimi took us to a lovely restaurant in Tirana after meeting us at the airport, so don't worry about food on the flight or for the transfer. It's worth mentioning that you'll see a few goat herders on the trip and some of them have dogs that are fond of cyclists. If you go faster, they go faster - the trick is to stop pedalling and slow down and they soon lose interest.
