A WEEK IN JORDAN

Jordan is a lovely country: the people are friendly, the landscape is constanty changing and the historic sites have been beautifully restored.

Most Inspirational Moment

We had an amazing trip and my group of fellow travellers were great. It was a shame it only lasted a week.Jerash was a lovely surprise as I had not appreciated there would be other ancient cities apart from Petra (my lack of prior research!), and a great way to start the trip.Visiting the dead sea and covering ourselves in Dead Sea Mud was a great way for the group to bond very quickly, especially when it reacted with my sun cream and gave me orange stripes! And well, what can I say about Petra-it lives up to every expectation and I am so glad we had 2 whole days to spend there. Although, I still didn't see it all.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was efficient and friendly, but did not necessarily blend into the group as well as other tour leaders I have had previously in other countries with exodus.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It is more expensive than I expected, especially with the current exchange rate, but the exodus suggested amount was adequate.

Suggestions

It is not at all like other middle eastern countries that I have visited previously, eg egypt. People are very friendly and welcoming and when they say hello it is not followed with the hard sell-they do just want a conversation, so you can feel really relaxed and at ease. There is also no hassle for blonde females on their own. I think it is an amazing country and I would love to go back as only 1 week is not long enough.

A WEEK IN JORDAN

A fabulous trip… love Petra and Wadi Rum most, and met a lot of friends. The trip is well organized and the recommended restaurant is really good.

A WEEK IN JORDAN

What a great week ! The variety in each day is great – and whilst not overly energetic some days is made up on the others! We had beautiful days – sunshine but not too hot ! and no insects biting !

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Petra by night and then by day - there is soooo much to see - its a lot more than the treasury - but even that is fantastic and so 3 days is really needed to get the feel of the place. Little Petra too well worth the visit  as had a different purpose. And the dead sea and the red sea and Jerash for the roman ruins - its was all great !

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader Khaled was great - his knowlwedge was excellent and he was very patient with all the questions and ignorance!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Had a great time - definately do the camping option - to sleep under the stars was a real highlight ! Also the dead sea  - get a mud bath - leaves the skni lovely and soft - but have an old swimsuit for this.

Suggestions

Dont expect alcohol - it can be bought but is very expensive - expect a dry week and its soo cheap not buying beer and wine with meals - the soft drinks are usually fresh squeezed juices and are lovely- the food was fab everyday !

A WEEK IN JORDAN

A great introduction to an interesting and friendly country. I was attracted to the trip by Petra but there is plenty more to enjoy along the way.

Most Inspirational Moment

Passing through the Siq at Petra for the first time. Then walking upto the High Place using a route that was off the beaten track and gave a different perspective of the site.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The tour leader was one of the best I've experienced. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he could answer any question about all the sites we visited.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a fleece in the colder months - and ear plugs if you're a light sleeper and likely to be woken by early morning prayers (.. and perhaps snoring in Wadi Rum)

A WEEK IN JORDAN

Great trip, good week.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking though the Siq at Petra and Petra itself.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mo was superb.  Knowledgable, friendly, excellent English

Advice for Potential Travellers

May be difficult to use ATMs.  Take dollars or Jordanian Dinars (get them ordered on line before you go and collect at Heathrow)

A WEEK IN JORDAN

It was the most fabulous holiday I have ever had. We had a whistle stop tour of Jordan, our guide was wonderful his knowledge was endless. Each day (which began early) was an adventure packed with fun and excitement.  Each night we fell into bed exhausted. Great group, lots of fun, lots of laughter.

Most Inspirational Moment

All of the trip was fantastic. Everything was planned for us. Petra took my breath away, the Treasury by candle light will remain in my memory forever. Loved the desert trip to Wadi Rum, the  desert walk at day break, the camping, and our camp hosts were ace, it was a fabulous experience even in the rain.

Thoughts on Group Leader

In a word FANTASTIC ! He kept us all on task, rounding us up, no way would we have seen half of what we saw without him. He also took us to lovely local places to eat.  His pride and love of Jordan was obvious.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take enough warm clothes, February was colder and wetter than we expected.

Suggestions

I thought everything about the trip was fantastic- I enjoyed it so much I have just booked an Exodus holiday to India, if it is half as good as my trip to Jordan I will be happy.

A WEEK IN JORDAN

An excellent trip, highly recommended. Our leader brought all the places to life with his expert knowledge.

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra at night. Walking to the High Place of Petra. Meeting the Bedouins and discovering that many of them look like Johnny Depp! Climbing the sand dune in Wadi Rum and running back down it. The silence of the desert at Wadi Rum.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Khaled Al Omar was a brilliant leader. Full of warmth and humour and very knowledgeable and passionate about his country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack light. Take earplugs as some of the hotels are quite noisy. Some mobile phones were unable to make calls and texts were not received/sent. Best to buy a local SIM card. In Wadi Rum, if it rains (yes, it does rain in the desert!), don't put your bedding out until it stops - ours got wet. Take a walk in the desert and enjoy the silence. All the hotels had hairdryers so it's not necessary to take one. Take sandals for the Dead Sea swim as the salt crystals are quite sharp  and can cut your feet.

A WEEK IN JORDAN

This was a fantastic introduction to Jordan. Very welcoming people, stunning scenery, an excellent guide and a great group of fellow travellers. Despite variable weather and cooler temperatures (in February) this was a memorable and very enjoyable holiday. Big thanks to Exodus.

Most Inspirational Moment

'End of the World view' after walking up to the monastry at Petra. Stunning mountain scenery. Some delicious Jordanian evening meals - especially all those mezze starters. The treasury at Petra which was almost deserted except for our group (an advantage of going in February).Scenery (and echoes) at Wadi Rum day and night.Running down sand dunes.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Brilliant. Excellent people skills, very organised and knowledgable with a great sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

For those going in February take warm layers of clothing!
