The tunnels of Cu Chi are a vast interlinking network of underground tunnels that formed the centre of operations for Vietnamese guerrilla soldiers – the Viet Cong – during the Vietnam War. As well as providing concealed passages and supply routes, the honeycombed network had living areas, munitions factories and even hospitals. Dug beneath the jungles of South Vietnam, the tunnels covered some 250km at their peak.
Cu Chi Tunnels tours are a sobering reminder of the history of Vietnam and showcase the ingenuity and resilience of its people. The American War, as it's known here, showed that the little guy could stand up and win, and resulted in a monumental shift in world affairs.
