Taj and Tigers= terrific.

26 encounters with tigers,(I lost track of how many different ones – think it was 17) one sloth bear and a leopard. That’s a safari. Loved the landscape and all the animals from Langurs to Deer to the beautiful Indian Rollers.Tiger moments from 3 brothers in a water hole to single sightings were wonderful. Taj Mahal took my breath away.

Most Inspirational Moment

Loved the Sloth Bear appearing just before we left the park for the evening. A late and lovely surprise. Did the whole tree scratch just in front of us. Much to all our delight,3 out of four of our jeeps were there and able to enjoy the encounter. Loved the excitement after a tiger walked just behind our jeep and I realised I was shaking with the adrenaline buzz.. I had too big a lens on my camera but boy will I remember the moment.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Kryshna was helpful, knowledgeable and entertaining. He was very organised. Jet Airways folded whilst we were In India but there was no stress for us as the back up team had alternatives for us all in a couple of days. Kryshna liased with the office and all was sorted out.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It is all in the lap of the gods when it comes to sightings. We were very lucky although we were helped by the heat as they were all at the water holes. The jeep system has been criticised by others but I think it is good that the Park Authorities are trying to control numbers and tourist behaviour.

Excellent Walking

A very pleasant week’s walking.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking the Caminito del Rey

Michael Newcomb helped to make the holiday most enjoyable. As well as being very knowledgeable about Spanish history, culture, and the routes along which he directed us, he had a great sense of humour and worked hard to ensure that all members of the group enjoyed the walking.

Fabulous Family Adventure

This was an amazing holiday. We saw so much and it was so well organised – I cannot recommend Exodus enough!

This was the first time we’d done this kind of trip with our nine year old daughter – and it was brilliant in the way it combined: having a family adventure, seeing places i’d wanted to visit, but made accessible and interesting for all the family; within the safety net of the trip being organised by someone that it was clear we could rely on. The detail and organisation was so well handled by Exodus and the guides, leaving us to enjoy ourselves, have adventures, watch the world go by, and learn about other parts of the world. I particularly appreciated the thought that went into supporting local people and businesses.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling around Ankhor Wat temples - and because it was super hot (40), Bun and the local guides had thought of everything: drink, fruit, and were mindful that we kept rehydrated, and there was even a back up bus in case we gave up in the heat! We also enjoyed the homestay in Vietnam - and the cycling trip that Phong had arranged for us there.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Both Phong in Vietnam, and Bun in Cambodia & Thailand were amazing. I had complete faith in both of them.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It is super hot in April, so to be able to spend time outside and enjoy the temples at Ankhor Wat (for example) in more detail, you may be better going in October - December. Having said that, we survived the heat and had a brilliant time. Pack as light as you can. And if you go in March/April, avoid vest tops and 'short' shorts etc - go for long and floaty tops and 1/2 or 3/4 trousers/skirts. Both for the heat, but also to respect the local cultures, and when visiting the temples.

Great week in the picos

An absolutely outstanding trip! The hotel was very comfortable and the food we had was outstanding. The picos themselves are beautiful and every walk was spectacular. Our guide Alfonso was excellent and the whole trip was extremely well organised. Thoroughly recommended. I hope to return to this beautiful part of Spain soon.

Most Inspirational Moment

All the walks were excellent but the gorge walk was a particular highlight.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Alphonso did a great job.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get a decent waterproof if going in April. My one was anything but waterproof. Good shoes or boots are a must. It can get very warm quickly from quite chilly mornings so wear layers. I would go out of season at the start or end of the year again. Our tour had the picos to ourselves but when we were leaving on the Easter weekend it got very busy. Make sure you try the local blue cheese, it is spectacular.

We scratched the surface

We were a mixed bunch of travellers from mainly the UK, aged from 24 to 76, single and partnered. Roshan was our tour guide – he’d been doing it for over 10 years, so there was a certain repetition in his recommendations. Sometimes we were simply let loose to explore without guidance. We enjoyed his descriptions about social life in Sri Lanka and his take on politics but he was reticent about the current situation and we learned little about his private life. He was very helpful at all times.
Some days were full of activity and others were more relaxed. Sigirya was my favourite hotel. We were there over the New Year’s holiday so some activities such as the Tea factory visit, were not as illuminating as they would otherwise be.
The buffet food was excellent and the hotels left little to complain about.
Unfortunately our trip ended on Easter Sunday, when over 250 people were killed in Colombo. Exodus were very good at organising transport to the airport despite the curfew.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visit to the Tsunami house.

Thoughts on Group Leader

As above. Roshan is, I felt, naturally reserved. Apart from learning our names, he seemed disinterested in who we were and where we had come from. He delivered his messages as required but I felt he was sometimes bored. He rarely asked us how we were and did not fully engage with us. (I went on an Exodus Rajasthan trip last year and had an excellent guide, Ayjay, so I had high expectations). Occasionally, towards the end of the trip, he spent more time with us at our evening meal. I foolishly left my camera behind at the Tea factory and he was very good at recovering it. I wish him well for the future.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Relax. Sri Lanka is not Europe. Go with the flow. Service can sometimes be slow and unresponsive. This was my third trip to Sri Lanka. The people you will meet are kind and helpful. Health and safety warnings can be excessive. I had no insect bites and was never exposed to danger. Lions Rock, Adams Peak and the walk to Worlds End can be hot and challenging.

A great trip, who have interest and energy

Kris was an excellent guide with detailed knowledge on the Nation and people of China. Answered questions with a easily to understand words. There is little rest save for travelling, trains, river cruise and Flight all went well. The trip notes mentioned long Station Platforms, this was true however due to Station location a walk of 700 to 900 meters was often required, many with large bags required help.
The use of ATMs to obtain cash in Cities is available, however not in rural areas as much. Very few Business take European Cards, as cash is widely used.

Most Inspirational Moment

A number, the River Cruise, cycling in villages, seeing the old part which will soon be gone, with an excellent guide in all ways.

Thoughts on Group Leader

An excellent guide in all ways.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Travel light, you may have to carry you bag up 2 flights of stairs and walk 900 meters to the Bus. Draw out cash in large centres. Listen to you guide and perhaps take notes. My bag was 14 kg, so not difficult, able to help others.

Walking in Puglia and Matera

This holiday was an excellent trip of gentle to moderate walking through some beautiful countryside, passing through olive groves, by vineyards, along a few gentle slopes and through the area, where one can see the famous conic ‘trulli’ houses of the Itria valley. As well as walking there was some fascinating culture to see, notably the towns of Locorotundo, Alberobello, Ostuni, Lecce (optional) and the beautiful UNESCO city of Matera with its rock churches and many converted cave dwellings. There was a very good choice of delicious fresh, local foods throughout the trip, as well as the wines of the area!

Most Inspirational Moment

The beautiful UNESCO city of Matera with its ancient rock churches and numerous cave dwellings, many of which have been converted into hotels, restaurants and shops. It was fascinating to learn that within the space of almost 70 years, this city has been transformed into one of extreme poverty to what it is today and currently the European City of Culture for 2019.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide for this trip was absolutely excellent. An enthusiastic and sociable young man, with a very good knowledge of English and the local area, who went out of his way to make the holiday a memorable experience for us all.

Andes

Challenging but an experience of treking in remote, dramatic landscape aay from the 21st century!

Most Inspirational Moment

Descending into a steep sided valley with views of Mount Veronica

Thoughts on Group Leader

Helpful and informative.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for a rough trek at high altitude

Fantastic Fun in Finland

We had the most amazing week at the logging lodge with Elina. What a huge variety of activities to try out. Our 16 and 18 year old daughters loved it too, particularly the dog sledding day and the downhill skiing in Ruka. Cooking pancakes and sausages over a fire was also a highlight. Elina was knowledgable, friendly and inclusive. Would really recommend to families with a sense of adventure.

Most Inspirational Moment

Dig sledding

Fantastic!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Try everything. Take your sense of adventure. All equipment provided was more than adequate.,
