Went to Asia with a lot of plans

Hi there,

Is there anyone else involved or have experience on this trip?

I've noticed some ships offer parkas for the journey, but the Vavilov only seems to provide rubber boots. Does anyone know if you can hire parkas in Ushuaia? I do not want to be buying / travel in a large shelter that can never wear again.

Also - any advice re pictures - a long lens is needed, ie more than 300 mm mean?

Cheers

Million

I was on the Charter to Antarctica on the Vav and they have boots, wet pants and coats which can be hired on the ship or before you travel. I took my own waterproof jacket though as well.
If you are doing a photo, a 300mm or 400mm should be perfect. really depends what you use it for. I used a Canon Mk1 400mm Telezoom lens. Got some amazing pics with it. I also took my stock 55mm lens with me as well for just general shots of the landscape.
