everest base camp trek 07/11/2018

hi just booked this trip would be great to hear from anyone on this trip

greg

Hi Greg - yes, I’m on this trip - so excited, if slightly nervous about the suspension bridges!! Are you on the group flight out of Heathrow?  Lucy

hi lucy

good to hear from you i havent given the suspension bridges much thought yet more concerned finishing it and having the right kit unfortunately there are not many mountains near where i live so im having to train mainly in the gym and walking the dog

i am on the group flight so it will be good to meet up have you done anything like this before

greg x

Ah I’m sure you’ll be fine :-) As long as you’ve got good shoes and socks, light-weight and quick-dry clothing so that you can layer up when it’s cold you’ll be set. I’ve done a couple of similar hikes before but this will be the highest altitude I’ve been to, so hopefully it’ll be ok...slow and steady all the way! Have you done any before?

hi lucy

where have you been before i havent done anything so adventurous so really nervous but excited at the same time hoping to get some time in hills in august not sure where yet

slow and steady sounds good especially the slow bit lol are you going solo or are you in a party

looks like our trip is full now so hopefully a good mixture of people

greg

I’ve been on trekking trips in Peru and China, both with Exodus. They were really well organised and great groups of people. Really looking forward to this one! Good luck with your training - plenty of time between now and Nov so I’m sure you’ll be fine :-)

hi lucy

im sure i'll be as i read on another forum post its only walking lol its more the walking into the unknown pardon the pun

Hi Greg and Lucy!

I too am on the trip, and the group flight from heathrow so it will be great to meet you both :)

Hi Greg & Lucy,

Almost 2 months to go - I’m getting so excited! Are you guys applying for your visa in advance or will you be getting it on arrival? Not sure what the easiest/quickest thing to do is! Lucy :-)

i think i was the last booking on this trek. 10 weeks yesterday not that im counting im probably going to get my visa in advance ive heard they have long queues. this is my first trek so am getting really excited and nervous at the same time. im going solo would be great if anyone has any tips for me kit ect.

Yes I’ve heard the same about the queue. Re. kit, lots of lightweight layers, hat, fleeces etc and good socks and shoes. A down jacket and a wind-proof jacket are good too! I’m erring on the side of it being quite cold! Lucy

Hey guys!

Yeah I was planning to get the visa before hand to cut the wait time!

Same with the kit too, apparently lots of layers is really helpful as the weather changes alot! Also I got told by a friend who went recently good qaulity sunglasses and poles are very useful, also so is a gilet as not as big as a putting on a jacket but offers slightly more protection that just a jumper!
