So much included

This was my first trip outside of Europe, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to step outside their travel comfort-zone and immerse themselves in a completely different culture. This particular itinerary is excellent, as you visit a wide array of landscapes and landmarks. An important consideration is that China is changing so fast. If you go now you can still see both the old and the new side-by-side, which is really interesting. It is also the sort of place where for all but the most intrepid I think it’s necessary to go on an organised tour with a guide to translate/explain/direct everything and drivers to navigate the road system.

Most Inspirational Moment

It's so hard to choose. I think it would have to be visiting the Forbidden City in Beijing. This was the very heart of a civilization, and I was amazed by the size of the complex and the richness of meaning behind all of its structures and components.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Leon was incredible. He was exceptionally well organised and knowledgeable. He never seemed to tire and always had the energy to answer extra questions and arrange extra trips out. He made each person in the group feel valued as an individual, and always acted in a calm and professional manner.

Advice for Potential Travellers

1. In the words of a local guide, China is having a 'toilet revolution'! There are a surprisingly large number of public toilets available at frequent intervals, though bring your own loo roll and hand sanitiser. 2. Don't underestimate the VISA process. It is far more involved than for most countries, and UK travellers will have to visit a national centre to get their fingerprints taken. (From word of mouth in our group, the Edinburgh and Manchester centres were easier to deal with than the London centre, which is busier. I'm not sure about the Belfast centre). 3. Pack a range of clothing (in layers). As the distances travelled are huge, the climate will change a lot through the trip. 4. All the hotels we stayed in had both American-style and Australian-style plug sockets in the rooms, so either of those travel adaptors would be fine. 5. ATMs are available at frequent intervals throughout the trip, so although you will be expected to pay for most things in cash, you don't need to bring all of it in advance.

Brillian introduction to Greece!

Had an amazing holiday island hopping with Thanos as our inspiring leader. The three islands were so different in character to each other (Naxos = relaxed/laidback / Santorini = busy/picture postcardish / Paros = picturesque mountain villages and pathways). Loved the holiday!

Most Inspirational Moment

The perfection of buildings, statues and even ruins which were thousands of years old and in many cases still being used or incorporated within slighly newer buildings. Our current buildings are not made to last!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Thanos is amazing. He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about all things Greek: culture; food; botanical; history and world affair. He delighted in sharing his country and seemed to gain in energy and enthusiasim as the week progressed. Thanos was a firm leader who successfully herded his group on and off the ferries without anyone or luggage going astray.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We went on this holiday in April and the weather was colder than I hoped or planned. In Paros it sank to 11C and that did feel cold but overall was very good when we were on our walks. If you go at that time of year take waterproofs!

Finnish Wilderness Week 14th-28th

I really enjoyed the trip and it was Greta to see the transition from winter to spring as we were the last trip of the season. The most enjoyable part was the husky ride, so much I went twice. But also, Elina and Ismo really took care to make sure we enjoyed Finnish traditions, and we cooked pancakes and bread on an open fire as well as quinzee building and first aid in the wildness.
I would definitely recommend this trip of you want a jam packed holiday and to tick off a few things from your bucket list.
The guides are fantastic and you really feel a sense of being in the wilderness, especially of you are staying in the loggers lodge

Most Inspirational Moment

Do selling and baking bread on the fire

Thoughts on Group Leader

Elina was fantastic, so friendly and knowledgeable, she loves the first and nature and is so open minded. Ismo who helped her was also fantastic and he had a lot of knowledge about Finnish traditions and nature

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't expect 5 star accomodation as one of the people did when I went, she was shocked, bit I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting mountain hut standard

Excellent trek

As expected, an excellent trek. Fantastic scenery; lovely insight in to Nepali villages and epic mountains!

Most Inspirational Moment

Managing to get our select group of ’Trevor’s Angels’ to the top of Kala Patar!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. He was extremely personable and knowledgable but also very aware of how we were all doing. At the slightest sign of anyone not being 100% , he would check how they were doing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely get your visa beforehand - we did the online bit but still had a huge wait. The only way to avoid the wait is to send passport off for visa in UK. Sadly, if others in the group don’t you will still have to wait but outside! Stock up on anything that will help counteract the Khumbu cough - lemsips, throat sweets ...

Fantastic holiday from start to finish. Very well organized. Fantastic tour guide Ahmed. Nothing was too much trouble. Brilliant fellow travellers. Fun filled packed days. Saw amazing sites. Gina pyramids. Valley of the kings. Etc. Fantastic accommodation. Food really good. Amazing experience. Thank you Exodus and a massive thanks to Ahmed.

Most Inspirational Moment

Valley of the kings.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic. Very knowledgeable. Great fun. Looked after every member of the group.

Perfect blend of nature and history

Unreal trip. First ever trekking holiday I have been on and it was perfect. Literally can’t say a bad word about this trip. From the amazing scenery, challenging walks, watching active volcanos do its thing to the culture and history of Sicily itself, couldn’t have asked for a better trip.

The group were inspirational, Benoit our guide, knowledgeable and passionate about showing us all the highlights possible and making sure we were having a great time.

Perfect intro into trekking and hiking.

Most Inspirational Moment

Summiting Stromboli. We got to the top and unfortunately cousin cover prevented us from seeing the lava eruptions. After 45 minutes of trying out luck just as we were leaving the cloud suddenly went and we got to see the full show! It was amazing to watch.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Benoit was amazing. Knew his stuff, showed us all the best bits every day and was very passionate about the country and his job.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Things will always go wrong on these trips like buses not turning up on time, getting up early after going to bed late. Well worth those small sacrifices.

Inspirational Challenge

Joining the group as a solo traveler is often intimidating but the people, the guide and the team have made this a memorable and fantastic experience.
Our guide embraced us all with our different abilities backgrounds and personalities and created a fantastic group and team.
Between us we had an adventure of a lifetime supported by the most fabulous trekking crew.

Most Inspirational Moment

The view of the Andes from our campsite on the 3rd night. Beautiful inspiring and simply amazing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Paul was excellent, he went out of his way to ensure everyone managed to the trail and more than that enjoyed it. A mix of ages and abilities but he made it work. People smiled in the rain and beamed at the views, his knowledge and Peru. Nothing was too much trouble people felt important and special and look after. His knowledge and theories on the inca's were great and his local experiences brilliant. THANK YOU!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just to it - it is challenging but not as hard as you think, the comfort part of the trip is exceptional and makes it that bit more special and is worth the extra cost. Catering was just way beyond what you would ever expect

This trip was awesome. One of the best cycling holidays I've done. The contrast in the scenery that you cycle through is amazing; mountains, passes, vineyards, the coast fabulous. Wine tasting at the end of a ride. Oh and the penguins!

Great cycling, quite hilly but stunning, very varied. Great accommodation and very varied. Loved the penguins.

Most Inspirational Moment

The penguins waddling down the street holding wings!!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Warren was amazing

Advice for Potential Travellers

There are quite a few hills so I would advise getting a few of these in before you go.

What a wonderful introduction to Walking Holidays and this region of Tuscany!

This was my first experience of an organised walking holiday and I can’t say I was disappointed.
Stunning scenery, delicious food and marvelous company. The weather left a little to be desired but didn’t really spoil the week at all.
When we weren’t walking we were looked after by Angela and her team at Braccicorti. Always a warm, welcoming smile and sometimes a chat over a cup of tea!
The accommodation in the farmhouse is simple but comfortable and warm, with plenty of communal areas to discuss the day’s activities or find a quiet corner to just relax.
I love my food and I loved the fare dished up during the week. Traditional, homely, delicious and plenty of it.
I have got to give a special mention to our Tuesday guide, Pierluigi, whose enthusiasm, in the face of lashing rain, knew no bounds.
And finally, our wonderful guide for the week, Sara, who had a wealth of knowledge about the area’s history and geography as well as its flora & fauna. Her leadership throughout the week made it for me.

Most Inspirational Moment

Although the scenery was stunningly beautiful with so many Instagram worthy vistas, it was the people – group members, our hosts and Sara our guide.

Thoughts on Group Leader

What can i say...Inspirational. A wealth of knowledge and experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Read the trip notes and make sure your fitness is up to muster. Although nothing extreme, there’s a fair amount of altitude to be ascended.
