A virtually perfect week of walking in the snow with stunning scenery and great company. The 5 scheduled walks varied between 8+ and 12+ miles with perfect stops for coffee and lunch in alpine huts/small cafes. I liked the Hotel Mentoff which is small and full of character, although there were a couple of plumbing issues - leaks under the sink - which were not dealt with. They catered for my vegetarian diet requirements fairly well. I'm not sure how Vegans would fare though, especially in the lunch stops.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    Walking to Germany (Mittenwald)!

What did you think of your group leader?

A huge part of the success of the week was down to the Leader, Paul, who has great knowledge and skills and a very easy-going personality. He went over and above what he needed to do, especially on the midweek free day and the last day, suggesting and facilitating extra activities. Curling was a particular favourite I think with our group. As was the card game Paul taught us.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Yaktrax (or similar) are essential for walking on snow and occasional ice. I took (and wore) gaiters but they were not really essential. Don't expect wifi in the bedrooms, although a couple of rooms on the first floor were o.k for this I believe. Contrary to other reviewers' experience, a couple of us did use the sauna while wearing swimming costume/bikini and no one complained.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Highly recommended for anyone who likes this level of activity - and snow!

    Wonderful Winter Walking!

This holiday gives you the opportunity to enjoy spectacular walking in an outstandingly beautiful area without the need for skis or snowshoes. Coffee stops and lunches in mountain huts and restaurants added to the pleasure.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The walks on prepared trails were all a delight. The views were magnificent enhanced by plentiful snow and sunshine.

What did you think of your group leader?

Paul was an enthusiastic and very capable leader who organised extra walks and activities which greatly added to the enjoyment of the holiday.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Please Exodus, could we have more similar winter walking holidays!

    Winter Fun in Seefeld

As someone who has always wanted to do a winter trip in snow, but can't ski, this trip was the perfect solution. Seefeld has so many varied, stunningly beautiful and well marked hiking trails, which the various treks on this trip showcased perfectly. The walks are not too technically difficult, and the days are well planned with enough time to enjoy authentic local cuisine (and of course rum) along the way. Seefeld is a cute town with a lively night life, just a short distance away from the hotel. There certainly was never a dull moment on this trip.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Ploughing through almost 2 metres of untouched snow, being surprised by seemingly endless amazing views on every walk, trying curling and a group who made me laugh almost non stop for a week! Just what I needed to brighten up a dreary January.

What did you think of your group leader?

Paul is everything you hope for in a leader of a group holiday. He went out of his way to ensure that everyone had a good holiday and all of the walks were quietly but efficiently organized. He also arranged all sorts of extra activities on the day off, including being dragged up a mountain himself! You would have thought he had been coming to the area for years, when it was only actually his second trip there.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Don't be too noisy when making tea on the corridor to avoid getting into unnecessary trouble with the hotel staff!

    Winter Walking in Tyrol

If you think skiing is the only way to enjoy the Alps in winter, think again! As a previously avid cross country skier I confess I wondered whether "mere winter walking" would be interesting or challenging enough - by the middle of day one, as we ploughed our way cheerfully through freshly fallen snow, I had no further doubts. A great workout, crisp mountain air, majestic views, hot chocolate and goulash soup in local Gasthauses, drinks and laughs and a brilliant leader, even a curling match (at which some excelled and some provided the laughs) - everything a winter trip should be.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The scenery - snowy peaks on every side - especially on those blue sky days

What did you think of your group leader?

He was pretty damn good (putting on a walk on the day we flew home, making arrangements for people for the free day, providing entertainment, I could go on...)

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Gaiters were a life saver - I nearly didn't bother with them as have never worn them and was very glad I did. And don't bother taking your swimsuit for the hotel sauna - it's Northern European style here and costumes are not allowed.

    Winter Walking in Tyrol

This was our first Christmas away and we were really glad that we chose this holiday. The town of Seefeld was stunning and scenery was like a winter wonderland. The walks were very good and not too challenging which allowed for stops at Mountain Huts for coffees, hot chocolate and lunch. Overall it was an excellent relaxing way to spend Christmas.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The scenery especially the day after it snowed - it was even more stunning.

What did you think of your group leader?

Paul was an excellent leader. He went out of his way to meet the group needs, especially on the day off when he arranged several different activities for members of the group, including cross country skiing, tobogganing and curling. We had a late flight home and had to be out of the hotel room by 10.00 am. Paul arranged a short walk for the group and lunch. He also arranged for some of the group to go to Innsbruck by train and we met them at the airport later. He went above and beyond and this was appreciated.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Do not take a "water cooker" (kettle) - the hotel don't like to use one in your room!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

There are plenty of winter activities that you can do in Seefeld on your day off - it is a lovely place with a great winter atmosphere.

    Winter wonderland walking (mit Rhum)

A lovely week with lots of snow, great walks, nice hotel, fab group, excellent fun!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

We were really lucky with the weather - lots of snow when we arrived, then blue skies for a couple of days before it snowed again and was so pretty walking through the trees. The week ended with more blue sky - perfect! Great stops for morning coffees (rum optional) and traditional Austrian food for lunches (sausage and saurkraut for Xmas lunch - yum!) Walks were really well planned and through lovely scenery.

What did you think of your group leader?

    Paul was fab!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

It's a really nice trip, great walks, not too tricky (with spikes on!). I really liked the hotel, amazing food. Seefeld is a great town, lots to do on the day off (we went tobogganing which was great fun and then curling.). Because of the late flight home on the Saturday Paul offered us on an extra walk, so it seemed like a lovely long holiday.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

For a new trip everything ran really smoothly. Highly recommended!
