Photographic Safari

Is anybody booked on the Photographic Safari with Paul Goldstein departing after the August bank holiday weekend?

I wondered what everyone else was taking in terms of Camera & lens given the 15kg internal flight luggage limit?

Don't be too put off, take the equipment you have. You won't need tripods, flashes or any snazzy stuff, just camera body(s) and lenses. Remember, there is a laundry service, so u don't need to pack the world . I take 3 sets plus under clothes, plus fleece and hat. What date departure you on.

Hi Charlotte

I'm booked on the safari too. I am just taking one camera body and a couple of lenses. I may take a compact camera with me too. It's very exciting isn't it. I can't wait.

Thanks guys, was planning packing pretty light, I love a chance to get away from it all and I can't wait for my phone to stop picking up emails!

I am on the 28th August departure, under 3 weeks now, not that I am counting ;-)

I only have one DSLR body so will take that, I have hired a Canon F2.8 300mm prime for the trip and I have a wide angle lense and the kit lense the camera came with too. I will prob leave it at that lense wise although I confess I am tempted to hire a 70-200mm zoom so I have more flexibility. I think I will bring my compact too, I am rather attached to it and love some of the pictures it has taken previously!

I am very excited, I honestly cannot wait!

You won't regret taking the 70-100 mm, but it you do it would be good if you could borrow a second body so you don't have to keep changing lenses as it gets really dusty. I take 2 bodies, 300mm prime, 70-200 mm and a wide angle (which I hardly use).  One tip, put your hat & sunscreen at the top of your bag as you will need them on your drive to camp in the Mara and run off the Visa forms before you go so you can fill them in on the flight.  Have a great trip.

Thank you, sunscreen, hat and sunglass going in the top of the bag!

will see how rich I am next week when I get paid as to whether I grab a second hand body and the 70-200mm lense.

Now off to grab my visa forms!
