Puglia

An interesting and vey varied trip. Sara our group leader was delightful and efficient.
It was a busy itinerary, very enjoyable, maybe not quite as leisurely as one may have thought it would be.!

Most Inspirational Moment

Difficult,. The caverns were amazing, the olive producers ancient olive grove also. 2000 year old trees reminds one of how fragile and small we are.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sara was lovely, good fun and efficient

Advice for Potential Travellers

Look upon the trip as slightly more full on than possibily required, but vey enjoyable nonetheless

One of the best cycling trips!

This is our 8th cycling trip with Exodus and one of the best. It has it all- great cycling on mainly quiet roads, but as others have said it would be best to do some hills before travelling so you can enjoy it. Wonderful scenery passing through lovely villages. Great food and wine – lets not forget the wine! I also enjoyed the coffee stops and gelato stops. Enough time was given to look around the places we passed through. Oh and great guides.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to single out one moment - but the view over Florence when we arrived was magical - seeing the Doumo dominate the city, the wonderful Tuscan scenery, Radu reminding me of the best gelato in town awaiting us at the top of the long climb back to Castellina! He was a great motivator.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Both Radu and Martin were excellent guides and great company. Radu was very knowledgable and gave lots of guidance and advice. Martin was great in support.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take insect repellent for day and night - a few of us got bitten quite a lot! I would say some of the days are more grade 3/4 .

Discover Sri Lanka

What an amazing experience from beginning to end and would recommend this to anyone wanting a well structured, well organised and extraordinarily interesting holiday. Hundreds of miles and lots of activities ranging from the cultural to the natural and all handled in the most professional way. Although it would take a long time to understand another country in depth, I got a sense of the way Sril Lanka ticks by the environment, the variety and the information provided by the tour leader.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many things to say - a bicycle ride through the countryside to small farming villages, visits to Buddhist and Hindu temples, Lions Rock

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent leader who put so much effort into ensuring everything went smoothly and who was fun and engaging at the same time as sharing his extensive knowledge of the history, geography, wildlife and culture of the country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a camera and open eyes!

Frisky lions!!!

Awesome trip – simply has to be done!

Most Inspirational Moment

Highlight for me has to be seeing some very 'frisky' lions who were resting with full tummies after a kill, and then out of the blue they were suddenly chased away by 4-5 charging trumpeting elephants, including an 'ikkle baby one!!! Like being on a live set of a nature program!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cuthbert (aka CB) and his sidekick Best were simply the best!!! Attentive at all times, very helpful, very polite and always there with a smile. Joined in with the group, ready for a laugh but were serious and very professional when circumstances demanded it.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You will be separated from your main luggage for the first 3 days so pack everything you'll need for those 3 days separately and before getting there as you will arrive in the dark. Use a bag you don't mind getting dirty and thrown about. I took a separate 40L backpack for this purpose. Also take a small dry bag to keep close to hand while canoeing for things like suncream, camera bits and bobs as your '3 day' bag will be tied up and not easily accessible while you are canoeing.

Walking in Puglia & Matera

We had a great trip although it is not the most scenic of locations. The food was excellent and plentiful. The walks are mostly flat and very easy.

Most Inspirational Moment

The initial walk through the canyon was very enjoyable. the friendliness of the locals was excellent and we especially enjoyed an evening BBQ in the living room of a local farm.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Giuseppe was an excellent leader and was kind, helpful and caring. Being Italian he didn't always understand our British humour but roared with laughter when we explained the jokes!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for large meals.

Lovely Region

We really enjoyed this walking holiday.

Most Inspirational Moment

The views from the hills and visiting Venice.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do take the time to go to Venice. You can easily extend the trip and go before or after the holiday or go to Venice on your free day.

Walking in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Great trip with outstanding hiking and informative city visits. Leader was exceptional with excellent support staff. An authentic and exhilarating hiking and cultural experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the peak of Mt. Magic.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Samer was a knowledgeable, professional and caring leader. His knowledge of the mountains was vast and love of Bosnia was inspirational. It was a pleasure and an honor to participate with him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for changing weather conditions that are likely to occur in the mountains.

Stroll around some Greek islands

A great Introduction to activity holidays as the walking was not hard and the scenery was stunning. Lots of travel but a great way to get a feel for 3 different islands. Will treasure the memory of glorious sunsets whilst sipping cocktails beachside for a long time.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting the Greek "Pompeii" on santorini. Stunning.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cecile was a great leader, organised everything very well and was the right mix of being part of the group and leaving the group to itself.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack light!

Walking in Sardinia

Dorgali is a lovely small Italian town, very friendly, as is the family-run Hotel S’Adde. Great walking country, with mountains, excellent views, and ancient sites of the Nuraghi people.

Most Inspirational Moment

Funnily enough, for me it was the view when we climbed to the top of the mountain above Dorgali, with clear views to the sea, and a long way inland too. Tiscali was a special site in its own way, but the first climb was the most rewarding.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eric Woolley is a seasoned veteran of the outdoors, and the group was very safe in his hands. The first day's walking, he pushed us a bit, in order to get the measure of us, all the better to time the rest of the week's walks, which were timed almost perfectly. One slight criticism; Eric's Italian seemed somewhat scanty, but this didn't affect the trip at all, since one of our group was of Italian extraction, and was thus able to translate when having more complex conversations, and the rest of the time, the group had enough Italian to get by. Most of the hotel staff spoke English.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to sample some excellent wines; the hotel "house red" was quite acceptable, and the local Cantonau Classico and Reserve were delicious. Not quite so sure about the local myrtle-based aperitif, "Mirto", though! Being a vegetarian on southern european trips can be difficult at times, and I found myself being offered fish at least twice - luckily, I'm flexible, but others might not be so.

Chianti walking & wine

A great holiday, Liz was fab. Be prepared for some serious walking if your not a regular walker up & down hills on rough ground. All in all a great time with a great group of people & lovely accommodation. Would definitely recommend.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved Siena & Sarah our guide was great.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very organised & ever attentive to everyone's needs

Advice for Potential Travellers

Practice walking on rough ground with ascents & descents
