Conservation and Regeneration  Partnerships

The nature and unique ecosystems that we continue to explore on our adventures are increasingly under threat. To help tackle this issue, we work closely with our suppliers in every destination to ensure our trips create social and environmental benefits for the people and places we visit.

We also focus investment by working with organisations that help us in regenerating and conserving our natural world and that support local communities to prosper and thrive. Here, we outline our conservation initiatives and partnerships in more detail:

Partnerships for conservation

Rewilding the Apennines

We partner with Rewilding Apennines, a non-profit organisation in central Italy, to rewild 100 square metres of land for every one of our passengers.

The process of “rewilding” helps to restore our nature’s ecosystems and biodiversity, for wildlife to return and thrive, while also combatting climate change by increasing the land’s ability to absorb carbon.

Building the eBioAtlas

Our partnership with the tech science company NatureMetrics helps us take action to better understand ecosystem biodiversity.  Together with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), NatureMetrics is building an important database of biodiversity, the eBioAtlas.

Our Citizen Science Departures enable customers to take part in collecting environmental DNA samples on their adventures, once analysed in the lab, the data helps support conservation action and inform world biodiversity policy .

Supporting Healthy Oceans

As part of our commitment to climate and nature action, we’ve joined our sister companies across the Travelopia Group* to partner with Blue Marine Foundation

Our objective is to help conserve the stunning coastlines and marine life that enrich your holidays and to restore ocean ecosystems that are vital in tackling climate change.

Together with our sister travel companies, we intend to donate at least £1 million over the next 3 years, with an aim to support the conservation and restoration of 7,000 hectares of vital marine ecosystems through seven global projects.

From the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, Kenya to Indonesia, these protected “blue carbon ecosystems” have the potential to remove and store thousands of tonnes of carbon every year. They will also help protect a rich diversity of coastal and underwater wildlife, including endangered species.

Our support will also enable the training and employment of local communities in marine conservation, helping ensure these beautiful places are preserved for generations.

Partnerships for community building

The Explorers Club

We’re thrilled to partner with The Explorers Club, an industry leader in the scientific exploration of sea, land, air, and space, to deliver our Exodus Exploration Without Boundaries Grant program

These grants help fund projects that advance the global understanding of the social and natural world through cultural, scientific, and conservation fieldwork and are led by explorers who may have taken alternative routes to acquire the skills necessary to conduct their research.

WmnsWork

We are a founding sponsor of wmnsWORK, a female-owned and led tourism-specific business accelerator for women and non-binary entrepreneurs comprised of masterclasses, mentorship, and peer support. WmnsWork serves as an entrepreneurial ecosystem of peer encouragement, anti-oppressive values and directly applicable education for those in the early stage of their venture’s development.

Exodus plays an active role in the program while also supporting scholarship opportunities for other underrepresented groups.
