CYCLING VIETNAM

It really is difficult to put into words how fantastic this trip is.  Vietnam is a perfect country to see on a bicyle and the trip massively exceeded my expectations.  The itinerary was busy but I felt was just about right, so as we could see everything of interest.  The country is jam packed with breathtakingly beautiful scenery, very friendly people, lovely food and an all round great atmosphere.  Finding a holiday to top this is going to prove hugely challenging.

Most Inspirational Moment

1. Young children rushing out onto the streets to greet and high five us as we're riding through the villages.  As a group, we never got bored of this, even though it was a constant throughout the trip!2. Halong Bay is simply stunning.3. 30km cycle descent through breathtaking scenery.4. Hoi An was my favourite city and it was great to chill and have a relaxation day there.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader (Lam) was the loveliest bloke you're ever likely to meet!  He totally got our sense of humour and as well as him, the drivers and mechanic were an integral part of our group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't hesitate, just book onto this trip as soon as possible!

CLASSIC KENYA SAFARI & ZANZIBAR

This holiday was my third Exodus holiday, all were amazing but this in my opinion was the best, it exceeded all my expectations and really was a holiday of a lifetime. If you are thinking about booking i would go for it, i want to go again!

Most Inspirational Moment

For me it was the optional balloon flight over the Masai Mara which you can book while on the trip, you take off early so that you can see the sun rise which was amazing, it is expensive but in my opinion it is worth every penny. To be flying over the Masai Mara as the sun rises and to then land and be treated to champagne and an amazing cooked breakfast was just incredible. The safari was amazing also, we went on many drives. Seeing a cheetah with her cubs was a real highlight for me.Also the boat trip, snorkelling and picnic on a secluded island was great, this was run in Zanzibar. They offer a big trip but note that a significant number of people go on this one which put us off. We went with the dive centre which is part of the hotel, because our whole group of 9 people went they adapted the trip to what we wanted, for us this was the best option. The Masai Mara camp itself was also a great experience, nothing quite prepares you for the lovely tents you get with proper bathrooms and beds. You hear all sorts of animal noises in the night including monkeys playing on the roof which really adds to the experience and having Masai warriors escort you to and from your tent at night and having them looking after the camp throughout the night makes you feel very safe and allows you to relax and enjoy.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ben and David were exceptional throughout the holiday, they gave us all the information we needed, answered any questions we had and addressed any issues quickly. They also knew so much about the area and gave us a lot of local information and information about the animals which made the trip a lot more interesting.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be aware that this is a trip viewing wildlife and so nothing is guaranteed but if you go with an open mind you will have an amazing time.In terms of money i would suggest taking more Kenyan schillings than advised in the trip notes as i ran out and most of the little shops, the Masai village etc use the local currency. You can pay everywhere on the Kenya part of the trip with the local currency but only really the Masai Mara camp in USD. You can get by with USD but suggest more of the local currency would be useful. In Zanzibar you don't need any of the local currency, you can use USD for everything.

INCA TRAIL, TITICACA & NAZCA

The most amazing experience shared with such great people with many wonderful memories.

Most Inspirational Moment

Looking down over the monster of a climb we had all successfully completed, sitting at the top of Dead womens pass and taking in one of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Carlos was fantastic. He always talked with great passion and enthusiasm and he never failed to make things fun and interesting.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take your walking poles!!

WALKING IN MALLORCA

The walks were varied and interesting, the guide was brilliant, and the views were spectacular: we felt we experienced a taste of the real Mallorca.

Most Inspirational Moment

3 particularly inspirational moments: firstly the beautiful coastal views whilst walking along the Painters' Path on day 2, secondly the spectacular coastal views from up high whilst walking along the Archduke's Bridleway on day 4, and last but not least the content and settings of the wonderful Mallorcan picnics we had most days.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eduardo was very friendly and helpful and good fun. We didn't need a guide book, maps, or phrase book, as he was really knowledgeable about the area and enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with us. His English was very good. Most days we walked for several hours, but Eduardo set a pace that we could all manage. His Mallorcan picnics are legendary.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This was our first organised walking holiday. We appreciated that pretty well everything was planned for us: the most we had to decide was where to eat on a couple of nights. We were lucky that we met a lovely bunch of fellow walkers who were great company both during the walks and afterwards. We would thoroughly recommend this trip.

THE INCA TRAIL

Quite simply a fantastic trip – itinerary was well balanced, guides first class, facilities on the trek superb. The atmosphere on the trip was one of enjoyment balanced with challenge and achievement – great insight and explanations from the guides to complement the amazing surroundings.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking through the sun gate to get the first sighting of Machu Picchu was truly inspirational. A real sense of achievement after a thoroughly enjoyable 4 day trek which was topped with the awe and wonder of seeing Machu Picchu.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Juan was top drawer - knowledge, personality, enthusiasm and flexibility was superb. Really helped the whole tour gel together with witty and informative interaction.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for day 2 as it's the toughest part of the trek but take it steady and most people should be fine. Remember you're on holiday and only 'race' up the mountain if you want to!

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

The combination of beautiful walks and interesting visits in good company with a superb leader would have been sufficient for a good holiday! Add a comfortable hotel providing fresh, local, seasonal food and it becomes an excellent one.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many! But being in glorious countryside with far-reaching views was a highlight.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine is wonderful! She was always cheerful and encouraging, full of knowledge of the area which she loves and shares with enthusiasm.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's a wonderful holiday - don't hesitate! Walking with a pole was helpful.

DUBROVNIK & THE DALMATIAN COAST

This was a delightful, mildly active and varied holiday, with beautiful towns and stunning coastline to visit.  A good mix of countryside, towns and culture, and time to enjoy some of the places on our own.  My only critcism is that it really needed to be a day or two longer.

Most Inspirational Moment

Undoubtedly walking round the city walls of Dubrovnik in the late afternoon sunshine.  The red tiled roofs stood out against the sparkling blue of the Adriatic sea - a photographer's paradise.  The walk round the city walls is optional, but was a highlight for me - definitely worth taking one's time over this.  The optional day trip to Mostar in Bosnia was also well worth doing, in spite of the long drive.  The small town of Mostar was bustling with tourism, but it was worth spending time in the museum and watching the little film to get a bit of a feel for the history of the bridge and what it meant to the people - you could not help being moved by this.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader was fun, engaging and informed.  He was a good organiser, in spite of our being such a big group, was very amenable and eager to please.  Full marks!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be aware that this is really a 6 day holiday, not actually 8 days as billed, as you arrive in the evening and depart in the morning.  Be prepared for some very busy local bus trips, as the Dubrovnik hotel is way out of the city.

CARPATHIAN CULTURE AND WILDLIFE

So much more than just a walking holiday!  Friendly B&B, spectacular scenery, gorgeous European Brown Bears, interesting tours (Bear Sanctuary, Bran castle & Saxon ruins) yummy food and great Romanian wine. Who could ask for more!?!?

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting the Bear Sanctuary

Thoughts on Group Leader

A local with good historical knowledge.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a dark outfit if going to the optional Bear Hide.

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - LEMOSHO ROUTE

An amazing experience – a trip of a lift time that was made by the great group of people and the fantastic guides. Reaching Stella Point as the sun was rising is something I will never forget and made the final trek to Uhuru Peak that much easier. Our head guide Henry was superb as were his assistant guides, Double V, Hans, Ricardo, Halida and Emanuel. Without their support, encourage and positivity I would have struggled to make that final push to the top. Thank you all in helping me achieve my goal of climbing Kilimanjaro.

Most Inspirational Moment

Climbing the Barracho Wall was awesome, looking at the people ahead of us and realising we had to follow them up the path was amazing. Reaching the top after 2 hours was one of the highlights of the trip, but actually climbing up the wall was one of the most daunting 2 hours of my life!As we climbed towards Stella Point the guides kept us motivated and focused and everytime someone asked ' how much further' the reply came back, 'not much further now, keep going'. Their positive psychology made the 9 hour climb seems so much shorter and the welcome cup  of tea when we reached Stella Point made the final climb to Uhuru Peak that much easier. The overall organisation of the trip was superb, the tents up when we arrived, fantastic food throughout the trip and the welcome cup of tea at 6.30am every morning made the whole trip so stress free.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our Head Guide, Henry, from the African Walking Company was fantastic. Without his support and encouragement I would have struggled to make the summit as my asthma was very bad and I also developed a very bad cold. Henry and his team made everything run smoothly, nothing was too much trouble and the assistant guides walked with me to ensure that I kept up with the rest of the group. Their calm and efficient organisation made the trip so enjoyable.Without the support of Henry and his team I would have struggled to make the summit and I thank them all for helping me achieve my goal of climbing Kilimanjaro.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Order a sleeping mat - the ground is uneven and stony and it also helps with the cold at night.Take some shoes to wear in the evening, that are easy to put on at night when you need to do a night time loo runTake a Camelbak/Bladder - you need to drink lots and regularly and if you use poles then it is much easier to use the bladder rather than bottles. I used the bottles to fill up the bladder as required.Take the best sleeping bag you can afford. It is very important that you are warm and hence sleep at night as you need all your strength for the walking.

CLASSIC DOLOMITES

Great friendly hotel, super but not too demanding walks in great mountain country led by a knowledable and competant guide with a sense of humour.  Pity it only lasted a week!

Most Inspirational Moment

Tre Cime & Monte Piano walks.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Karl was more like another group member, only one who knew the way!  Kept the group entertained with fact and fiction.  The skill was to distinguish between the two!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Poles & stout boots are very useful.
