A couple of things.

I'm doing the Thai-indochina grand tour this coming July (my second Exodus trip, i was so impressed with the organisation of my Everest Base Camp trip). First of all i wondered what size of bag/daysac would be good for the daytime. Also will i have access to my main kitbag during most of the daytime. I really don't want to be carrying much around with me during the day. A camera, lenses and maybe an emergency waterproof. Secondly, on the return flights i have a 6 hour wait in Kuala Lumpur for a connecting flight. Is it possible to leave the airport and get some pictures of Kuala Lumpur, if so how do i go about that? Do i need a visa for Malaysia? If so can i get one at the airport?

I'd appreciate any advice from anyone.

Thanks for the forum post.

A normal/medium sizes daysack should be ok as on most days you are with your main kit bag in the evening. Think, the Halong bay overnight is the only night where you might not have access to the main kitbag so a little bit of advanced planning required. Our tour leader normally briefs you daily on what to carry on day to day basis.

Regarding the return flights and your transit in Kuala Lumpur - If you are travelling on British passport then you can leave the airport as no visa is required.

I did this trip two years ago and really enjoyed it. I am sure you are in for a great time. If there is anything else you need to know then just post it here or email us at [email protected]

Thanks for the info Imran. Glad to know i don't need a visa for a quick visit to Kuala Lumpur. I'm sure i'll get by during the day with my shoulder/camera bag.
