    Bali Heaven

This was our 30th wedding anniversary special treat holiday and we enjoyed the chance to see so much of the island and get a feel of the "real" Bali whilst doing some lovely walking.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

We loved the trip up Mount Batur. Setting off at 03.30 in the dark to climb the volcano and see the sun rise from the summit while enjoying the best tasting breakfast! It was also great to see the abundance of produce grown and produced on the island. The rice paddy fields and terraces were beautiful and the irrigation systems were really clever.

What did you think of your group leader?

We had the best group leader, funny, chatty, always willing to help, full of facts about the island and its culture and a great singer.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Be prepared for the heat and humidity. It's a shock if you are used to a colder climate, especially when you are walking through the rice paddy fields. There are mosquitos, who bite despite the mosquito repellent! If you are hoping to maintain a beautiful hairstyle remember to take a hairdryer, none of the hotel rooms have one. I had interesting hair for most of the holiday!!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This is a great trip for people who like to walk and want to see the real island and not just the tourist beaches. You get to meet the locals with the benefit of a local to act as an interpreter and experience the culture and way of life of the Balinese.
