Annapurna and Chitwan in Luxury

A wonderfully varied holiday, with city visits, trekking in the foothills of the Himalayas and a jungle safari to see the rhino.

Most Inspirational Moment

Waking up and having breakfast in the garden of the mountain lodges while watching the sun come up on the mountain tops. Bathing the elephants in the river. Trekking through mountain villages, enjoying the beautiful scenery and learning about the villagers' way of life.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Gum was such a professional guide, so thoughtful and attentive to the individual needs of each member of the group. We learnt so much from him about his country's customs and way of life and nothing was too much trouble for him to ensure that we had the most enjoyable holiday possible - a lovely man!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Watch out for leeches in the wooded areas of the mountains!!

2 holidays in one

A great holiday or rather two in one. The first week was getting close to nature – basic accommodation but that’s what you need if you want wildlife on your doorstep. The second week was a good mix of different cities.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing truly wild Orangutan that had never been in in a sanctuary as we cruised from out river lodge.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Best ever - great sense of humour, totally committed to making our holiday truly memorable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Think twice before you sign up - we loved it but one of our trip didn't like the idea of bugs and "roughing it" in slightly lower standard accommodation near the nature parks. If you want to get close to nature expect nature to get close to you!

Comprehensive look at Albania

We travelled around most of Albania learning its history and seeing its wonderful scenery, eating the foods and meeting the people.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Berat as we drove in. Just beautiful.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ed was amazing. His knowledge was exceptional. His enthiusiasm for his country took you along with it. Would love to travel with Ed again.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Its quite a tiring trip purely in terms of the fact that you have only one night in every place. But bus journeys are not exceptionally long. Maybe go a day beforehand, as some of our group did and see a bit more of Tirana.

Brilliant

We had 10 people in our group. We all got in well together marking a good start. The experience of the different places we visited gave us a good understanding of Morocco.

Most Inspirational Moment

The camel ride. A bit hairy but not to be mist

Thoughts on Group Leader

Abdul really should us his love for his country. He lissend to our interest and took us to extra places of intrest.

Advice for Potential Travellers

When we were in the in the High Atlas it was cold. They said it was the coldest in 12 years make sure you have a jumper. The walks we did were good I was glad I had my poles with me.

Fabulous trip

It’s over ten years ago since I did a walking trip and this is the first one in Europe.
I found the walking to be as described in the notes. The only thing that they don’t tell you is that ‘lactic acid city’ is going to hit those muscles for a few days unless one has done enough hill walking, especially after the 2,000 plus steps down to Amalfi.
Do take at least one walking pole as it definitely helps to support limbs and steady one’s descent where the path is uneven and rocky.
Our tour guide, Vania di Paoli, was a lovely guide. She was caring, patient, efficient and organised and she was always there to brief us on the day’s walk, in the evening, before dinner. She set a very nice pace for the group and found us some interesting spots to eat our lunch.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were many moments that inspired me but the walk to, and around the top of Vesuvius inspired me the most. It was a cloudy, moody day and perfect conditions for walking up.

Thoughts on Group Leader

I liked my group leader very much and would be very happy to travel with her again. She had to deal with one or two challenges and handled them calmly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As above; do some preparation before the trip. Make sure that you have a Camelbak, or equivalent, and drink plenty of water so that you do not become dehydrated.

Discover Costa Rica review

This was our first Exodus trip, which, to be honest I viewed with some trepidation, as I walk with crutches, and so wondered how it would be. I cannot praise Exodus highly enough, from my first phone call to the very end of the trip. When enquiring about accessibility, the person I spoke to listened properly to what I was asking, contacted someone in Costa Rica so they could answer my queries knowledgeably, and together we came up with a plan. The reality, however, surpassed the plan, due to our amazing guide, who organised things such that I could go into each of the forests we visited for a short trek, and then the rest of the group went on to do a longer one. Although obviously I was hoping we would have a good time, I really did not want this to be at the expense of others seeing and doing what they wanted. Katia’s extremely thoughtful organisation, meant that we all really enjoyed and learned lots on our trip. The fact that our entire group was made up of lovely people helped!
Although like I said this was our first Exodus trip, it certainly won’t be our last!! Thank you Exodus, Katia and Francisco!

Most Inspirational Moment

It is hard to choose one!! I think though it might have been being awoken at Howler o'clock and going out of our lodge to see lots of monkeys cavorting in the trees, especially seeing a mother monkey with her baby, both hanging upside down, having breakfast!

Thoughts on Group Leader

From what I have written above you will be able to tell, we thought she was absolutely exceptional.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you have any queries at all, speak to Exodus staff. We found them incredibly helpful.

Brilliant trip and holiday

Amazing country and very, very friendly people. Incredible history and historical monuments. The Uzbek government is doing great work in restoring these incredible archeological gems. Full praise to them. A very varied and inspirational holiday plus brought back some indelible memories. Our guide Dilshod was very informative, caring and sensitive to the needs of a diverse group. He is a brilliant guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visit to see the Othmani Qur'an in Tashkent was a great privilege. This Qur'an written in about 646 CE was awe inspiring. Ragistan Square in Samarquand is incredible. The jaw-dropping moment came when we entered the the mosque in the Tilla-Kari Madressa. I could not take my eyes away from the amazing decorations of the ceiling. The ceiling is flat (so they say) but the the master craftsmen have done such an amazing work that it actually appears to be dome shaped. My highlight of the the whole trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide Dilshod was very informative, caring and sensitive to the needs of a diverse group. He is a brilliant guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Please go as soon as you can. strongly recommend this trip and holiday

Smiling Sri Lanka

Smiling people, beautiful scenery, wildlife, culture, history, delicious food and great company; our trip to Sri Lanka ticked so many boxes and we absolutely loved it.

Most Inspirational Moment

We elected to climb Adam’s Peak. This was a highlight for me. It was physically challenging, with beautiful views from the top, but to see all of the pilgrims making their way up and down, many of them quite elderly and infirm, was so inspiring.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Roshan was the perfect guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, informative, patient, helpful, funny and entertaining, He really added enormously to our trip and we were very grateful for his services.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Travellers need to know that even more expensive items need to be paid for in rupees. I had expected to be able to pay for these items (eg rafting and whale watching) by credit card but this was not the case. Had we known this in advance we would have changed a lot more money at the airport.

Exceptional!

I initially booked this trip on a bit of a whim… I’d always fancied seeing the Orangutan’s and had been looking online for various trips. This itinerary stuck out a mile – the promise of nature, culture and vibrant cities instantly sucked me in.

Just prior to booking I called the Exodus team to ask if anyone else had booked to travel alone, this would be my first holiday of this kind by myself; so needless to say I was a bit apprehensive. After the team confirmed there were other solo travellers, I bit the bullet and I’m so glad I did.

The leisurely nature of this trip was perfect, not only did we visit key sites in all locations but the time we had to ourselves provided the opportune moments to explore areas further.

Most Inspirational Moment

I absolutely loved the Orangutan visit and the river in Borneo. We visited so many places though so it's really hard to pin down inspirational moments - I had so many in every place we visited.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The exodus leaders were brilliant. Highly organised, sociable and kept us all engaged throughout. Their knowledge was tremendous and they really did go out of their way to ensure the group were well catered for. We also had a few additional people lead tours for us - the river boat, night walks and the food tour in KL. I found them all to be professional and fantastically enthusiastic.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you're considering a solo holiday, especially if you haven't done this before - just go for it! It's the best thing I've done! This trip is IDEAL for all age groups - the variety of nature, city and country life, lively night life and quiet group meals, jungle walks, river cruises and beaches, is just the start. Malaysia is truly stunning!

Walking in the Greek Islands

This was a trip that stimulated all the senses, from the wonderful colours of the wildflowers on the walks and the blues and whites of the pristine villages we passed through, to the tastes and smells of freshly cooked seafood at harbour restaurants. Apart from all the experiences described in the trip notes we were lucky enough to have some added bonuses. These included a fantastic bazouki recital and Greek dancing in the old town hall at Naxos which included unlimited drinks, a trip to the astonishing excavations at Akritiri on Santorini and, as the ferry arrived early at Piraeus on the last day, a visit to the Acropolis in Athens. Our last night’s meal turned into a celebration when we were surrounded by a wedding party!
This was definitely a good time of the year to do this trip, a pleasant walking temperature of 19 to 25 degrees Celsius, everything looking fresh and generally not to busy (except for the main town in Santorini when the cruise ships were in). A wonderful Spring break with great company!

Most Inspirational Moment

The dramatic caldera walk on Santorini has to be a highlight. As you passed by the whitewashed houses and looked down the steep slopes to the bay below you could only try and imagine the huge volcanic explosion that created the current landscape and the fate of the people that lived there.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Thanos our group leader couldn't do enough to make our holiday enjoyable. It was so relaxing just to leave all the arrangements in his very capable hands. He was so knowledgeable about everything we encountered including the plants, history, archaeology and geology of the islands. He chose some lovely restaurants to eat in the evening and worked out everyone's individual bill! We had the added bonus of his wife and young son along who were very interesting to talk to.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Relax and enjoy! We went for a quick swim in the sea in Paros which was very invigorating at this time of the year but did need water shoes to get passed the first strip of pebbles. I only needed my walking poles once for part of the descent in Santorini, otherwise fairly easy walking. Do try the freshly caught cuttlefish!
