Trip - CFA - FINNISH WILDERNESS WEEK, Departure Date - Sunday 10th February 2013

Am booked on this one, looking forward to it.

But will we get the Norther Lights?!

Looking forward to it -

Looking forward to it too!

And I need to get started with organizing my gear for the trip, don't think my light summer walking boots will do...

Seven nights out in the wilderness should give us a fair chance to see the lights. And if they don't show up then we'll just have to have even more fun doing everything else!

Far from the madding crowd. -

I do like the sun, but why waste all that snow? Chose this trip (Iceland and another company's Finnish week was fully booked) especially for the wilderness and Northern Lights.

Walking in a Winter wonderland -

Really looking forward to meeting you on the trip. Bit of a change from our last Exodus trip up Mount Toubkal in Sept 2012 - although we had snow too then!

northern lights -

My friend went on a snowshoeing trip last year at this location and her photos of the area were truly magical. The snow bound trees would have made a stylish christmas card.

I hope that people are up for a wander around in the afternoons as I would really like to take full advantage of the location and the experience.

I shall look out for the usual exodus luggage labels in the airport and hope to say hello to people on the way out. I am looking forward to meeting you all

Sue

Finnland What to take? -

Has anyone been before? or to something similar?

What were the most useful/best things especially in terms of clothing and footwear?

Thanks

Photos below zero -

See Exodus trip notes - clothing is provided.

If you're taking your camera, check out this site (but don't let it put you off) for some useful tips. Google 'northern lights photography' and you'll get some other good sites.

Re what to take -

Hi

As well as the trip notes, the video here shows one of the Basecamp Oulanka staff demonstrating the kit : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qm-nK8PeLI

So when we're not actually out in the snow, I guess we'll just need a couple of changes of clothes for our downtime back at basecamp. Should leave plenty of room in the case for books etc!

Hi all, thanks for replying, -
Hi all, thanks for replying, look forward to meeting you all in a few weeks. The clothing video is a good insight, so thanks for that. I'm definitely up for some afternoon exploring, and lots of photography, sounds like a good idea to pack plenty of books though! just back from a weekends camping in the lakes, but it really wasn't that cold or snowy to prep for where we're heading!
