Seriously impressive

What a trip – my 6th walking tour with Exodus and utterly blown away by the Challenge 5 hikes amongst the Alpi Apuane and Apennines ranges. This was an astonishing introduction to Tuscany! If you enjoy mountain walks and vast open views this could be your next trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The ridge walks overlooking the Tuscan/Liguarian coastline, spotting the variety of butterflies, beetles and wildflowers across the alpine meadows. Simply gorgeous.

Liz was an incredible guide. She is unstoppable in her drive, energy and commitment to everyone’s personal experience. She was resourceful, knowledgeable and expertly mountain skilled, but beyond that, Liz was beyond wonderful and took care of all our needs - including our washing !

Advice for Potential Travellers

Check the challenge level is suitable for your ability, the ridge hikes require some low key scrambling and there are a few exposed sections with impressive drops. You are on the mountains for long days with 1000m ascent /decent typically. So worth it if this is for you .

Fjords, Forests, and Forever Memories

This trip quickly became one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. Norway is breathtaking in photos, but nothing compares to standing among the fjords, mountains, and forests in person. Every destination on the itinerary had its own personality and charm, making the journey feel like several incredible trips woven into one.

I especially loved how immersive each stop was. Whether we were exploring Trondheim, learning to cook with local ingredients at Sveggvika Guesthouse, kayaking through the fjords, or enjoying the Viking dinner at Blåtind Boutique Hotel, every experience felt authentic and thoughtfully planned.

What made this trip even more special were the people we met along the way. The hotel staff, local hosts, and everyone who shared their traditions and stories made Norway feel incredibly welcoming. It never felt like we were just passing through, it felt like we were being invited to experience a small piece of everyday Norwegian life.

Most Inspirational Moment

Kayaking through the fjord and stopping to eat lunch from a local bakery that was packed in waterproof bags! The mountains rising around us, the quiet, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature, I felt like I was in a nature documentary.

Åshild truly made the trip exceptional. She was organized, knowledgeable, and always happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. More importantly, she made everyone feel comfortable and welcome from the very beginning. Her enthusiasm for Norway was contagious, and you could tell she genuinely wanted every person in our group to have the best possible experience. By the end of the trip, it felt like we were saying goodbye to a friend. I may have shed a few tears after our final farewell.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring layers, some days have more sun or wind, and the rain can change the temperature too! Comfortable walking shoes are essential, and hiking boots for hiking days. Say yes to the optional experiences, try the local foods (especially the brown cheese!), and take time to soak in the magic of Norway!

First time in Norway, definitely not the last!

This trip was a truly amazing and magical way to experience Norway. Each of the hotels provide their own unique locales and activities from the city, to the coast, to deep in the forests along the fjords.

The Britannia in Trondheim is right in the heart of the city and a brief walk from a variety of activities and shopping areas. The city feels alive and is full of wonderful and friendly people. The private tour of the Britannia felt like such a warm and exclusive moment of the trip, and the service at the hotel is top-notch!

Our second stop, the Sveggvika Guesthouse, was probably one of my favorites. The ferry ride to Kristiansund was full of breathtaking views, and our rooms at the guesthouse were beautiful. The owners are the kindest most genuine people you have ever met; they made the cooking class and beer tasting experiences feel like I was doing them with close friends I’d known for years. This is also where we got to experience swimming in the Fjord at our guide Åshild’s suggestion. It’s not on the itinerary but it is a MUST DO!

Our final stop at the Blåtind Boutique Hotel. The Viking dinner experience was probably my favorite meal of the entire trip. The locally sourced three-course meal was delicious, and was even paired with cider from our cider tasting earlier in the day! We met a variety of people on this leg of our trip, and being able to share in the joys of their professions was an unforgettable experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

Kayaking through the fjord and experiencing a sense of awe and scale that’s hard to describe with words and impossible to capture on camera. There’s truly so much beauty everywhere you look in Norway.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Åshild was amazing. She’s very down to earth and by the end of the trip felt like family. I forgot my jacket at our kayaking excursion towards the end of the trip, and she was able to contact them and worked with our shuttle driver to swing by to we could pick it up! Truly a life saver! Her suggestions were also amazing. Like going swimming in the fjord at Sveggvika or trying Brown Cheese at the breakfast buffet on our first morning.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack for different kinds of weather! The forecast can change pretty quickly so it is good to be prepared!

Delights of Sicily

Have fun cycling in the sun! Warm on the bike but you will be rewarded with great food, Sicilian culture and a lot of smiles/good company.

Most Inspirational Moment

Eating the best pizza I have ever tasted in my life!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Davide is passionate about his home region and loves to show it off at its best. A huge mention too for Sebi, our support driver, who communicated through smiles and kindness.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The cycling, whilst not being too long, was hilly at times and in the Sicilian heat could be draining, particularly on the hilly days. Consider an e-bike if you are unsure of your ability. It certainly assisted one or 2 in our group at times and a bit of cycling before coming out might assist. Cycle shoes and cleats helped me though beware, the heat destroyed my shoes and they are fit only for the bin. You'll be rewarded though with a real insight into Sicilian culture, some fabulous dining and stunning locations. I stopped over a couple of nights in Catania at the start and a night in Syracuse at the end, both of which were fun (especially the boat trip at the latter). Bus connections to both destinations are fairly easy and there is plenty of accommodation on Booking.com.

We really enjoyed our cycling trip in Sicily. Our guide Davide was brilliant.
Funny safe and extremely helpful he made the trip enjoyablefor us all. Organising evening meals transfer arrangements, lunches, and anything we required.. would strongly recommend to anyone considering this trip.
Sebby, our driver was also very good too

Most Inspirational Moment

Completing the big climb on top of the gorge and seeing the stunning view in Noto

Exceptional

Advice for Potential Travellers

Breakfast were a little limited so bringing a favourite cereal from home might be a winner . Vegetarian options were limited ..

Norway? Yes way!

I had such an awesome time on this trip with my fam! There was so much do do and see every day, and the trip was a perfect amount of activity as I was about 7 months recovered from a hip surgery. The fjords unesco site and the fish factory hotel were great highlights, as well as an authentic Viking dinner. And our guide Åshild was amazing, so good at keeping us organized and so fun to hang out with! Definitely a great way to experience Norway!

Most Inspirational Moment

jumping in the sea for a cold plunge and sauna , and then afterwards making a traditional Norwegian dinner, Bacalao, with our host Thomas! The setting was beautiful, with the rustic and wind swept fish factory hotel that was lapped by the waves of the sea. Ask for the “Crave Cave” local beer brewer!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Åshild was amazing! Had everything taken care of to the letter, and was so fun to hang around and joke with. She is also from a very cool and very remote part of Norway - ask her about it! It felt like hanging out with a long lost cousin.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack for all types of weather! The fjords are finicky and change from sunny to rainy on a dime! Be ready for rain!

Superlative trip to Portugal

Our seven day trip, covering Porto, the Douro wine region, the city of Lisbon and beautiful Obidos was a fabulous introduction to this beautiful country.
Transportation was with a comfortable small coach, which did not involve unduly long journeys between our numerous destinations. Hotel stays were comfortable and well located in the towns and villages visited.
Our group of nine people were superbly led, guided, supported (and educated!) by the wonderful Carla Costa, who played such an important role in our overall enjoyment.
One of the very best tours I have ever experienced.

Most Inspirational Moment

Obidos village

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just book it!

Beyond the bucket list!

I am keen on the natural world, fascinated by large carnivores – walking and sharing their world was the reason for booking. The spectacular mountain ranges are wild and empty of people. I enjoyed the fact that each day had a different emphasis and the lack of rest day enabled us to really make the most of our surroundings. Relaxing drinks on the patio, a feast of local delights and the company of likeminded, funny and interesting folk was a great end to each day.
I’d love to return in the autumn , but the wildflowers and butterflies were superb.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hmmm...reaching the Greek border-seeing more wild landscapes stretching into the distance, the empty trails and final push up to a high Rhodope peak, finding different sizes of bear tracks, the sheer abundance of nature which we just don't have in the UK....I can't choose!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Julian's vast experience takes this holiday to another level. Having the perspective of someone from the UK, but who has spent years immersed in the mountains is great. He focussed our walks and gave context to what he taught us. His beliefs and experience of animal/bear behaviour were invaluable...they challenge assumptions and make one gain perspective and understanding.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Poles are useful...as is a lunchbox!

Nice Trip

The excursions were fun. I enjoyed all the people in our group. Food was good and plentiful. The family that runs the hotel did not seem very friendly. The sister in-law of one of the brothers was very annoying, when she speaks she screams. The family always ate next us in the dining room, she was horrible, our guide even asked her to pipe down. The staff was fantastic. Nice grounds but barely a 3 star.

Most Inspirational Moment

The hike on The path of the Gods. Beautiful.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sevi was great a little brash, but I enjoyed him. Very helpful.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to do some walking, I went in the 2nd week in June it was warm. Beautiful trip overall.

A great trip to experience a remote unspoilt area

I thought this was an excellent week, with beautiful walks in spectacular scenery and almost no other hikers; fantastic flora and the excellent guide explained lots about the wildlife and history of the region which I hadn’t known much about. The local staff were very hospitable and it’s hard to see how the week could have been much better
