Itinerary Include flights Leave this field blank Expand allPieve di Soligo to Pieve di Soligo Day 1 Start Pieve di Soligo. The trip starts in Pieve di Soligo, a small village located in the heart of the Prosecco hills, approximately 60km north of Venice. The surrounding area is picturesque, with lush vineyards covering the slopes of every possible hill and old churches, abbeys, villas and ancient castles dotting the landscape. Prosecco has been produced here for centuries, but only more recently, thanks to the surge in its popularity worldwide, has the area captured the deserved spotlight. Nevertheless, still relatively few tourists visit this wine region each year, making it an ideal location for a week of walking, wine tasting and cultural discovery in a still very authentic rural part of Italy. Depending on the group arrival time, there might be some time for a quick orientation walk near our hotel. Depending on the group arrival time, there might be some time for a quick orientation walk near our hotel. Meals included: Dinner Day 2 Morning walk around the mediaeval villages of Cison di Valmarino and Follina;visit a beautiful Cistercians abbey dating back to the 12th century. This morning we transfer to the pretty town of Cison di Valmarino, one of the best-preserved villages in the Prosecco area, containing numerous historical monuments and buildings that reveal its past role as major feudal estate. The gentle walk follows a waterway, crossing tranquil woodlands, and passing by the ancient manor and fortress of Castelbrando, which offers panoramic views over the farmland and villages far below. The walk ends in Follina, famous for the Cistercian monastery of Santa Maria, a mystical site enclosing one of Italy’s most beautiful cloisters. The monks were the first to give a boost to the development of the textile sector in this area, weaving wool here from the Middle Ages onwards. In the afternoon we return to the hotel and the remainder of the day is free to relax in the village or you may decide to take an optional short walk along the picturesque river banks in proximity of our hotel. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Day 3 Circular walk in the heartland of the Prosecco region; visit one of the best local producers for wine-tasting and learn about the wine-making process.Today's walk takes us to the heartland of the Prosecco hills, namely Valdobbiadene, S. Pietro di Barbozza and S.Stefano. The majority of the winemakers are based right here, amongst the picture-perfect terraced steep hills which are arguably the prettiest of the whole Veneto region. Our walk follows a mix of man-made tracks and paths twisting through the vineyards, and offers spectacular views of the fertile landscape and hamlets perched on the hillsides. During the walk we will have the opportunity to visit of one of the top local Prosecco producers, whose passion for wine making goes back for generations in the family. After a general introduction of the winery and its history, we will have the opportunity to sample different varieties of Prosecco during a guided wine-tasting (included). We return to the hotel in the afternoon. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Day 4 Morning guided sightseeing in the elegant provincial capital of Treviso; afternoon relaxing walk through the Natural Park of the River Sile.In the morning we transfer to the pretty capital province of Treviso, a real hidden gem often overlooked and perhaps overshadowed by the neighbouring Venice. Rebuilt and restored after Second World War bombing, the town centre is a rambling maze of streets lined with arcaded walkways. The town is circled by a pretty wall and by waterways, which add to its very picturesque and elegant style. After a walking tour of the town's centre accompanied by a local guide, we enjoy some free time to wander around at our own pace and have some lunch (the world-famous Tiramisu was apparently invented in this city, so it is recommended trying some in one of the best cafes in town!). In the afternoon we leave the walls of Treviso behind and follow the water flow of Sile, the longest river of resurgent waters in Europe. This tranquil route through a nature reserve offers the opportunity to explore the local flora and fauna and brings to light many evidences of the age-old relationship between men and this river. Return to the hotel in the evening. Meals included: Breakfast Day 5 Visit the UNESCO Palladian Villa Barbaro before ascending to Monte St. Giorgio, originally used as the front line during World War I; walk to the elegant hilltop town of Asolo. After a short private transfer we reach another gem of the Prosecco area and the start point of today's walk: Villa Barbaro in Maser. The villa is one of the greatest masterpieces of the famous Italian architect Andrea Palladio (1508-80), and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is situated in the middle of a flourishing privately owned estate, and six of its rooms adorned by beautiful frescos are open to the public. After a short visit, we set off for our walk starting with a climb to Monte San Giorgio, overlooking the villa. The route will then veer west, following one of the original front-lines used during the First World War. The war affected most of this area as well as many other towns around the Prosecco hills. During the walk we are able to see the evidence and memorials of the epic deeds that marked the destiny of generations of people and the course of history throughout the world. Our end point is the elegant hill-top town of Asolo, known as 'the pearl of the province of Treviso', for its beautiful setting and charming historic centre. Free time and return to Pieve di Soligo for dinner. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Day 6 Free day; take an optional trip to Venice or spend an afternoon in the pretty town of Conegliano.Free day to visit the lovely town of Conegliano (the other major centre of Prosecco production and wine studies), or take a day-trip to the one and only Venice (only a short train ride away). Meals included: Breakfast Day 7 Panoramic walk through the alpine landscape of Monte Cesen (1570m): enjoy a 360 degree view of the Venetian Prealps. Our final walk takes us above the Prosecco hills, to Mt Cesen, a humble, rounded, grassy mountain, and the highest in its small group of Venetian Prealps. Rising just above the Piave River at an altitude of 1570 meters it offers a stunning panorama and popular walking trails which cross mountain pastures, meadows and a landscape which differs completely to the one we explored earlier in the week. On a clear day, the views can stretch as far as the Eastern Alps, Dolomites, and Venice. In the evening, there will be the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic farewell dinner in one of the best local restaurants located in a panoramic setting in the heart of the Prosecco hills. If the weather conditions are good and the skies are clear, the group will have the option to go on a longer walk (Distance: 8 Km, Ascent: 450m, Descent: 450m, Maximum altitude: 1406m). Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 8 End Pieve di Soligo. Our trip ends in Pieve di Soligo in the morning. Meals included: Breakfast Transfer to Venice and fly to London. This trip ends in the morning of Day 8 in Pieve di Soligo. The morning is free to visit Pieve Di Soligo's weekly market. The group will be transferred to Venice airport in the afternoon for the inbound flight to London which is usually scheduled to depart after 4pm. Meals included: Breakfast

Reviewed May 2022 Peter JonesGreat walking, excellent refreshment, star guide! Gillian and I had a great week enjoying the walking, spectacular views, brilliant wild flowers and varied wines (both Prosecco and some very good local red wines) in the beautiful Prosecco Hills and Pre-Alps, led by the enthusiastic and ebullient Vania de Paoli. It was hotter than expected for the second half of May, making some of the unshaded uphill sections quite taxing, but Vania timed the breaks to ensure that everyone in our varied and convivial group was able (literally!) to take the walks in their stride. A very good way to get back into the swing of foreign holidays after two difficult years. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The final day's walk in the Pre-Alps, starting at over 1000 metres, combined great views with wild narcissi, asfodel, orchids and many other spring flowers, in more comfortable temperatures than earlier in the week because of the altitude. And Vania topped it off by producing two bottles of Prosecco at the highest point! Outside the main programme, Vania also organised a wine and food tasting menu for us at the restaurant a few metres from the Hotel. Four courses and five red wines, all made within 15 km of the hotel and two of them particularly good, for Eur40 per head - exceptional value! What did you think of your group leader? Fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble for Vania - and she was great fun with it!Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Bring walking poles and make sure you know how to use them. The walks are not particularly long but they merit the Leisurely/Moderate grading because there is significant ascent and descent, some of it sustained and on steep and rather loose paths. Is there anything else you would like to add? This was our third trip with Exodus and we certainly hope to do another one.
Reviewed May 2022 June EgglestonePerfect trip Good food and wine all week, and great walking, what more can you ask for? What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? It was good to learn more about the different types of prosecco. What did you think of your group leader? Vania is an excellent tour leader - you are safe in her hands, and will have a great time!Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Do this trip. Don't eat much for lunch at the airport on the way out, you will get a generous dinner in the evening! (and that theme continues all week really …). I did use mossie repellant (just the natural citronella stuff), and I didn’t get bitten, so would recommend. Would also recommend walking poles most days, as there are some steep up/down sections on all but one of the walks. I walked to San Gallo church on the “free” day, which I would recommend for a great view. If using Google maps, aim for the nearby locanda (La Candola) rather than the church, then it wont lead you down a non-existant path! Church is just after that on the same road.

Reviewed May 2022 Steve TaylorPredictive tech Technology needs to do what it is told. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? You will see my review from the other day below is grammatically incorrect. The group leader section starts with Variously obviously..... This is totally wrong. I typed Vania who was our leader. It is Vania, Vania, Vania not Variously. Word obviously decided it didn't like Vania and made something up. With all the money I have given Microsoft a refund is obviously due. What did you think of your group leader? Vania is a star. Never met Variously.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Final walk provided excellent views of the hills, but every day gave something different. The free day we went to Venice, with all help necessary for the journey from Vania and Sandra (driver)What did you think of your group leader? Various obviously loves what she does and her enthusiasm shows.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? It was very hot for our trip in May toping 30 on one day. Be aware and have suitable clothing for the conditions. Be prepared for some steep uphill too.
Reviewed October 2019 Eve MurdockAnother great trip with Exodus This trip exceeded my expectations in terms of the standard of walks, places we visited and fabulous companions. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? I loved all the walking but the most inspirational was the trip to Treviso. The city was very clean fascinating and interesting. I loved the walled centre and the great guide who showed us around with lots of enthusiasm. In addition, the food stop near the fish market provided delicious lunch and tiramisu. What did you think of your group leader? What can I say about Vania that hasn’t already been said! I chose this trip because I wanted to travel with Vania again having previously walked the Amalfi coast with a group led by her in March 2018. She is a delightful, professional, friendly and calm person with a great sense of humour, and I joked with her that she was our Mummy and we were her chicks following closely behind. Nothing seemed to phase her and she always had a smile for everyone. She is a credit to Exodus.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Definitely take insect repellent, even in October, as the little blighters can inflict nasty bites.

Reviewed September 2019 Rachel GarnettProsecco Hills This was our second Exodus walking holiday, having walked in the Amalfi last year. We had a fabulous week exploring an area completely new to us. The Prosecco Hills are truly beautiful - rolling hills backed by the Pre Alps and the Dolomites - stunning! Our group was made up of a great bunch of people who were a lot of fun to spend the week with. A highlight was finding out that Vania was going to be our leader for the week, having first met her in the Amalfi when she was training there. Vania is a lovely leader - thoughtful, fun and was aware of everyone's needs at all times - during the walks, in the restaurants when ordering food etc. Naturally, prosecco featured strongly during the week and we almost felt like experts by the end of the week! What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? There were many inspirational moments during our trip - the walk on the last day to Mt Cesen was stunning, as was the beautiful restaurant on the final night. The walk through the vineyards on a very hot day and then finding a prosecco vending machine at our lovely lunch stop was both fun and welcome! Tasting tiramisu in Treviso was a treat. Visiting the family vineyard was great and informative and having the opportunity to revisit Venice on our free day was fantastic. What did you think of your group leader? Vania was an excellent group leader. She was knowledgeable, easy going, caring, smiling and patient - lovely to be around.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Take layers - although for 6 out of the 7 days we had lovely, warm weather, one day we had rain and thunder so options clothes-wise are essential. In our opinion, this level of walking is not hard-core. There are some strenuous parts, so you can feel challenged at times, but there are also plenty of breaks, so as long as you are reasonably fit you should be absolutely fine.Is there anything else you would like to add? Don't hesitate to book! If you love the beautiful outdoors and enjoy other people's company, you are bound to have a great time with other like-minded people.
