Kenya Tanzania

My wife and I are 66, reasonably fit and healthy, and considering the 16 day Kenya & Tanzania Adventure tour. We have concerns over how we may cope with the 10 nights basic camping. We would like to hear from others of a similar age on their experiences.
John Derry.

Hi John - I did this trip a while ago and although I'm a little younger I hope I can give you some help!

On the whole the participatory camping part is not hard or strenuous - the tents take about 5 minutes to set up and take down (once you get the hang of it). Providing you are good with kneeling and bending you'll be fine.

The other aspects generally comprises with assisting with cooking, washing up and sweeping out the truck. Generally speaking the group all pulls together and chores are often completed very quickly.

The only real downside that I found on this type of trip is that as soon as you arrive on site you need to get all the work done; this means that you don't always have an opportunity to explore the campsite - some of which I never saw in daylight!

In general I found this trip to be only slightly more strenuous than the full catered trips I have been on and the helping out aspect makes it very rewarding.
