Peru explorer

Hi
Just booked this trip departing on 11th August 2017. Anyone else going?
Jas

Hi Jas, we are on the trip too. Excited, but starting to feel nervous about the Inca trail and hoping that we are up to it.

Started seriously thinking about what kit to take - particularly for the Inca trail. I want to stay warm at night but need to keep the packs light. Also, considering whether to take an extra sleeping mat as a good nights sleep is important as well as avoiding losing too much heat from the ground.

How is it with you?

Jaci

Big trip, excited and a little nervous.

Would love to hear from anyone on this trip or anyone who has already already completed the Inca Trail.

Inca trail now feeling a little scary as don't feel very physically prepared. Sit at a desk all day and often feel too tired in the evening to do too much.

Hi Jaci
I can relate to your comments about the Inca trail, excited but don't know really know what level of fitness is required. Haven't thought about kit yet but don't think that'll be too much of a problem. Where are you flying out from?
Jas

Hi Jas
We are flying out of Heathrow. How about you?

Hi Jaci
I'm flying out from Gatwick (on the group flight) although I live closer to Heathrow. Just printed out the Exodus walking and trekking fitness recommendations. Would be good to do some hill walking beforehand and am going to try and plan something for the weekends.
Jas

We live closer to Heathrow too and assumed this was the group flight?? Started trying to take more exercise at weekends as preparation. Mixing cycling with walking but could do with trying to walk up and down some decent hills.

Hi Guys,

I've just booked on the Peru trip too. I'm leaving from Gatwick on the 11:55 flight.

I'm not doing the Inca trail because of the late booking but will be doing the Moonstone Trek instead.

Really looking forward to this!

Hi fellow travellers and Inca trail walkers.
It's getting very close now, and feeling excited. I'm interested in hearing from you all about your thoughts / plans on the following:
- are you taking the kit bag provided or borrowing one in Cusco?
- are you borrowing a sleeping bag or taking your own?
- what size day pack are you taking? I want to travel as light as possible and would like to keep to 22 litres but concerned this might be too small?
- are you taking an extra sleeping mat or sticking with the one provided?

Love to hear from you all
Jaci x

It is great you're joining us Craig

We have been increasing our level of exercise and either walked or cycled every day last week in the Chilterns. Feeling a bit more prepared and fit.

Would love to hear how it's going with some of you

Jaci

Hi Everyone, it's getting close! Thought it may be fun to start a whatapp group or something where we could chat.

My mobile is 07779028495 if anyone wants to add me!

Craig.

Anyone travelling to Peru on 18th August?
