anybody...

Hi -
Hi, my partner and myself are heading on this trip. Can't wait!!! Flying in from Australia See you there Denny and Helen

Aconcagua Trip -

Hi guys. I'm heading on this trip too. How's the training and kit gathering going? Have any of you made any decisions on the double-skinned boots - hire or buy and if so, what? Best wishes. Kev

hello all... -

excited and nervous here, as this will be like "my everest".

been training all year, so hopefully my chance of success will be above 50%!

i bought my double plastic boots, but i was lucky enough to get mine new from ebay, for just £160, so i can see why people often hire them (£280 in the shops).

happy training all.

daniel

Hello from Australia -

Hi there great to see there are others doing the trip.  As I mentioned both Helen & I are excited about this.

We have sourced boots called 'Scarpa' boots we are buying them new from Australia for about AU$600, and we can also see why people hire them for sure.  As to the other stuff we need to take yes it has been a challange due to the Australian Summer it is a little hard to get some stuff ie sleeping bags but I'm sure we will have it all together by the time we depart.  Just hope when we arrive we don't get told our kit isn't up to standard!

We have been training for the trip and hope that we will also be ready for it, but we will all help one another I'm sure so that we can all do well.

All the best.

Denny & Helen.

boots -

i have scarpa vega's. i'm told they'll be fine. if you're unsure about any of your kit, simply contact exodus, they've  been really helpful to me.

has anyone done anything like this before?

Hi Guys -

Hi guys - still need to sort out boots, but hopefully will be getting some this weekend (not sure which yet)! The other bits and bobs, I'll either buy, borrow or steal. Have been getting up on the South Downs for some training but probably need to get more close and personal with my trekking poles which haven't seen much action for a few years. Also need to find the time to get out more on the hills over the remaining weeks - don't want to slow you down too much!! I've done a few trips, but nothing as high as this one. Killi years ago, a few treks in Nepal and some adventures in the Alps. How about you guys? Looking forward to meeting you all in February. Best wishes

Kev

Hi -
Thanks Daniel, we got the Vega's too good to hear they are ok. We've done EBC and Gokyo lakes in Nepal last year along with cycling and things, reckon this is going to be great challenge. See you all in 6 weeks!!!! Denny and Helen

well it seems we all have -

well it seems we all have similar experience. looking forward to the challenge, but come the trip, when i'm cold and tired, i'll disguise my joy with a miserable face!

happy holidays.

Getting Closer -

Hi Guys,

How have you gone with getting all your kit together and last miniute training? Over here in Adelaide where we live we've had weather from hell - hot, hot & more hot so testing the winter clothing has had some challenges.

Look forward to catching up very soon

Denny & Helen

Getting closer indeed -

Hello there,

I will be joining you guys too from London and am looking to buy my kit by the weekend. Have done some training by walking over the past few months and done a few treks here and there including EBC, Annapurna BC, and some other trakking in Nepal. Will let you know how I get on with the kit. Excited and cannot wait. See you all.

Hi there -
Tic toc tic toc.... getting excited... got all the kit I think now... can't wait. Did a training for the use of crampons and ice axe in Scotland and climbed up ben nevis in bad weather! The company I did it with was excellent. Mike was a great guide and teacher... I will definitely go back for some climbing lessions http://www.abacusmountaineering.com/

get you... -

all prepared...HA!

i'm getting more nervous, but it's still ages away...still NINE whole days!!!

see you all next month.

hi there -

Would love to say we have tried all our kit outdoors, but the weather here has been in the mid to high 30's!!! so crampons have been tried on grassy slopes sans ice and snow :-)

see you all soon

Denny and Helen
