TNT - Everest Base Camp 21st March

Hey - it would be cool to hear from anyone else booked onto this trip. I understand there are 10 or 11 of us so far. Anyone been to this kind of altitude before? If so any advice? Have been over 4000m twice with no ill effects but nowhere near as high as Everest Base Camp! Am trying to train (mainly CV on a x-trainer) and hill walking in the Brecon Beacons but would be grateful for any other advice (especially from anyone who has taken either diamox or gingko biloba to combat the effects of altitude).

Am really excited about this trip - look forward to meeting you all

Hello Jane. Saw your post regarding altitude sickness and gingko.  Follow this thread for a discussion/info.

We have used the aspirin/gingko regime every time. Since this post we have also done the Annapurna Circuit on the same regime, with no problems.  Enjoy Nepal-it's an amazing place, and we're going back for the 3rd time later this year.

Hi Guys

Don't think that I'm on the same trek as I fly out on 12th March but seem to be in the same boat as everyone else - not been at altitude before - hoping I won't suffer!! Spending time training in the gym or Lakes/Scotland and wondering what kit to take?!

I'm based in Warrington, so if any of you guys want to meet up for a coffee sometime - let me know. If not I hope we all enjoy the trek. Gulp!!! lol

Hi all - my name's John & I look forward to meeting everyone. If it's of any interest Holland & Barrett are selling Ginko Biloba at half price - if nothing else it will help us remember each other's names!

still not shore what to pack to keep weight down did not realise that we needed 3 photos of passport size thought it was 1 i should read the paper work sooner not lomy to go  i have been told that vinpocentin ( periwinkle extract) can help with altitude sickness along with gingko

Hey All

Not long now! I have just spoken with Joanna at Exodus and she has told me we are able to leave anything we don't want to take on the trek in the hotel in Kathmandu. Our luggage allowance out to Kathmandu is 20kg I think but only 12kg on the internal flight. So at least out city clothes etc... don't need to be incuded in that 12kg.

She's just returned from Kathmandu and she says it's really hot :)

Look forward to meeting you all soon
