Discover Sri Lanka

Very well organised from initial booking then throughout the tour including departure. A very varied itinerary. Comfortable travel and a very knowledgeable leader with great support from his team.

Most Inspirational Moment

Dambulla caves, both Safaris, it was hard to identify highlights as it was all so enjoyable. The vast amount of animal and bird life on the island, company of the group and the knowledge and personality of our leader.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Danu was so organised without being rigid. He was friendly and obliging and generous with his time with our group. His knowledge of his country was incredible and he is obviously very proud to be Sri Lankan. His knowledge of the history and especially its bird life was amazing. He imparted this knowledge by telling us stories in instalments and we were always eager to hear the next one. Danu tirelessly answered all our questions and if on the odd occasion he didn't know the answer he would find out for us. Nothing was too much trouble, he worked very hard throughout the trip and was great fun to be with.

Discover South Africa's Garden Route

Very well organised and varied, interesting itinerary. The guide, Malik, was exceptional. Energetic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He was always looking out for the group, giving us suggestions and choices and adapting things as necessary. His colleague, Nicole, was a great enhancement to the group; Also great fun, helpful and a mine of information, especially about the wildlife.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were so many it's hard to specify. The scenery around the Cape and coastal regions along the Garden Route, was spectacular. The food was very good throughout. The De Opstal Country Lodge was particularly memorable for it's welcome, style and setting and the meerkats were an absolute delight!

We had complete confidence in him throughout the trip. He really looked after us all.

Discover Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a Stunningly beautiful island. The tour Guide Dhanushka was beyond excellent in every way. The itinerary is varied and ran very smoothly throughout. Various accommodations all more than satisfactory. This tour It ticked all my boxes. .

It was all wonderfully memorable and the extra activity options added to the experience.

Danu was excellent in every way. Always helpful, appropriate excellently organised and hugely informative and fun to be with. He was exceptional in every way.

Transylvania Winter Walk & Snowshoe

It was the perfect winter holiday for a non-skier with stunning landscapes, snow, lovely walks, good company, a friendly, family run guesthouse providing excellent food and home made plum brandy, plus bears and wolves and Dracula’s castle.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking through the forest and mountains in snow, tracking wolf prints, was magical. Bran castle was great fun. We bought various gothic accessories with us and took loads of daft photos

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tomas was very well organized and knowledgeable about the region and the history of Transylvania. He chatted to everybody in the group and was helpful with hiking gear and with anyone who needed assistance.

Well planned trip with guide at every stage. Packed with activity.

Most Inspirational Moment

The treasures of Tutankhamen at the museum, the pyramids, the Valley of the Kings, the felucca ride, the Philae temple with the story of its move.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Noha was an absolute joy as a leader. She had a very pleasant manner, she was very knowledgeable which helped us to understand what we saw, she engaged socially with the whole group and gave good advice.

Potentially great trip let down by unroadworthy bike

Bike: Rear caliper loose, rear tyre coming off rim, excessive play in headset, poor brakes as calipers not aligned with discs. Bike replaced after a couple of days but they sent the wrong size. Leader was at best average. I cycled in Kerala two years age with different company, good Bike, brilliant leader. Hence 2 stars.

Homestay and Backwater trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Average, made poor decisions about eating places. Communication poor, not using WhatsApp to remind us of important timings , like diner, breakfast and departure. Didn't even set up a WhatsApp group, so I did.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Check your bike thoroughly or get someone with bike knowledge and refuse to get on it until all faults are rectified to your satisfaction. Pot luck with leaders. I walked out of our first night dinner in Varkala without sitting down. Next daythe others said they should have followed me.

We’re sorry to read that Charles felt this way about his Cycle the Coast of Kerala trip, and we appreciate him taking the time to share such detailed feedback. Exodus places great importance on the condition and safety of all bicycles used on our cycling itineraries, and we have stringent checks in place before every departure. Feedback from other members of this group indicates that the majority of bikes were generally in good condition overall; however, the comments Charles raises about his bike are not acceptable and this is being followed up with our local team. We fully understand how frustrating it must have been for Charles to begin his holiday with an unroadworthy bike, and we’re glad a replacement was provided, even if the sizing wasn’t perfect. One of our UK team was in touch with Charles during the trip and we would have been happy to organise a different replacement bike if he had requested at the time.

 

We were also sorry to learn that Charles was disappointed with his tour leader. We’re proud to have a strong team in Kerala who usually receive excellent feedback for their organisation, communication, and local knowledge, so it’s disappointing to hear this wasn’t reflected on this occasion. His comments regarding communication, restaurant decisions, and group coordination have been noted and will be shared our local manager.

 

It’s encouraging that Charles still enjoyed aspects of the trip, particularly the homestay and backwater experience, which are often highlights for many travellers. We appreciate him offering advice to future customers, though we feel that our ongoing equipment checks and leader development mean guests can join this trip with confidence.

 

We’re grateful for Charles’s honest reflections and will use them to ensure we continue strengthening the experience for those travelling with us in the future.

Cycling the Lake District of Chile & Argentina

Easy to book and well chsoen guiding businesses. The holiday is as described by Exodus and the accommodation and equipment good.

Most Inspirational Moment

Riding on the gravel on an electric bike and the wonderful countryside. Some spectacularly situated hotels. We also had warm sunny weather every day!

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was always pleasant and helpful. He was sociable with the group and he even managed to find an electric bike for a member of the group during the holiday.

Winter in the Baltics, Helsinki and Stockholm

The trip was very well organised – hotels, transportation, city walking tours, evening meals etc were all arranged perfectly. Our guide, Lukas, was brilliant and the smallish group of just 10 guests all got on together very well.

Most Inspirational Moment

Tallinn was possibly the most interesting city. We also enjoyed visiting the Museum of Occupation in Riga, one of our guide's recommendations. The visit to the chocolate factory was a lot more fun than people expected (bringing out the children in us!). And evening meals together (especially at restaurants serving local cuisine) were a great way to end the day.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lukas was a very helpful and thoughtful guide. He ensured that we knew all the details of times, meeting places etc; he kept us well informed about local history etc; and shared with us stories about himself and his family and life in the Baltic States. He was always very concerned for his group's safety and well being. His recommendations on places to eat, dishes to try and places to visit were first class. And he was open and friendly without being intrusive or dominating conversation.

Winter in the Baltics, Helsinki and Stockholm

Excellent guide and a very interesting tour with the right balance of organised guided city walks and free time to explore. The chocolate and marzipan activities were fun, too.

Great guide who went out of his way to ensure people were happy and able to participate. He had great local knowledge and if unsure asked google! ( eg footprints of animal in the snow!)
