Picos de Europa or Levada, Madeira

Hi Am thinking of going on one of these and wonder if anyone is going or has been on either of these.  Am 1st time sole traveller (f) and can't decide which one to go on.  Would welcome any comments on the above or just generally about their experience with exodux.

Thanks

I did this holiday in OCT12 and like you was a first time solo traveller. Remember sitting at Stansted airport very early on the Saturday morning wondering what I was doing. Should not have worried - had a great time but like any group holiday much depends on who is on the holiday. I was given a tip by a fellow traveller - ring Exodus first and find out how many people are already booked on the holiday - if less than 6, give it a miss as in a small group if you don't bond it can be a long week as you are together nearly 24/7. I was lucky - great bunch of people. Enjoyed it so much that have just booked my 5th Exodus holiday as did 2 in 2013 and plan to do to in 2014. At the end of the day you only get out of the holiday what you put into it. Hope this helps.

Hello

We did the Picos trip three years ago, our first Exodus Trip. We enjoyed it so much that we did the Highlands of Sri Lanka in January and immediately signed up for Madeira this September.

There were 16 on the Picos trip representing a broad cross section of younger and older walkers, couples and singles. A great group - very social. I did notice that there were more older couples on our Sri Lankan trip and Couldn't help wondering if it was because the Picos trip was during the summer.

The Pico hikes were perfect for someone looking for an active but not overly taxing holiday and good company. Northern Spain was a bit of a revelation, green and much lusher than I imagined.

Not sure what to expect of Madeira, but have a lot of faith in Exodus. Besides, a warm island, ocean breezes and good wine- I think it may be worth the risk!

So, I suspect you probably can't go wrong with either trip.

Good luck
