SNOWSHOEING IN FINLAND

A fantastic trip, wonderful experiences, great food and great people.

Most Inspirational Moment

At least three inspirational moments: 1)  Seeing a fantastic show of Northern Lights night after night.2)  Spending a morning driving a husky sledge and then snowshoeing in the wonderful Riisitunturi National Park in the aftrenoon.3)  Driving a skidoo through the Finnish wilderness.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Meiju was a wonderful leader; friendly, knowledgeable and always with a smile on her face.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Exodus provide all the cold weather gear you need, so you can pack light.   Make sure you do both the husky and skidoo "optionals".  They are both great.

ANTARCTIC EXPLORER

An excellent and informative introduction to Antarctica. You could not wish for a better trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Icebergs, stunning beauty and serenity

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very well informed, and a good attention to bio-security

Advice for Potential Travellers

Read the pre-trip advice carefully, bring sufficient drink to avoid steep on board prices.

GALAPAGOS WILDLIFE CRUISE

The cruise we went on was March 2012,it was a once in a life time holiday.Wonderful memories and I would advise any one who is thinking of going to just do it.I went with my husband and we had planned to go for a couple of years. We very much wanted to see as many islands as possible and of course wildlife. What a fantastic trip we had and found it difficult to fault anything about the holiday.

Most Inspirational Moment

The whole trip was inspirational and I find it difficult to say what was the most inspirational moment.Even after all these months I can remember lots of wonderful images .Both my self and husband read all the reviews written from fellow travellers and we identified all the points. The Cachalote was fantastic ,we had a wonderful crew and fellow passengers, which is a key factor on this type of holiday. The wild life experience ,on the land and in the sea exceeded all our expectations, swimming with those turtles, sharks and seeing the rays glide past was unreal .The playful sea lions just seem to be there for the sheer love of folks. Snorkelling is a must we had not done it before, such a wonderful feeling once you get the hang of it. Every island had different surprise's to offer, well worth the walks and climbs.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Group leader in Quito was excellent and gave us lots of advice. As a group we did the suggested itinerary and that worked very well and we saw lots .See other reviews from travellers who went on this holiday in March2012. The Group leader in the Galapagos was excellent ,the information she provided was of a very high standard. The briefings each day were brilliant,I would advise travellers to take a photo each day of the briefing board for your future travel log.The Group leader was very realistic and offered sensible advice throughout the trip.We found if you listened and followed instructions you would get more out of the holiday. Just master that getting on and off Cachalote and the islands/beaches on to the zodiac and you will be fine. Crew members were also an excellent source of information and always ready to be of assistance.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do your research read the notes provided, ensure this is the holiday for you.Boat can be bit rough at times, however you do get use to it.This is not a relaxing holiday remember it is an adventure.Cabins are small you do need to be organised, but it is Great! we would advise any one to go. If possible watch the BBC Richard Attenborough films before you go....and yes it is just like that in real life. We took our own snorkelling gear and thought that was a good idea, although there is enough on board. My view is that I would have liked my own shortie wet suit.

DISCOVER NAMIBIA

It was a very varied tour, during which we experienced very versatile landscapes, ranging from desert to the coast, plateaus and gorges. We saw lots of wild life during these days, which culminated in 3 days in Etosha National Park. Definitely worth it and highly recommendable.

Most Inspirational Moment

Breakfast at the foot of Dune 45 after an early morning start seeing the sun rise over the Namibian landscape. It was magical having our breakfast in the middle of the desert surrounded by the red sand of the Namib desert.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ronney made our Namibia tour an unforgettable experience, about which we still talk enthusiastically after 6 months. He is a great ambassador for his country, sharing knowledge about plants, animals and landscape. Working relentlessly and discretely in the background, he created a really nice atmosphere, allowing us to experience a worry-free holiday of which we enjoyed every minute. He is very good with all members of the group, being patient, approachable and friendly at all times. When rooms of different standards had to be allocated between the group members he demonstrated great diplomatic skills, leading to the group accepting the situation and being content that the best solution had been found.Through his commitment, hard work and enthusiasm Ronney made our holidays a special experience. For this and to recognise his dedication to the job and the group we recommend him for the tourleader award 2012.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take lots of memory cards for your camera and spare batteries as they are not as freely available as in Europe. Pack varied clothes as the mornings can be very cold (we went in August) but during the day - especially inland - it can get quite warm. Layers do pay off. When doing the lodge based tour, take a hair dryer with you, as they are not available everywhere.

MT TOUBKAL CLIMB

I Had a great time on this holiday. Food was fantastic and the walking pace was perfect. The guide was calm and confident and told us about the areas we were in.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top of Mt Toubkal was amazing. The views were great and overall it was a brilliant experience. There was a 60 year woman on our trip and she made it to the top.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was excellent, very calm, confident and collected!

Advice for Potential Travellers

bring food sickness tablets

HIGHLIGHTS OF ITALY

mostly the friendliness of the small groups makes these holidays so special, with singles, such as myself being so readily integrated into the group,  especially an elderly person, such as myself.   I felt very privileged   to be able to take part in all the activities without (I hope) spoiling things for the others.

Most Inspirational Moment

what I found so inspirational was the organisation was so smooth, everything done as we were promised with friendliness from all quarters.     I really felt I had had a holiday when I came home.

Thoughts on Group Leader

very good, always helpful and patient and well organised.

Advice for Potential Travellers

just go along with an open mind.....prepare to be friendly........sometimes things might no go as planned but have a laugh about it and enjoy yourself

FINNISH WILDERNESS WEEK

It was a week of beautiful scenery, good company and experiencing the wonders of winter activities.  This was my first winter holiday, and although slighly nervous about some of the activities as I had never done them before, the experience was not a disappointment and was something I would recommend to anyone.

Most Inspirational Moment

The dogsledding was for me, my most inspirational moment, there is no other feeling than being as one with the dogs and seeing scenary that you would not normally see from the road, it was completely mystical.  The dogs were great as well albeit some hair-raising moments when I thought I was going to lose control of my sled.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was very friendly and accomodating.  If you ever needed any information, advise or assistance both the group leader and his team were available and would always go the extra mile to help.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Give everything a go...  if you are a complete novice like I was then it is easy to want to skip certain activities however the leaders are very supportive, so if you have the money look at the additional activities that you can do like the rock climbing or jet skiing - promise you it will be a great experience!

CYCLING VIETNAM

The whole trip was amazing. The cycling was not too tough but we just went at our own pace when it did become a bit challenging. Take your camera and keep stopping… there’s plenty to take photos of.

Most Inspirational Moment

All of it was excellent. The food throughout was both exciting and well cooked and the accomodation throughout was above expectations. Weather in July was good...not too hot and the rain was fun and refreshing...never cold. One highlight was riding water buffalo. A real laugh a minute. BRILLIANT!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader (Yan) and his co-workers were all of the highest standard. Friendly, informative, attentive and a wealth of knowledge about his country. Superb and could not be better from minute one at the airport to the last sad moment of farewell.

Advice for Potential Travellers

No need for malaria tablets. Take energy bars for the odd snack if you want but Yan kept us fed with loads of snacks and the home made lemon drink was fantastic.

THE INCA TRAIL

Amazing trip, could only recommend especially if you are interested in knowing more about the Incas

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting the Incas ruins (there is so much more than Machu Picchu!) and the cities in the shape of Llama

Thoughts on Group Leader

Couldn't have asked for more from our guides, amazing people and such a passion for their country, their job and so knowledgeable and helpful. Truly felt like a part of their family.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take the moonstone trail!

CYCLE THE BACKROADS OF SRI LANKA

This was my second exodus cycling holiday, and it was amazing, luckily we had a great group that enjoyed each others company and occasionally one too many drinks at night. Some of the hotels we lived in was simply awesome, and the food was always great but could get a bit samey but luckily for me i like curry so it was never an issue. The cycling routes were varied and some days were pretty easy but others were tough days in the saddle, regardless though the scenery we cycled through was breath taking every single day.The view of the massive bats circling above the lake in Kandy is something I will never forget, it really was amazing, as was the safari to Yala national park.

Most Inspirational Moment

The day we cycled to the top of NUWAR ELIYA then down to the castle like hotel, I believe this was a 90 km climb from Kandy, you could get the train or you could cycle it and I recommend cycling it. It is a tough day up past some amazing scenery, then up through the tea plantations with tea and cake stops :) and then up and up until after a day in the saddle you reach the sign that says NUWAR ELIYA, that was my most inspirational moment, what a feeling.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader was awesome, always making us laugh and keeping us all to schedule perfectly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

this trip does come with hills so a little bit training in the hills would benifit you and try the local drink arrack, but as a few of us discovered it takes 2 or 3 or maybe 4 to develop a taste for it so dont give up after the first one :)
